Default The Tour De France Thread

Well, the Tour's nearly over, but I was amazed nobody had made a thread already for this thrilling event.

It may have been tarnished by drug cheats in recent years, but I firmly believe that this tells us merely that the cycling drug tests and anti-doping policies are actually working and finding the cheats.

In the meantime...come on Cadel Evans!!!

Ill watch it again in a few years when ALL the cheaters are gone, which I believe will happen, theyre making good progress.

But hey, Im not just biased against cycling, Ive stopped watching MLB baseball and NFL football due to drug and cheating problems. Im waiting till all sports are clean again.

Maybe next year for Tour de France!

The shine has definitely been taken off by all the drug cheats.

However, I was mightily impressed with Mark Canvendish, and am now looking forward to seeing him in the Olympics.

I'm amazed by Vandevelde.
He's in top form and could be a podium finisher.
I really didn't expect him to do that well.
Along with Cavendish, four stage wins, are you kidding me?

I'm kinda pissed that they didn't let Astana enter, I mean, they had 2 of the top three finishers last year and 3 favorites.

I'm still pissed about Astana too! The Astana of this year is almost completely different from that of last year.

C'mon Cadel!!!

yeah, Astana this year is pretty much team Discovery Channel.

I mean, they've got Benjamín Noval, Levi Leipheimer, Alberto Contador, and freaking Johan Bruyneel.

Ah well.

I still get the annual email from Ian... 'any good crashes yet?'

I raced for over 10years so I know how hard it is, especially the climbs on stage 17... did them all in one day as well but with first 2 reversed. Galibier is much harder from the other side!

If you're ever in that area visit Briancon. Gorgeous.

Dude.

You sir, are my hero. Wow.

My dad used to race too. He still rides nearly every day. I hate to even think about the crashes- I've seen him have too many nasty ones.
