Why does Chris sometimes put black tape over his wedding ring?

Nah the ring isn't there at all, he never wears it, is just the tape.

I think he's chosen not to wear a ring and so the tape symbolises it

The ring is not on his finger since like a year and as far as I know Gwyn doesn't wear it either since months.
