The water dripped down from the gutter as I walked by, every drop hitting me on my shoulder. Just my luck. Walking down dark alleys was now my way of life, drugs are now my way of life. I opened the door, the door that I have been opening every evening for the last four months. The usual routine. "Alright, mate?" I said to the door man, like I always did. I entered into another room where lots of people were sat around a table in a dimly lit room. They all looked up, smiled and then looked back at the table where they were dealing. I walked past the table to the counter, the place to buy some drugs. The person behind the counter always seems to be different every day and today wasn't any different. "Alright, what can I do for you?" asked the man who was covered in tattoos and had a cigarette behind his ear. "I'd like some coke please" I replied. "Sure, what's the name then?" the man asked. "Chris, Chris Martin" I answered.

I threw the cash on the table and he gave me the coke. I ran over to a table, opened the packet and dropped the contents onto the table. I got my credit card out of my pocket and cut it up into a dust like state. I pulled out my wallet and got out a £20 note, rolled it up and started to snort the coke. I grunted and shook as it entered my system, continuing to snort every little bit up my nose. After five minutes, it was all gone. I was high, I ran out of the den, pushing past many people and back into the dark alley. I was shaking as I fell to the floor outside, a few people walked past I clutched my chest, one of them whispered "look a crack head!". I ignored it and brought myself to floor and staggered past the alley and onto the main street.

I saw stars in my eyes as I staggered onto the road. I couldn't see anything other than the stars and the only thing I could hear was me breathing and the sound of car horns, beeping me, I knocked into one and quickly moved away before falling on top of anothers bonnet. I shook more as I ran across the road on to the pavement and ran into a nightclub. There was a bouncer at the front. "Do you want to go in?" he asked me. I didn't answer, I could barely hear what he was saying, I began to vomit, onto his shoe. "What the fuck are you doing?" he shouted, pushing me away onto the pavement, I saw blue flashing lights coming towards me as I began to close my eyes.

The doctors have said you have to stay!" Gwyneth demanded. "I don't care what they think!" I replied, as I began to get my own clothes on. "Chris! get back in bed!" Gwyneth shouted. I ignored her and walked out of the ward. Doctors and nurses shouted my name as I walked out the door. Gwyneth ran after me, I quickly got into the lift and down to the bottom floor to the exit. I walked out, into the car park. I reached for my phone out of my pocket and called a taxi. Gwyneth had caught up to me. "Chris! What the hell are you doing?" she screamed, people looking at her. The taxi was here. "Just leave me alone!" I shouted as I got into the taxi.

"So where do you want to go?" asked the taxi driver. "Here's £100, take me some place far away!" I said, producing £100 worth of notes. "Yes sir" he replied and began to drive away from the hospital, as I sat back in my seat. My phone began to ring, I looked at it. It was Gwyneth. I wound down the window and threw my phone out, layed across the seats and demanded the taxi driver to wake me up when we are there.

This isn't funny at all. If we are dead, how did we die?" I asked. "A lorry crashed into us, up on the motorway! We are dead. I can prove it, come with me and I will introduce you to God." he said.

Laughing as I walked, I followed him. There was lots of people around on the softest road I have ever walked across. There were no trees and no cars. There were not many children around and lots of old people. There were also lots of baby. There was lots of escalators with people going up and down them. As far as I could see there was a gate, a massive one, painted white. "What's your name?" I asked to the taxi driver. "My name is Moses" he said, smiling. "Really? That is my son's name, I better give him a call and Gwyneth!" I said, gritting my teeth. "A call? I bet you that you can't find a phone box!" Moses said, laughing. "Alright, alright! Where the hell are we? Tell me the truth! What is going on?" I demanded. "I can answer that!" said a voice from behind, I turned round. The man was the spitting image of my grandfather. "Grandad?" I asked. "Oh hey God!" said Lukas. I looked to Lukas who was smiling. "Well arn't you going to say hello to God, Chris?" asked Lukas.

You see me as you Grandfather because he is the person you most missed in your life. God is anyone you want him to be and you want God to be your grandfather. Moses here see's me as his father who died at the age of 30. This little girl beside me see's me as her mother, who is alive, on earth" said God. "This all seems like a joke! Are you joking. I'll never see Gwyneth again?" I asked and at that moment, God morphed into Gwyneth. "Gwyneth! Your here!" I said, staring at her. "Isn't this great?" she replied. "How is Moses?" I asked and at the moment, she morphed into little Moses. "Moses! Moses! Oh how I miss you!" I said, as I walked over to hug him but my arms went straight through him. "I guess, I can't touch you but remember Moses I love you and your sister v-" before I could say anything else, he morphed into Apple. "Apple! My darling daughter!" I said, "I miss you so much!".

