But, I kinda love how people choose Coldplay instead of something else.

Some of the artist i respect.. Like Avril Lavigne's cover of The Scientist.
It just... wasn't very good.

It's like only Chris' voice can sing those songs..

I don't know the guy's name but there was a contestant on American Idol last season who sang Viva La Vida. The result: he was booted off the next night.

I there is a YouTube clip of just the his version but not of the actual performance. What really shocks me are the comments from people saying his version was not bad.

Avril butchered it to tiny little bits and pieces and then threw it to the dogs. My ears bled when I heard that one.

I approach Coldplay covers very cautiously these days, especially after the Lady Gaga incident, so I won't be pressing the play button on those youtube vids in the first post...

However, The Kooks' version of Violet Hill is pretty sweet. That's the only Coldplay cover I actually like.
