Mother fined for swearing at neighbourhood yobs

A mother was fined and could even face jail after swearing at yobs who terrorised her neighbourhood.
Donna Appleyard finally snapped after two years of misery in which youths jumped over fences, trampled through gardens and shouted and swore at local residents.
Ms Appleyard, 32, a mother-of-two, claims she made countless complaints to police about the gang outside her home in Coniston Place, Knottingley, West Yorks. Things finally came to a head on March 30 when she lost her temper and swore at her abusers.
"I was at the end of my tether and I admit I swore at one of them. But that's nothing compared to what my neighbours and I have suffered," she told the Yorkshire Post.
"When the police came I thought it was because I had complained. I never dreamed they had come to arrest me. I'm really angry that we've had to put up with this behaviour for almost a year, and then you can be taken to court and fined for shouting back at them."
Police said Ms Appleyard received a fixed penalty notice for a public order offence following a complaint by a 13-year-old girl.
Ms Appleyard said said she was given an £80 fixed penalty notice but refused to pay and was taken to court last month. Magistrates then raised the sum to £120 which she must now pay or face a jail term, it was reported.
Sergeant Neil Haley said today: "We appreciate that anti-social behaviour can be frustrating for people but they should not take the law into their own hands.
"We would encourage people to report criminal or anti-social behaviour by contacting the Neighbourhood Policing Team."

I dont like swearing. Its vulgar. If i do swear its because ive managed to injure myself in some form. (ie walking into Lamposts like i did earlier)

No i'm fine. I was walking slow and not watching where i was going and walked straight into it. Scared the hell out of me.

this story reminds me of two people on a tram and an off duty officer overheard them using vulgar language in a private conversation. Needless to say, arrests were made
