Regardless of whether or not you agree with obama. this is really a big deal. i don't think i understand, being from the era that i'm from how racist this country was just 35 years ago. its really a big deal.

Although that I was a supporter of McCain, I am glad that he has won it and I feel really proud of our country that we have gotten this far. I think that regardless of what party we are affiliated or lean towards that we should all celebrate and be proud.

I'm just sorry race has been such an issue in the last few decades after all of the hard work, sweat and toil of people thirty/forty/fifty years ago, that people would have to make a big deal now because of our president's skin color. I never considered either candidate by their skin color, and certainly wouldn't have been celebrating another candidate winning because he or she had a certain color skin.

I met a lot of people who said they were voting for Obama because he was black. I don't think your skin color should be the deciding factor, I certainly hope mine isn't! So many people worked very hard for our country to be equal... and it just seems to be going against that to still be making such a hard point about that now.

The upsetting thing is, he's not officially black, and people keep using that against him/using it to specify him. He's just as much white as he is black... a lot of reporters don't seem to get that, though. There's an article about it somewhere, I'll try to find it and link to it.
