I don't care about this. Why? Because whilst what happened was bad, it isn't a state of emergency and there is no reason to donate to this charity. Kony isn't in Uganda, he hasn't done anything in six years and he no longer holds an army that is capable of doing much at all.

Kony is a bad man, but this Kony 2012 campaign is a scam. There are a million more international issues that deserve far more attention than this.

I finally watched this last night, and it really wasn't quite as impacting as I was expecting. I didn't learn anything about what I'm expected to donate towards, about a quarter of it was very brief and vague information about Kony, and very little detail about exactly what he's doing and who it affects, the rest was about posters, bracelets, celebrities and crowds of Americans monotonously repeating phrases like zombies (That bit was hilarious).

Overall it was about being involved in activism instead of the reasons for being an activist in itself.

I don't doubt they spend a lot of money on travel and marketing. I know they aren't perfect, no company or charity is. They did however, put enough pressure on the US government to send soldiers to protect some of these areas. That's a first, and I see it as some sort of accomplishment.

I think you can support this cause without giving money (if that worries you). There are tons of politicians you can write to listed on their website. It's free, and you can still feel worthwhile doing something.

But Kony has not even done a thing to Uganda -- or even been seen -- in the past six years. Kiame posted a video about a Ugandan girl who posted her thoughts on this. Yes, what Kony did was bad. But, it has been over for a long, long time and Invisible Children just want money.
