I think this will majorly decrease the amounts of lovely written posts with funny smileys and stuff.

I can understand where the thanks button comes from, because now people can just thank the post instead of having a post quoted many times with a thank you.
I guess it could work like that with lol as well, except that I don't think so many people would use the feature. I think most lols are in people's own posts anyway and where do we stop? Should we then have a "I agree" button as well? And a "disagree" button? What about a "lol-no" button? A "maybe" button? A "rofl" button, a "chuckling" button, a "surprised" button, a "wow, didn't know that yet" button?

How many people are clicking the LOL button only when they are laughing out loud, or are people using it like 'oh, that was a bit funny, I smiled though it didn't show on my face' ?

Are there going to be statistics on this as well underneath people's avatar? I hope not
