Default Pitchfork

yes, we all know they can be bastards and simply call down some albums/artists. but thanks to them i've discovered many promising artists and i always check their "free downloads" section, they put actually some good stuff there...sometimes

They completely bashed X&Y.

That's what turned me off of Pitchfork and onto NME.com.

Yeah I'm with all of you. Sometimes they are way too harsh on what I feel are good albums. And yes, the free downloads are good ... most of the time haha.

Sometimes there's some rally wack stuff there too!

but their Best New Music section is pretty good. Check that out. That's how I got into Danielson, Band of Horses, and some others.

It's a good news source. Their reviews are far too long-winded and self-important for me to care about whether or not they like anything I like.

NME.com is actually quite amazing. I found out about Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, and a few other bands a few years back because of them (inadvertantly).

Likewise. Their review of Kid A was outstanding. Can't say the same about X&Y's though.
