Default Album Themes

So i know that VLVODAAHF was kinda French Revolution,Fanfare,Life and death theme. Mylo Xyloto's theme is Old school American Graffeti, White Rose Movement etc. What im wondering is, what were the themes for Parachutes, AROBTTH, X&Y?

I only know that X&Y was somewhat spacey/future themed

Mylo Xyloto is more a story of being yourself in a oppresive environment. The white rose movement and Graffiti are just two examples of that attitude.

I agree with what Thalia said about X&Y . . . but I don't really know that ARoBttH had a theme

I think they started getting really theatrical and sticking with themes starting with X&Y, and really ramped it up for Viva. They want to split their albums up into not just albums, but also into different generations.

I don't know of too many bands whose fans don't call them "albums." We call them "eras," and that's for a reason.

Think about it. They're trying to make us see them in a different light than they used to be perceived as. It's easy to say "MX era" and "Viva era" but can you think of saying "Parachutes era?"

^ That's a good point.

Although I would say that a Coldplay 'era' is classified from the first interview/press release/song to the last day of that album's tour (i.e. the Twisted Logic tour for X&Y)

^Yeah, technically, but looking back at the Viva era I think "revolution, France, feet won't touch the ground, costumes, Jonny's funny hat." Not the day it was released and whatnot.

^Oh yeah. That explains the all-black, scrawny, somber attitude.

But seriously. Best album ever.

Can anyone take hyperbole/a joke/a clever allusion? Damn. Sometimes I wonder if this is a thread for Coldplay or cannibalism because I'm always getting my head bitten off...