God morphed back into my grandfather. "So, I'm dead then." I said. "Yes, you are!" he replied, walking towards me. "You have been very bad, Chris. You took drugs behind your family's backs and ran away from your loving wife!" he said. "I know, I know, I got it all wrong!" I replied, starting to cry. "I've got an option for you" said God. He continued, "I can send you back to your old life on the condition that you look after your family. They will not be able to recognise you and you have got them to love you again, that is your task, You need to marry Gwyneth again and when you do that, you stay. If you do one bad thing, you will come straight back here!" he said, smiling. "I'm not sure!" I replied, looking at the floor. "Chris, you can either make amends and see your family again or never, ever see them again" he said, putting his hand on my shoulder. "Okay, okay. I'll do it!" I said, smiling. "Good, good, when I clap your hands, you will be back where you died, everything will be like what it was before except no one will know who you are, your children will also still be alive but they don't know who their father is and neither does Gwyneth. You need to convince them and get married to Gwyneth and never do a bad thing again!" he said. "I'm not sure If I'm-" God clapped his hands. "Ready" I said. I was back on earth.

"Get off the road you dickhead!" Is what I heard as I opened my eyes. I was in the middle of the motorway, holding up traffic. I guess this is where I died. I stood up. "Sorry everyone, I will move now, sorry for the inconvenience" I said, looking around. I was definetely back on earth but where on earth was a different question. I ran off the motorway and down an embankment where I found a street. I looked at the steet sign. "It's Violet Hill!" I shouted in excitement, I knew where I was. I ran to sit down on a bench.

What can I do now? I have no money and no one knows me. I put my hands together and prayed to God. "God, I now know that you are there, please, please help me on my journey. I have no money, how do I get back home?" I said and at that moment a car pulled up. The window went down and the driver, a tall man, told me to get in. I got in. "Who are you?" I asked as he began to drive. "I'm just a nice person, a well wisher. Where would you like to go?" he asked. "Do you know where The Bakery is?" I asked, relaxing. "Oh yeah, the place where Coldplay hang out!" he replied, smiling. "They are my favourite band" he continued. "Thank you!" I said, smiling. "Why did you say thank you?" he said, looking puzzled. "I'm Chris Martin, the lead singer!" I said, looking proud. He laughed. "Haha! Who the hell is the Chris Martin?" he said, continuing to laugh.

"Are you joking with me here?" I asked, my head in my hands. "How many members are there?" I continued, shaking my head. "Four, everyone knows that! There is Will on drums, Guy on Bass, Jonny on lead guitar and who can forget the lead singer, Bono!" He proclaimed. "Bono!" I shouted. "BONO!"

He laughed. I didn't as he continued to drive along the road. "Are we almost there?" I said, trying to put a smile on my face. I wrote a song about God putting a smile upon my face, but it hasn't happened so far. "God did put a smile upon your face, didn't he?" said the driver, smiling. "Excuse me!" I said, amazed. How did he hear my thoughts? Was it a coincidence?. "You know, I was just thinking about that song!" I replied, scratching my head. "Well, of course! How else would I know? There is no such thing as coincidence's aswell! Where did you hear that word?" asked the driver, with a massive grin on his face now.

"So...are you saying that you read my mind?" I asked, putting my hand through my hair. "Yep, can't you read mine?" he replied, laughing very loudly. "Of course I can't and neither can you, noone can!" I exclaimed. "I think your grammer is abit wrong, young man. You can, I can and everyone can! We are humans!" He proudly said, taking a right turn. "STOP THE CAR!" I shouted. The driver stopped, and turned to me. "What is it, son?" he asked. "Can't you read my mind?" I said, smugly. "Yes! You want to know what's going on, don't you? You want to know what has happened since you died, and who God is exactly. You want to become the lead singer of Coldplay again and you want to get back with Gwyneth!" The driver replied, stopping the engine and putting the handbreak on. "Well, yeah! Yeah I do!" I said, in awe. "I think you better get out of the car and follow me!" replied the driver, opening the car door and walking out. "Wait for me" I yelled, as I opened my car door and started running after him.

"Why are we going down here?" I asked, hesitantly. I wanted some coke. I needed some coke. I followed him. "In here!" he said. It was the same door, I walked in. It was exactly as I remembered it. "So, do you need drugs?" the driver asked, as I looked around the room of drugged up men. "Why are you doing this?" I asked, as I turned to the driver.

