Default Could this be Coldplay's "Achtung Baby"?

Being a huge coldplay fan as well as a huge U2 fan, I got to thinkin. With all the buzz about how different this new album is with its sound could this do for the band what achtung baby did for U2? Could this be the album that completely reinvents the way people think of coldplay? I don't know, its just a thought. I hope so.

P.S. I really hope all of you guys and gals have listened to Achtung baby to get what I am talking about. If you have not listened to it, do it. its a classic album. you will not be disappointed.

I don't know, I kinda liked Joshua Tree a little better. Achtung Baby is growing on me though.
I'd like to think this will be their Revolver, personally. Now that I love.

Since Achtung! is German for Attention!, the new Coldplay release would have to be named in German as well to be similar... Well, maybe - who knows - it's a Eno production...

I think that's exactly what they're hoping for...probably why they went with Eno in the first place. And yes, it's a great album, although The Unforgettable Fire's still my favorite.

It's got the whole foreign language in the title thing going for it too.

I think it will be they are going in the opposite direction Gorillaz did with Demon Days. Instead of getting less experimental and more mainstream, they're getting more experimental and becoming a little weirder. But because of the popularity the already have, I can guarantee that this album will be No. 1 in the UK no doubt.

I hope you're right, something more experimental could really expand coldplay's potential and fan base as well. they got something to prove here, this album could either make or break coldplay... and i don't know about you but i hope it brings them to a whole new level.

If you take it on a purely chronological basis, this coldplay album is homologous to U2's "The Unforgettable Fire", which also was a huge re-invention for U2, and also the exact point at which Brain Eno was brought it, right after the third album. It has to do with what the guys themesleves are bringing up lately, the fact that they see their first three albums as a TRILOGY, after three albums, RE-INVENTION.

Is it a pattern?

It has been for U2:

1 Boy
2 October
3 War

RE-INVENTION (Brian Eno comes in)

1 The Unforgettable Fire
2 The Joshua Tre
3 Rattle And Hum

RE-INVENTION

1 Achtung Baby
2 Zooropa
3 Pop

RE-INVENTION

1 All That You Can't Leave Behind
2 How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
3 ? (next album coming out this fall)

Coldplay is here:

1 Parachutes
2 A Rush Of Blood To The Head
3 X&Y

RE-INVENTION (Brian Eno comes in)

1 Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends
2 ?
3 ?
...and so on until completing the cycle.

Believe it or not, The Beatle's career follows exactly the same pattern. Both The Beatles, and U2, went full circle, completed a cycle; and Coldplay is apparently destined to do the same, thus, completing, a greater TRIAD: Beatles-U2-Coldplay.

I hope I don't sound too arrogant. I have been working on this for a while, and I am convinced now that Coldplay is the THIRD BAND. It has to do with the highest purpose of Rock n' Roll, and Coldplay has taken on the responsibility.

Peace and Love.

Is the order in the universe? Yes, but it's never quite the same outcome every time.. Glad someone's trying to make sense of this - I'd go quite insane doing so.
