Yes, I've heard of Lights. I'm not a massive fan of her voice.

I'll make a list of some mainstream pop hit songs (and some albums) I like (most of them I'm a bit ashamed to confess ):

Rihanna - Rockstar 101, Umbrela
Michael Jackson - Billie Jean, Beat It, Black or White, Don't Stop 'Till You Get Enough, Bad, Smooth Criminal, They Don't Care About Us.
Shakira - Rabiosa
The Wanted - Glad You Came ()
The Black Eyed Peas - The whole The E.N.D. album and Where's The Love
Britney Spears - Womanizer
Maroon 5 - Their fist 2 albums (Songs About Jane and It Won't Be Soon Before Long)
Justin Timberlake - Lovestoned, What Goes Around...Comes Around
One Republic - Apologize
Madonna - 4 Minutes and some 80's songs I don't remember the name

Why on earth would you be ashamed to confess you listen to pop? That's really the wrong mentality to take.

Not so in love with mainstream pop stuff, but Katy Perry is not bad.

Am I the only one who sees the irony in this statement?

I'm actually curious to know about what you guys will answer

i would say is Metal, Blues or Jazz (there's not a thread for the last two genres), but well.
Only pop singer that i like, a lot, is David Fonseca. Is a portuguese pop-rock musician. I've seen him twice. There's a thread in the wom section.
I listen some pop divas from time to time, but few songs and few times. Still as most of them don't compose the lyrics nor the music i have few respect for them, i consider more an artist when does all the work. Still I appreciate pop performances but I don't truly consider the divas as artists, just great performers.
And off course old pop is good, thought I know more of spanish ones, my mom loved them.

Songs About Jane is such a grand album.
