I don't know what they were thinking but it's a brilliant ending to the song. Sort of has a Strawberry Swing vibe to it

looking back on this song, it does remind me of a sunny day in a poppyfield... the vibe is really nice and you can get good imagery like that easily with coldplay. i always see nice things when i listen to them

but i think more of poppyfields when i listen to violet hill-- on a grey day though. this is purely because my school's drama class did a speechless interpretation of war set to violet hill on remembrance day, haha so less of the music bringing this about and more reminding me of the scene.

Poppyfields reminds me of when me and my first love were laying in a grass field just talking and hugging, and I have never been happier than that moment - with the powder blue sky and the fluffy white clouds... That song bought it all back to me and made my heart smile a million times over

It's beautiful, haunting and minimalist, just the way I like my music.

One might be surprised how much little segments like that contribute to an album. From a distance it sounds like just a bunch of repeated notes, but there are distinct chords, and even some extra sounds to be heard when you listen closely.

The song reminds me of listening to rain at night time at the end
I love the song, don't particularly understand the first few lines but then again if you're in that kind of mood, it just makes sense
I guess it doesn't have to...

Poppyfields makes me think of the end of Gladiator when Maximus is walking through the fields in the afterlife and meets his family.....

I could listen to it for hours.. I play it all the time on the piano, which can honestly sound pretty cool. Coldplay seems to create so many soundscapes but never seem to finish them or don't release because they don't believe they are any good. I wish they would just make demos of them all and just release them via Coldplay.com or soundcloud.. something... :/
