Can't cook? The SuperChef gadget could have your dinner ready when you get home

The rush of TV cookery programmes and celebrity recipe books may have inspired us all to become masterchefs. But now there’s a nifty appliance that does it all anyway.

The SuperChef – described as a one-pot cooker with several pre-programmed functions – could actually have dinner waiting for you when you walk through the door.

So it seems there is no need to put those newly acquired culinary techniques to the test, after all.

The SuperChef one-pot cooker can steam, fry and bake

The gadget can be set to prepare, for example, a steaming stew, pasta dish or a whole roast chicken.

It has 11 cooking functions, which include steaming, frying and baking, as well as a special rice and pasta mode.

Users simply place their ingredients in a removable aluminium bowl, which is non-stick and allows for even heat distribution.

For frying, oil is needed. And for steaming or boiling, the user must add water.

Once the function is selected, electrical heating zones around the bowl fire up to the desired temperature.

As the food is heated, a valve on the top releases any steam, meaning there is no need for a drip tray.
It takes an hour to make a stew, 50 minutes to create a paella and 45 minutes for cakes. However, the SuperChef can be programmed up to 24 hours in advance. And if you are still not quite ready to tuck in, the gadget automatically switches to ‘keep warm’ mode when the food is ready.
The SuperChef, which measures 15 by 11 by 11 inches, costs £199.99 from Lakeland.

TV Shows like Jamie Oliver's have inspired many to cook at home

It comes with several utensils, a measuring cup, steam tray and even a recipe book.
And with its range of cooking functions in one small package, this single gadget clearly saves forking out on pots, pans and other appliances.

Matthew Canwell, Lakeland’s buying director, said: ‘We have launched the SuperChef in response to customers looking for a space-saving, multi-purpose cooker.

‘It fries, it steams, it bakes, it slow cooks – it’s amazing.

‘Why have several bulky kitchen appliances when you can have one sleek, easy-to-use product?’
