Wooo Coldplay coming to CT!! I'm already going to MA in August but of course I wanna go to CT, my home state, too, but I might be going to Chicago that week. I just might have to re-schedule my trip for Coldplay because they're just that important! Haha. Who else is super excited??

^i was worried about that too...but my mom was like "fiiiinne, we'll all go," so it's a family affair . i've turned my brother into a huge coldplay fan, and though he saw them at the today show with me, i think he needs to see a full-length coldplay show too .

the place is not too too big, i've seen lots of concerts there (including my first coldplay concert ever . oh, memories...). it's one of those "shed" vnues where the stage and all the seats are under a pavillion open to the air and the lawn seats are uncovered at the back. obviously we'll all want to get close, so i don't think i need to say DON'T GET LAWN SEATS.

ooh, i found this:
Quote:
The Dodge Music Center is a major open air concert facility in Hartford's North Meadows. The center has a total seating capacity of 30,000 which includes 7500 indoor seats. The center hosts big name concerts each year that include everything from James Taylor to Blink 182 to the Dave Matthews Band.

wow, only 7500 under the pavillion...i guess they can fit a LOT more people on the strip of lawn than i thought

but it's generally a nice venue if you get decent seats in the center (on the sides the sound can be a bit funny, but it's not the worst thing in the world), and i'm SO pumped they're coming back to CT when i can go! (last summer, i was in england when they were here, ironically standing in front of the bakery itself while they were in my 'hood, and now they're coming just a few months before i leave for england again! it might be my last american coldplay show for a good number of years )

anyway, rant over

Thanks for the info Chelsea! It sounds like it's a pretty small venue then (as long as you're not on the lawn)-- I can't wait!!

SQQQUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
The "tri-state area crew", I like it, we're a crew LOL

Wow, Chelsea thanks for that info--7500 seats. We better get good seats So you're recommending getting seats in the 200 or 600sec, rather than the sides??? Even if they're close to stage?

aww, am i in the tri-state crew? (even though i spend most of my time these days in stinky central PA and i'm becoming an expat?)

hmm, well ideally, get close to the stage in the center . but no, the first time i was there seeing coldplay, i was relatively close to the stage but on the side (as far to the right as you could get ) and it wasn't so bad. the sound was sliiiightly wonky and the floor was pretty much flat like it would be in a stadium, but that doesn't mean that you should reject any side seats you get if they're close to the stage! for me, close to the stage is my #1 priority, and i think most of you would agree .

well thanks. i have more where that came from, especially regarding parking and all that for this venue...DON'T PARK IN THE MASSIVE VENUE PARKING LOT. it'll take you hours to get out of it. most of the local businesses around open up their smaller parking lots on concert dates, and though it can be a 5-10 minute walk to the venue, you will save an hour at LEAST in the post-concert traffic in the parking lot. i'd also say wear closed-toed shoes for the walk, since it can be dusty and broken bottle filled . (this is all info that i've learned from my mom, who is the ultimate authority on concerts, though i've experienced all this myself and i know she's right!)

anyway, as far as seats go, most seats in the place (besides lawn seats) are fairly good ones, since it's so small. i saw pearl jam from near the back of the venue this past summer (though in real seats, not the lawn) and the view, while not as close as i'd have liked, was still miles better than sitting in a non-floor seat in an arena. so, if you're forced to get something in the middle or the back of the seated part of the venue, don't dispair too too much, since it's probably going to be better than an arena no matter where you sit
