Default LOVE FOR COLDPLAY!!!!

First of all, let me apologize if a thread like this has already been done, but I havent been through all the threads to find out if it has or not!!

Anyway, I thought I would ask everyone, what was it about Coldplay that made you become a fan, albeit a casual one or a true hardcore one?? what attracted you to the band?? Was it their music, the band itself, them as people?? How did you all become fans in the first place??

Well, for me personally, if anyone told me 3 or 4 years ago that I would be a Coldplay fan, I would have gone into convulsions of laughter and told them "GET OUTTA HERE!!" Now, I eat, drink, sleep, breathe and LIVE Coldplay!!

I was drawn to them because of their deep, thought-provoking, spiritual music!! I was drawn to them as people because they have this fantastic self-deprecating sense of humour and they dont think too much of themselves and they even laugh at their own mistakes, which is so rare these days among bands!!

I was drawn to them because they really care for their fans and they are always trying to narrow the gap between artist and fans and they never talk down to their fans and they treat their fans with total respect and regard us fans as equals!! Most bands and performers seem 2 make the gap wider and wider, but Coldplay dont and actually every Coldplay concert is not only their concert but the fans concert as well!!

I was captivated by them for their charity work yet they are not trying to be ego-Messiahs(like someone else I know!!!!!!). They really care about other people and the world around them!!

I also love the way, that they try to be all things to everyone!! If you want romance you have it, if you want spirituality you have that as well!!

Plus the fact that they are a very sexual/spiritual band as well!!

Actually, one of their songs saved my life earlier this year!! I was on the verge of commiting suicide and I was actually looking for some pills to overdose on and then for some unknown reason God Put A Smile On My Face came into my head and suddenly everything in my life became brighter!!!

I OWE MY LIFE TO COLDPLAY!!!

THANK YOU COLDPLAY FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!

well basically, this is how it started. it was january of 2005. like, two feet of snow were on the ground and i was stuck inside, flipping through music video channels. now i have this routine every once and a while where i just listen to random things that i don't know, to find new music i might like. so coldplay's "speed of sound" comes on mtv, or vh1 or whatever. i'm sitting there with my jaw open, thinking "HOW THE FUCK DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THESE GUYS? AND WHO IS THAT LEAD SINGER? HE'S ADORABLE!"

so i rush over to the computer and check out more of their stuff. i like, cried when i heard every song they had out... and i was a fan ever since.

every coldplay song i've ever heard speaks to me in some way. they make the most beautiful music i've ever heard, and they'll always have a place in my heart. !

I've only gotten into Coldplay fairly recently, and it was 'cause my friend and my brother both seriously loved Viva La Vida (the song). So I downloaded it, listened to it, was like, "Alright, this song is cool." I ended up downloading a leak of the whole album before it came out (I think?) without even knowing it, because I thought I was downloading a leak of the song they did with Kylie Minogue.

Later on, I saw the video for Violet Hill on MTV or VH1, one of those, and just fell in love with it. I had this attraction to Chris at first, and would watch the video over and over again, being all like, "Omg, ily." XD And there's this personal level of love too, where in mid-July, I had a few personal problems, and I would sit alone at night and just write messages to myself. I'd always end up crying. In order to stop myself from crying, I would turn on Coldplay, and Chris' voice would just soothe and calm me down.

Later in July, I downloaded TONS of their songs because I had this thing where I was supposed to leave the internet for about a week, so I wanted to have lots of Coldplay to listen to. I realized what the hell I've missed these past few years, with all the beautiful music and lyrics and the amazing people who were apart of it all. I just ended up falling in love with the band. And since then, I've been a fan.

I think I've definitely told this story before, but I don't mind telling it again:

I was watching the Grammys and happened to see them perform Politik with the New York Philharmonic. I don't really know exactly what it was, but something about that performance was so passionate and intense that it really stuck with me. The next day I went out and bought AROBTTH. And then things just escalated to an absolutely absurd degree from there. I'm sure many people here can relate to that.

Mmm...well for me.
It began...2000? And my sister and Dad had heard Yellow on the radio (it woulda just been released) and told me I'd like it. When I first heard it, I was like "yer..whatever".
Then it grew on me (by the second listen lol)...then Dad and I went and bought the album (Parachutes) - the guy at the shop said "Yer, its really good, the rest of it isn't as heavy as Yellow".
When we brought it home all I can remember is listening to Shiver and going 'Yeah right.."

But then that grew on me...big time. I've been an obsessive ever since. I listened to Parachutes in the bath just to chill. I was too young to know anything bout albums or anything at the time. But when I heard Clocks on the TV, I found out that AROBTTH had came out. So I went and bought that. Then that got stolen. So for 4ish months I was without AROBTTH. Til I craved it so much that I bought it again as well as the Live2003.
I still remember that day and listening to In My Place and going "omgosh this song is too good".

Yep, then I just lived on their website...eventually found Coldplaying (actually, I found it ages before, but didn't know about the forum)..and the rest is just the usual obsessive Coldplayer stuff -- check the websites everyday for new information bout bsides, live songs, release of X&Y, touring, seeing them live, the mass build up to Viva...present.

Yeah coldplay seems to make our lives better............
I try to listen to them every now and then and if i would tabulate my music listening ..coldplay would be the most ive listened to in my whole life!

I believe we all have the same thoughts here..... its how we all got into coldplay similar..... Yellow was also the first song that got me into coldplay...

and yeah theyre the best band in the world...... the most decent,,,,,, I think they do not do drugs and drink as much and get into trouble...... they have a squeaky clean image... that makes a good role model to their millions of fans and to the generation ..... and they try to do everything to try and help the world.....

Theyre such a brilliant amazing band ever!
