The new stuff will be better, I'm almost certain of that!

I don't dislike Crack The Shutters because of its music or something. It actually is a good song. But I don't like the way Gary wrote the lyrics. I find it too physical and I don't like that.
Wouldn't talk about 'hate' in the case of Crach The Shutters and me.

Sometimes I feel like a worse fan because I love Eyes Open the most and got into Snow Patrol through it. Basiclly through Chasing Cars on Grey's Anatomy. So it feels like I'm the mainstream Snow Patrol fan and don't know anything about them apart from Eyes Open (which isn't true). (But I feel the same way with Coldplay and X&Y. )

Fair enough about Crack the Shutters!

But as far as feeling like a worse fan, I think that's rubbish. Just because you came a little later to the party (and I definitely did, too!) doesn't make you/us less of a fan. You know A LOT about SP, from what I've seen. A mainstream or casual fan, I think, would only know their singles. You sound like a true fan to me!

I'm still trying to get more into them... for example, I don't have any of their pre-Final Straw albums. That'll be my next task!

I don't know if any of you are on the SP forum (actually, kimgan, I've seen you there, I think!), but Gary just posted a short little note on there yesterday. It's under the SP General forum... thread title is something like "The Goose is Getting Fat"

btw, I feel bad not knowing your names, guys. I'm Jen.

And friggin' love that line! And that song! Damn that whole album is just epic!

My other faves from that album include Run, How To Be Dead, Chocolate and Somewhere A Clock Is Ticking.

Well, I do my very best. After meeting them I kind of feel like it's stupid to go to their gigs and try to meet them afterwards and not knowing them. There was an embarassing scene with Jonny. (All in all I made a total fool of myself infront of each one of them )

And I'm totally obsessed with them and their music. Don't know. Ilione turned me into that SP-addict.

Thanks for making me feel better about the fan thing.

I'm Bianca. Nice to meet you.

yup, i'm on the SP forum too. haha but i didn't know about the post by Gary! must check that out now for sure! & i'm Kimmi. nice to meet you, Jen.

as for joining the party late & what type of fan that makes you, i may have mentioned Final Straw as the one that got me into Snow Patrol, but i should add that i didn't actually get Final Straw until last year. before that i only really knew Chasing Cars cos it was on the radio a lot & Run was from a fan made Doctor Who video on YouTube. & then 1 day i heard Take Back The City & loved it.

i've no idea why to this day, but i was drawn to Final Straw over Eyes Open when i was browsing thru CDs in a shop one fine day.

I also got into the band with Eyes Open, even though "Run" was actually the song that piqued my interest in Snow Patrol. I recall hearing "Chasing Cars" quite a few times on the radio and not really caring for it. I like it a bit more now, but it's one of my least favorites on the album.

"Crack the Shutters" seems like a song that should have been more popular than it was. My local radio station continues to play it frequently (along with - oddly enough - "Shut Your Eyes"), but I guess AHMS didn't have the mainstream appeal that Eyes Open did.

And even though I'm registered on snowpatrol.com, I don't really visit the forum. Maybe seeing them live will change that. After all, I didn't join Coldplaying until after seeing Coldplay live...

The thing with the forum of snowpatrol.com and me is, that I find it a bit frustration hearing all the people complain about some little acoustic gigs and other appereances a bit too often. Sometimes some people there act like they don't really like Snow Patrol. Maybe I'm just reading too less there but ... anyway.

My radio stations LOVE Crack The Shutters and play it more often than Chasing Cars (and they play it like every day).

Hi everyone!
I've never really been on this side of the forum (The World Of Music) so I'm only now finding this thread Just wanted to stop by and tell you that I'm here now so you don't wonder who the hell I am I'm Johku by the way (I don't think I know very many of you)

To give you a bit of background, I got into Snow Patrol around Eyes Open too, so at like 2006. that was the year when I actually properly started to listen to music (good stuff atelast) and also Coldplay favourite album would be Final straw and songs..okay too many, but to mention a few: Chocolate, Set The Fire To The Third Bar, Ways&Means and The Planets Bend Between Us (and ofc Run) etc..
gosh this sounds so official, the message wasn't supposed to turn out like this oh well here we go anyways
And I've never seen them live (I'm really praying that they'll support U2 in august when I'll see them tho it's not very likely is it ) and I'd probably die if I did so.. (like I died at my coldplay concerts too )

Great to have you here, Jo! We are not that many Patrolers, so you'll get used to us pretty quick.

Hello Bernard! (Dare you make a silly joke about my name and your nick! )

Poor Ilione, once she goes away for a week the Snow Patrol thread is busy like never before. We'll keep that, won't we? At least until tomorrow then she'll be back. (Man, can't wait!)

Edit: God, Jo, you JUST DID IT! (Kidding. )

thanks Bianca, I'm really happy to be here

We better keep this thread alive then! Any of you planning on getting the collection box? I don't know if I'll have money for it (a lot to buy right now) and it's killing me! (I'm just listening to Take Back The City and 'and it's killing me' came exactly when I was writing it too )
