I listened to other songs of her as well and boy does she know how to change indie songs into everyday standard commercial crap. Sorry for sounding so harch here, sure she has a great voice and it's cool that you can sing like that, let alone when you're so young, but just ... those songs I love by the original artists but when she/her crew handles them the originality is knocked out and it sounds so familiar ... it has all been done before!
Maybe that's what makes her a hipster ... knowing your indie and then turning it into commercial stuff, sure not many artists do that.

View on Comf sounds cover: Especially in the beginning she seems to focus more on her singing techniques than on putting the right emotions in the singing. Where Jonas sounds like a fragile boy confused by the world and puberty/adolescence, she just tries to hit the perfect note and be great with singing that note a tiny bit later because it flows better. It's okay when Jonas screwes up the singing live, because he still manages to put his emotions in it. That's what I miss most in the song. Maybe it's too much to ask of a 15 year old ... to know what the song is about and sing it accordingly. Also the whole song with the strings etc, sounds too produced. Any rawness is missing in it. And what about the frustrations that are in the Mew song screamed out in the end? There is a big building up in the song, but not as strong as in the original. Where those minutes of building up never bores me in the original song, here it does.

kind to want to sing songs of mew. but I find it unbearable to dirty the image of mew by people claimed to be mew fans.

Hi, I'm a fairly recently converted frenger.

I'm sure some of you went to see Mew live. Do you remember the ticket price? I kind of hope they start a new tour this winter, along with the new album release.

P.S. I sure would have done more research, but Mewsite along with the forums haven't opened up for me for the last week :S

IIRC the ticket face value for me when I saw them in Bristol in 2009 was £14 plus fees.

Tickets vary a lot. In Denmark it's easily 300 Crones, while in countries like Belgium and France they are like 10 euro.

Mewsite and the forum is down for the meantime. The website is changed and updated and then get back online. So, don't worry, everyone is having that problems right now, hahaha.

Their facebook page is still working, you can follow the latest news on there (though they don't say anything about their official website)

The website www.MewX.info (and https://www.facebook.com/mewxinfo) is still online as well. They are always more updated than the official website anyway, so if you want to follow Mew, I advice you to follow that one, hehehe.

Thanks! Wow, I can't even imagine concert tickets for 10 euros anymore! Just hoping they come close enough to afford the travel.

Oh, then I was right about the reason the website closed down! I believe the forum might be the best place to look up everything, though it seems a little bit hostile and disorganized at times. I have to admit, Coldplaying has spoiled me

Since I have that beginner enthusiasm, I can't wait for the new album! I've never anticipated an album before so it's a rather new experience. Now just if that end of the world doesn't ruin their plans

Ah yes, the Mewsite forum has some very evil moderators in there

I hope the forum gets back to life when the new album arrives, right now the forum was dead anyway. No one posted in it anymore. People seem to use their facebook accounts instead It's a pity because new people haven't add Mew fans on facebook yet, of course.

Some other interesting websites might be:

As far as I've managed to read, there were a lot of problems with spamming and overall the mods couldn't do much, since it's owned by Sony. Or something like that.

What even is that last link? It's fun though

I'd like to know so much about them all but it's so difficult compared to Coldplay. Gah, even Apparatjik are easier to dig up things!

Anyway, somewhere I've read an opinion that listening to Mew is like going through a snowstorm but not feeling cold. 6 months later this is still the most accurate description for what I feel.

Yeah, well, that was resolved by only letting new people sign up after their e-mail was checked for not being from a spambot. It was very laborous, so we rather had the caption thingy, but we couldn't. :S I hope that now things will change Also because the forum had so much info in it and also so much fun things in it. The Fallacy thread still makes me giggle when I just think of it. And I miss the comic that one has stopped as well since the forum got so inactive. Forum got in hybernation in this snowstorm. I hope it wakes up when the new spring arrives with the new album

The last link is made by Jonas and doctor Watts (keyboard player in the live-setting, he is the guy in the labcoat) (Have you clicked on the words small, colourful and nutritional?)

Oh, the forum certainly didn't seem like a fun place, but now if you say so, I'll try to find those threads. And a comic? Another thing to find! I did try to register, but never received a confirmation email or anything

Why is doctor Watts called 'doctor'? (Random silly question time ). I've just watched the video diary episodes, now the page is a bit clearer (well not really but I'm used to being confused with bands).
Yes, I did click on everything - Mew and Apparatjik and Magne F have taught me to click around websites like mad

P.S. My And The Glass Handed Kites is shipped! Can't wait for my first Mew CD

P.P.S.

Woah, not been here in aaages. Anyway, I know the guys have been back in the studio but we're not really expecting a new Mew album this year, are we...? It took them bloody yonks to get No More Stories perfected enough to release it. 2014 seems more likely. Maybe next summer if you're feeling especially optimistic

He didn't get a PhD, but he likes to try out what advantages it has just to call yourself a doctor. Like he once said that in a hotel he'd like to call the reception and say something like : "This is Doctor Watts. We have an emergency here, lot's of blood. Quick, I need some alcohol to desinfect. Do you have some?" "No? Oh well, the liquor with the highest alcohol percentage will do fine. But make it quick!"
And then they'll just drink some free booze

^ That's hilarious

Yeah, let's be optimistic about the album Maybe Johan leaving had something to do with the long pause between Kites and No More Stories? It took them 3 years and 11 months and now it's been 3 years. I think a winter release is quite plausible.

Nope. Johan leaving made them think that it would get faster to make an album, because they only had 3 people disagreeing on things, rather than 4. But then they found out that without Johan they also missed his 'catalytic' effect. They had to re-invent the wheel. So, in that way you’re right, because now they know how it’s like to make a CD with them 3 instead of 4. They already have new material now, which is why I think it doesn’t have to take too long from now on. A couple of months I can wait easily, because soon we will have the new Muse, The XX, and Animals Collective, and those should keep me busy, hahaha! :}

This year is musically already so good!!! Where last year I considered Apparatjik's CD as one of the best, this year it has dropped already to like the 10th place. Mew would perhaps do good not to come with a CD too soon. But at the same time I hope they don't take at least another year

Okay, now I think that a new CD will take a while
There's no way that they will have it very soon out.

But at least they are touring again and new websites are on their way!

Bah, the website is on its way for a while, I already stopped whining about that!

Now I just have my fingers crossed for a concert earlier than May in some place I can access. But I have to admit it'd be nice to have a new record in spring to keep my mind sane during exam time
