FEIST!!!

hahaha

Well I guess here in Canada she has had lots of attention throughout her career.

However the iPod ad was enough to get her a new artist nomination for the Grammys for her third album.

And for her to explode internationally. Like Metric with Fantasies, only their album was good enough it didn't need an ipod ad!

So did Metric break through in Australia with Fantasies?
Its hard to judge your own countries band's international following/exposure.

Yeah for sure. It was given as 'Album of the week' on alternative radio station 'Triple J' which plays all the album tracks for one week throughout their normal playlist. It wasn't so crash hot on commercial radio, though.

Cool. Gotcha. We don't really have a good alternative Radiohead station here. Its either top 40 crap, oldies, or rock with way too much Nickleback.
Although one of our online stations CBC Radio 3 is rather spectacular.

I'm actually starting to get tired of male voices, and trying to find music with powerful female voices instead

Same here, although I think it was Feist that hooked me first. I never had anything against female singers, but they didn't appeal to me for longer. Now I enjoy them every bit as much as male vocalists, however.

hahahaha not wrong at all

Really, the only females I've ever listened to are Feist, Metric, The Knife/Fever Ray, Bjork and now Joy Formidable.
I don't really know the right word for the vocals I'm looking for other than strong, but any artist would do probably.

i got fantasies for xmas. i've listened to it a bit these last few days and it's great. I've heard blindness before and i really liked it (thanks briggins for showing me that song).

the other songs on that album i really really like a lot are Collect Call, Stadium Love, and Gimme Sympathy
