UPDATE:So, after speaking with PayPal, having them transfer me to various supervisors, etc., this is the final word. Even though you can go through the process of getting "verified" to get rid of any pre-set spending limit from PayPal, it turns out there actually IS an "undisclosed" transaction limit of $10,000 U.S. (which is far below the ebay limit of $15,000). Since the globe was 8,100 British pounds, that is the equivalent of approximately $13,000 U.S., which is over this "undisclosed" limit. So... I'm trying to contact the seller, etc. to arrange other payment. Of course, I'm trying to do that via e-mails, because my cell phone company can't figure out what I'm trying to dial when I call the London numbers. Argh.

CARRIE -- I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with this at the moment, especially since you jumped through all the hoops to become verified. I'm sweating bullets here, but mainly due to the fact that I really want to be in your same position tomorrow night!

TO EVERYONE ELSE --I know that I just suddenly appeared out of the blue the other day, and my newbieness may be throwing people off; that, and a preconceived notion that I'm just another person that enjoys blowing through a whole bunch of money carelously -- fear not. I may be new to this group, but not my love/appreciation for Coldplay.

I'm a longtime fan that:
A) finally found time to join the message board
B) enjoys donating to charities
C) truly wants to make sure that these items are enjoyed by other devotees out there

Here's to hoping that the first stage of my plan goes accordingly...

Are you using a credit card or a bank account for your paypal? Email the charity because they should be able to process a direct billing to a credit card or if you are using your bank account, you can arrange a direct wire transfer through your bank.
And if you need to call overseas, contact your cell provider because most plans make you activate international service.
Good luck.

One verse of Wedding bells, written by Coldplay:
Those wedding bells are ringing up upon that hill
I don't want to swallow such a bitter pill
You keep moving baby, I stay still
I always loved you and I always will
La La La La, La La La La
.. and everything that went before doesn't matter
La La La La, La La La La
I always loved you and I always will

My suggestion to a continuation:
Those wedding bells are ringing, but baby I stay
Sadly you and me just got so far away
Oh, though our time is back in the past
my love for you dear, it will always last
La La La La..

Those wedding bells are ringing, and baby you go
Honey, I'll still stay here as you left me so
I will stay and look back to the start
You will always have a place in my heart
La La La La...

Those wedding bells are ringing, babe I hear the tweet
The sound of them makes me feel so bittersweet
Your feet will move while I stay in place
My love for you dear, it's a living space
La La La La..

Does anyone have any pictures of Chris playing his painted Vox Teardrop guitar during the X&Y tour?

From what I know he played an unpainted Vox Teardrop during some of his perfomances, but I never spotted the painted one during the X&Y tour?

PayPal issues update:

For all of you that have been asking in this thread and via PM, between Monday and Tuesday I have attempted to resolve the issue with PayPal. I have called PayPal directly, and on each occasion they gave me different reasons for why PayPal wouldn't proceed with the checkout process. The most recent reason they gave me (and I'll just go with this one), is that PayPal has an automatic security software at checkout, which screens for unusual transactions. Since my account is brand spanking new (and also probably because the seller is new to ebay), the large purchase got flagged. So even though I went through the process of getting verified through PayPal so there would be no spending limit, and even though I called them to tell them it's okay "it's really me making the purchase", they apparently can't override the internal software.
.
.
.

BUT, here's the good news:

I attempted to contact the seller, Kids Company, and Debs Wild directly via e-mail. I received a response from Debs, which made me breathe a HUGE sigh of relief. Basically, even if you run into problems with PayPal, it will be fine.

Hi
Don't worry... I'm pretty certain it does say within the p&p section that bank transfers will be considered. Also, as it's Christmas you'll have to forgive the fact staff have taken time off and are therefore not always available to answer queries. I'm checking every so often but I do know that a lovely lass called Gemma from Kids Co will be contacting winners so I will forward her your email and then she can handle the issue but as I say don't worry, it will be fine!
Many thanks for your incredible winning bid and out of all the lots, that is the most coveted and what a great piece of history you'll have there. It was the only one that brought a tear to my eye when we were getting it all ready!
Debs

Yes, and this was my response to Debs... tee hee...

Thank you so much Debs, I appreciate you taking the time to respond, and this is quite a relief. Many of the other fans on coldplaying.com who are bidding on items have also shared concerns about PayPal, so it is good to know that everything will be fine.
As the globe brought a tear to your eye when you were preparing the items for the auction, it also brought me quite a few tears of joy when I realized that I was the winning bidder. This is indeed a great piece of history. In terms of album covers, I liken the Parachutes globe to that of the prism on the cover of Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon… except the prism is artwork, whereas the globe actually exists.
Thanks again for your help, and I hope you and the boys have a lovely new year. And if they happen to swing by Michigan at any point during the next few years, they are more than welcome to stop by and visit the globe, as it will reside less than 10 miles from both of the Michigan venues in which they have performed.

- Carrie
