Default How do I get recognized as a singer?

I'm just getting into that feeling where I want to start singing in front of an audience, but I don't really know where to start?

Anyone any ideas?

Once I was recognized as a singer when I did drunken karaoke to Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way" if that's helpful

i think you could start by singing in front of your family so you can get more confident and then you can sing in pubs, i know that doesn't sound really glamorous or whatever but that's a way to start and get people to know your music.

wish you luck

Here are my thought.

Step 1: Make covers to Youtube. And they are pretty good and put them on itunes.
Step 2: Let youtube people know you. I think it needs time.
Step 3: Make your own music. (Original Songs, albums or something.)
Step 4: Get any chance to sing in public.

Then, you will be a singer!

Good luck.

Yep youtube. And if that's not live enough, then just go to a shopping street and sing on the street!

Been singing for a year in public so I'm confident enough to sing more now. My family know I sing and they've heard me so all is fine there. I think it's just bridging the gap, and I'm ready to do it.

I know maybe pubs are good place, it's just finding the right ones for my style of singing!

I would have thought you should try to play wherever you can? (At least when you're starting off.) Also try small local festivals/ events if there's any in your area?
