and on that note, that's fine if you don't like it. We've got that point. now can this be done or is this to continue?

How are the songs second rate??
they're not at all!

the new songs are probably the freshest material they've released since AROBTTH.

parachutes wasn't even as good as that album.
for me, parachutes was 4 or 5 songs.

Don't Panic
Yellow
Trouble
Everything's not lost/Life is for living
Shiver.

so if you're talking song wise, Parachutes has SOME good material.

whereas album wise, AROBTTH, or VLV even X&Y are better, because there are more good songs on.

AROBTTH, practically every song on there is a classic.
with exceptions of course.

X&Y was too long, but nontheless has great songs on it as a collective.

Parachutes doesn't have that.

there are alot of fillers on parachutes.

High speed, for example. Sparks.... We never change.
it's a very acoustic album
which made for boring concerts.

I didn't even start this thread. Ppl came here to say they like VLV but prefer the old songs, they were not even complaining, and a bunch of obsessed groupies tried to shut them down, so i decided to back them up.

I don't even know why i try to talk about music here, X&Y won the best album poll, insane. I should only chat about their new costumes, chris' hair and the album cover.

Look man, nobody's saying you're wrong to debate it, or whatever.

but the way you go about it, you're like
"you're a dumbass for not agreeing with me"

and to be fair, no opinion is wrong.
music is the most opinionated thing in the world.
there's a great divide between what people do and don't like.

and whereas it's healthy to debate,
it's not really just for you to be agressive because people don't agree with you.

How did you know I'm wearing my "obsessed coldplay groupie" shirt today? Where's yours?

This thread was a healthy debate until you felt the need to call someone a dumbass as if that would get your point across. Everyone is free to express their feelings on this album, but theres no need to get offensive. I like to think that coldplay fans hold themselves in a higher regard then say...Britney spears fans....and that we can be civil enough to have a healthy debate.

look it's obvious that a few people here are clashing,
I'm sure you're a great guy when you're not banging on about your opinions.
so lets just agree to disagree and leave it at that.

and I also agree with Shivanair about being better than some fans.

I have this opinion which others probably won't agree with.
but I think that Coldplay have mostly produced their strongest material with Parachutes and AROBTTH.... so anything they make from now on is always going to be slightly contrived, always influenced by how the world perceives "Coldplay" now......how big their band is and how that's influenced them, because you cannot say that it's not influenced Chris' lyrics since X&Y......

Don't get me wrong though, I am really, really liking VLV. It has a more restrained feel with regards to 'stadium style songs, which I'm happy they've veered away from with the exception of VH and VLV maybe. It feels more personal and I like how each song is more varied in layout in comparison to the previous 3 albums that had really rigid structures......verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge etc etc . This might be what makes it or breaks it for some of the songs on the album.....some it works so nicely, having it differently...others, they need more structure, a louder chorus perhaps.......(echoing what many of you have said already in this thread)

but thats what I think at the moment.........I think they've done well with VLV though, as everytime I listen to it, it changes my mind more...
