Default Sore throat stopping my singing

Hey guys.
I normally enjoy singing alot but the last few months I've had some kind of sore throat, Its only hit me recently how long this has lasted. I haven't been able to sing my full range since February. Sometimes there's a sharp pin pain in my throat, others times it feels like there is a small lump that feels asif its blocking my airway just causing a sense of general discomfort.... I have tried to warm up my voice on many occasions but to no luck.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can remedy this situation, much longer and I shall visit the doctors but I feel they would just turn me away with a sore throat

PS my singing voice in my lower and falsetto registers is fine...
Lump on inside of throat is on left side, above my tonsols (which doctor said were fine)
Left nostril breathing ability has reduced with my right doing most the work
throat isnt in pain as such, just mild discomfort
Went to the doctors, he barely saw the lump, said my throat looked fine (despite the asymmetry this lump is causing) just said I should rest my voice... Either way, its getting worse. Any help wold be appreciated

Thanks
Jack

hey! sorry to hear about your sore throat. you could try this, it's pretty effective:

take a ginger root and cut some of it up but don't chop it...just cut it in chunks or slices (preferably thick slices). you can peel the bark. then put the ginger roots in a pot with some water and add some cinnamon (optional). boil it. afterwards just sieve the stuff and drink the water....it's like a tea...you can add sugar.

if it's complicated, just cut some ginger root, peel it and chew it....

i hope that helps!

It seems to help temporarily, ive been drinking it for the past couple of days but I still cant sing properly. Im trying to let my voice rest a little, but its too tempting to sing I enjoy it too much lol... Also, it tastes quite nice

same thing with me

for the past 3 weeks I've been having this cough and having stuff get clogged in my throat. I actually got so bad that I could barely sing at my concert with my acapella group so I had to improvise. I'm still sick

I wanna try the ginger thing, but i dont have any
someone told me something about honey but i dont know how that works

hey! sorry to hear about the sore throat! yeah honey works too....try putting a spoon of it in your tea.

@Jack: sorry that the problem is still going on, you could try the honey thing too and let's see if that helps... (i'm glad you liked the ginger! sorry that the relief was only temporary)

If i get any more ideas i'll share!

Ive discovered why my voice is poor as of late....

I opened my mouth wide and looked in the mirror with good lighting, I have a lump on the back of my throat with what looks to be a deep cut on it, its pertruding out and pushing the shape of my arch... its in the same place where I get the discomfort, so problem solved, im going to book an appointment at the doctors. Thing is, I don't remember a sharp pain when eating or anything, and this must have been here for a long time, i had looked once before, but it was pretty dim lighting and i didn't notice it.. that or its got a lot bigger since then...

****

seen a doctor now, he said things like this can come and go but essentially its nothing to worry about, he said the asymmetry wasn't too much of a cause for concern but said that I should see a throat specialist about my vocal chords (which are much further down the throat) as the symptoms i described, grainy voice, difficulty reaching notes is worrying - but not related to the lump at the back of my mouth. I think I will be taking the docs advise but first I will be resting my voice for 2 months - if I can manage to not sing for all that time....
