Default Lyric crossing

So I was listening to "Bucket For A Crown" and I notice that Chris says "I don't want to be the captain of a sinking ship"
And couldn't help but think about how similar that is to "I don't want to be a soldier, of a captain on some sinking ship.."

Anybody else notice how they incorporate their lyrics from other rare songs? Like in "Talk" they refer to a ladder to the sun, when we all know that that's another CP song floating around.

Just a friendly observation

cool observation.. i think it happens similar thing to other artists...

i guess that is their 'worries' in some way, some main deep ideas they personally have may be.

Interesting point man. Though I *THINK* the lyric is "Who the captain of some sinking ship / would stow / far below" but there is a distinct similarity

Hmmm... good observation.
I try to avoid it when I write songs.
Maybe they want their listeners to know that they hate sinking ships, especially if they are the captain.
Damn those sinking ships.
It all a mystery to us!

^Its a very old Coldplay song that Chris Martin performed at a secret gig with a Violinist!
It was rumoured to be on VLVADAAHF. Here is the link!

The "sinking ship" is CP after X&Y. Chris doesn't want to be the frontman (captain) of band going downhill...

Wink rooftops motive ;)

Has anyone noticed a lyric (well, maybe just one word) crossing in Viva la Vida songs? :
in Violet Hill Chris sings "from the rooftops I remember"
and in Lovers in Japan (or Death and all his friends? I'm totally confused now) there's also "on the rooftops let's get married" or something like this
That just brings me images of them sitting on the rooftops in their fancy clothes and watching Paris burn during the revolution in 1789 Well that's just my imagination probably

"But if you never try, you'll never know"
-Fix You

"If you never try, then you'll never know"
-Speed of Sound

Both are my favorite song quotes
