an easy way to learn Strokes guitar or bass parts. Is to work out what key the song is in, and then if you don't know it already, learn that major/blues scale. The Strokes never go out of those, so all you've got to do is stick to those scales

well this is my version
thom, let's both post ours on mxtabs shite its long

the strokes
barely legal

! Copy On To NotePad !

note: there shouldn't be any pauses when playing these sections, i made it like that so it's easier to read, instead of counting all the notes, although there is a pause after the chorus

*the chorus is difficult for me to figure out there are several ways to play it and i wrote out two; play around with it, i'm probably wrong but everything else is 100% right
-the optional chorus is at the bottom
1st and 2nd verse:
G:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A:------------------------------------------------------------33333333-33333333-33333333-33333333 x8
E:33333333-33333333-33333333-33333333------------------------------------------------------------

pre-chorus bit
G:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------77777777-77777777-77777777-77777777/ <-- optional slide upward
A:55555555-55555555-55555555-55555555-77777777-77777777-77777777-77777777-----------------------------------------------------------
E:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*chorus
G:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A:55555555-55555555-77777777-77777777-55555555-55555555-77777777-77777777 x2
E:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3rd versecount to 16 or wait until 2:15 if you play with the cd)
G:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A:----------------------------------------------------------------33333333-33333333-33333333-33333333 x1
E:15/33333333-33333333-33333333-33333333------------------------------------------------------------

G:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A:------------------------------------------------------------33333333-33333333-33333333-33333333 x2
E:33333333-33333333-33333333-33333333------------------------------------------------------------

pre-chorus

*chorus

end on
G:------
D:------
A:-10-
E:------

*optional chorus:
G:------------------------------------------------------------
D:7777-----------------------9999-----------------------
A:-------7777-5555-7777--------7777-5555-7777
E:------------------------------------------------------------

ah fuck
for the optional chorus
it should start on 5 and then go to 7
instead of starting on 7 and going to 9
but the notes on the A string are right

well, it sounds okay when i play em.
but you could just pay those notes on a different string. like, instead of playing 7 and 9 on the g srting, play 5 and 7 on the a string.
but i think it sounds more intense when you play it on the g string.

and whoa, congrats man, i'll start working on is this it after i finish the bends.
man, its taking me years to figure out how to play those radiohead lines.

thom i had a stroke of brilliance and figured it out
for the chorus:
D:55555555
A: 77777777 55555555 77777777

and then keep repeating the last half of what i just wrote and end on
A:10
