It's not a question of likelyhood. If anything were to happen, the band would be on the hook for it.

Asking people to recycle them is different from asking people to hand them back in to be re-used. It makes sense to encourage people to turn them in to be properly recycled if they don't want to keep them as I'm sure there are a lot of people who do throw them away. That's just my guess on the situation though.

Well that is a bit of a strong reaction
I'm sure you'll get a xyloband at your gig

The message was not "if you don't want to keep them hand them back", but "please hand them back"..have no idea if they meant something else, but if indeed they did it wasn't worded right

That said, given Chris' penchant for hyperbole, he's probably playing this one up a bit.

If they really have to then, they might have to compromise and get corporate sponsorship. It doesn't look like they'll have trouble getting it.

But it sounds like from what you wrote, that they weren't making much effort to have them collected.

That's the way things are going these days unfortunately. Although it seems to us on the outside that these major tours are raking in unbelievabiptle sums of money, the costs add up in an equally huge way. Consider that the Times published that Coldplay's touring company's net profits (which are public record) were reported at somewhere around 11.5 million pounds for 2009-10 where for the same period their gross live receipts were right around the 75 million pound mark. It's still a ton of money no doubt, but it's a lot less than you'd think the tour is pulling in.

You should ask those in charge of getting them back why boxes weren't available for this purpose, I have no idea, I was (and everyone else were) as puzzled as you about this.

Also, the xylobands have a twitter logo, so they might be sponsored by twitter
