HAHAHAHAHA that article sounds like a good half of the posts in this thread Seriously when it comes to Coldplay rumors etc, the media need to stop stalking us
As for the ideas in the article, I don't think they'll go for the third option, I'm pretty sure they've been writing and recording their own songs. Also to me that Achtung Baby paragraph sounds like what they already did with MX so I don't really see the point of even imagining it happening Option n4 is out of the question. To me we can expect something between 2 and 5, that is a sound closer to what we're used to hear of Coldplay, and, as they're always keen to make anthems for large arenas, some cool live-or-almost stuff.

I've been waiting for them to make a rock album. With a lot of loud crunchy guitars and loud drums. I really liked during the Viva era how they were messing around with different time signatures, especially on Will's drumming. I've always thought that they have it in them to make an album like that. If you look at a lot of their live performances, they really have a lot of crunch to them. The early performances of Hurts Like Heaven during the festival runs are some of my favorite. The album version is a bit less rockier than it is live. Jonny's guitar is loud and crunchy! God Put A Smile On Your Face is crazy live! The guitar solo at the end!!

While I loved Mylo Xyloto a lot, it was by far their poppiest album. I know Chris seems to be heavily influenced by pop artist these days. Jonny seems to be stepping his game up a bit and I feel like they should just unleash him! Im just afraid we'll get an album full of pop songs again. I hope they do songs more along the lines of Glass Of Water, Hurts Like Heaven(live),The middle section of 42, Death And All His Friends, etc. Something along those lines.

Oh and they seemed to have steered away from the ballad. I've always thought they wrote amazing ballads. I think another classic ballad surely won't hurt. Im nervous and excited to see what LP6 brings though!

I like the way you're going with that. They're a great live band. I don't listen to MX much anymore, just the live versions from Live 2012. When I first heard the rumors that it may be something like AROBTTH I was neutral, but I think I'd be pretty happy with that. Basically they've never done anything that I haven't really liked. Not to say they wont.. but I think whatever it is, I'll love it. There's just something about them. I'm just ready for some news! They can definitely rock. Violet Hill live compared to the CD version is almost like a different song for me, can't listen to it without headbanging. I'd be cool with more of that. These are my ramblings, thank you for humoring me.

So in all reality... where do we think they are at with lp6?

Are they still in the "we have been in the studio for the last year playing around with ideas" stage or are they actually recording the album at this point...

Anyone who has followed past album productions knows they can change direction two or three times before they decide on a tone / theme and move forward.

Things have been very quiet this time around... makes me wonder if things still are in the experiment demo stage or if they are laying low this time around.

Don't want to get false hopes up, but my impression is that they're well into the stage of recording and that the overall idea of the album is decided. Based on what the band members have been saying, and well, intuition.

Maybe the reason they're more quiet is that they felt MX was over-promoted, and want to go a different route this time. Perhaps releasing without prior singles and announce the album relatively late as some have speculated.

Pretty much everybody seems to agree that the album will be released mid-2014 ( it's close! \o/ ) and that we'll have a late-2014 tour.

I really hope these rumors turn out to be true. Planning to go see my first CP concert with my family, and I just. can't. wait.

Doesn't have to be LP6 related, he might be working on some project (like the Avicii thing).

The march edition of NME will feature a full report on LP6.

Is there any way we can obtain such report ASAP?

It is Q Magazine and it actually doesn't contain anything about LP6, despite our (legit) excitement last night. Subscribers of Q got their copy today and it's a review of the U1R concert, as you can see here: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/thr...=1#post5621111

Who would call a single 50 minute concert a "TRIUMPHANT RETURN" if they have been off the media for like, just a year. REALLY, THAT'S NOT A RETURN, THAT'S NOT TRIUMPHANT, THAT WAS JUST A GIG, DAMN

Hi!!! it's been a long time since I posted here. Can someone update me quickly, as if there are any possible release dates for LP6 ??? !
I would love if it's released June/July and they tour August/September/October/November

I'm from Mexico and I'd love to go to Europe for their tour, but it has to be the second half of the year!!!

Nothing so far, I'm afraid. Hopefully we'll get news soon. Rumours say late Spring, I think? But nothing concrete nor official.