"You know about my life, don't you! You know that God told me to get back with my wife and not do a single bad thing! You are trying to make me do a bad thing!" I exclaimed, angrily. I wasn't going to let temptation get in the way of a new start in life. I walked outside and closed the door. The driver followed me. "I asked a question!" I said, staring angrily into the drivers arms. "I'm not, did I once tell you to get some drugs? Besides you have no money!" He replied. "Who are you?" I demanded. "I was sent by God to guide you, I am your spirit guide". I stopped and thought for a minute. My whole life flashed before my eyes as I stared up into the sky. Without even looking at the man, I asked him a question. "What is your name?". "My name is Cupid"

What was all this crap about everyone being able to read each other's minds?" I said, leaning on the car bonnet. "Chris, when you died, everything about you dissapeared. Noone knows you, noone remembers you so lots of things never happened and lots of things have happened. For some reason in your life time, you stopped the ability to read people's minds!" he replied, leaning against a wall.

I laughed again, scractching my head. "So, I stopped someone from developing the abilty to read people's minds?" I asked, sarcastically. "Yes, somehow, you did. I don't know how so don't ask me, know one will know but some reason, if you hadn't died, noone would be able to read people's minds!" he replied. "Well answer me this, if you know everything! How come I can't read anyone else's minds?" I asked, smugly, awaiting a stupid reply. "Well, Chris, this is what I hoped I wouldn't have to tell you. Chris, you are dead. You can't change that. Noone can see you, did you see in the drug den? Noone noticed you, that is why noone said anything. Chris, dead is dead"

I couldn't believe what I was hearing that is why I chose not to believe it. "Just! Take me to The Bakery!" I demanded, getting in the passenger seat. I shouted as I turned a corner. "I'm pretty sure it's up here!" I said, worrying. I sped up. "Slow down!" replied Cupid, holding on his seat. "Oh don't be stupid, I'm not going to crash!" I exclaimed and at that moment a car appeared in the road, before I could break we crashed into it. I banged my head on the wheel but I was alright. "Cupid, Cupid, are you alright?" I asked, staring at the man. He wasn't moving. "Oh my god!" I said, my heart beating fast. I got out of the car, and looked at the wreckage of the car in front of me. There was a man in there, holding onto the wheel, I'm pretty sure he was dead. I ran back into the car to check up on Cupid. I checked to find a beat but couldn't find one. I think I killed him. What am I to do now? I have killed my spirit guide and done a bad thing!. But that car came out of nowhere, it did, it wasn't my fault.

I checked in Cupid's pocket for a mobile phone of some sort. I should have immedietely called an ambulance but for some reason I was drawn to his contacts list. I glanced at it. There was one number- God. In shock, I threw the phone onto the seat. Then the phone started ringing. It was God.

I chose that option and waited for only a few minutes before a man walked out. A familiar man. It was Jonny. "Jonny!" I shouted. He turned round. "Who said that?" He shouted. "It is me, Chris Martin!" I replied, smiling at the sight of my best friend. "Who is Chris Martin and where are you?" he shouted. The door of The Bakery was still open, without saying anything more to Jonny and a tear in my eye, I ran in and there he was, the most pompous and arrogant irish man in the world- Bono.

He is, isn't he? When I started the story, he wasn't supposed to be the sensitive one (believe it or not). But it just kind of took off that way.

I have to toughen him up; he's too wimpy.

I ignored it and brought myself to floor and staggered past the alley and onto the main street. I saw stars in my eyes as I staggered onto the road. I couldn't see anything other than the stars and the only thing I could hear was me breathing and the sound of car horns, beeping me, I knocked into one and quickly moved away before falling on top of anothers bonnet. I shook more as I ran across the road on to the pavement and ran into a nightclub. There was a bouncer at the front. "Do you want to go in?" he asked me. I didn't answer, I could barely hear what he was saying, I began to vomit, onto his shoe. "What the fuck are you doing?" he shouted, pushing me away onto the pavement, I saw blue flashing lights coming towards me as I began to close my eyes. Gwyneth ran after me, I quickly got into the lift and down to the bottom floor to the exit. I walked out, into the car park. I reached for my phone out of my pocket and called a taxi. Gwyneth had caught up to me. "Chris! What the hell are you doing?" she screamed, people looking at her. The taxi was here. "Just leave me alone!" I shouted as I got into the taxi. "So where do you want to go?" asked the taxi driver. "Here's £100, take me some place far away!" I said, producing £100 worth of notes. "Yes sir" he replied and began to drive away from the hospital, as I sat back in my seat. My phone began to ring, I looked at it. It was Gwyneth. I wound down the window and threw my phone out, layed across the seats and demanded the taxi driver to wake me up when we are there. There were no trees and no cars. There were not many children around and lots of old people. There were also lots of baby. There was lots of escalators with people going up and down them. As far as I could see there was a gate, a massive one, painted white. "What's your name?" I asked to the taxi driver. "My name is Moses" he said, smiling. "Really? That is my son's name, I better give him a call and Gwyneth!" I said, gritting my teeth. "A call? I bet you that you can't find a phone box!" Moses said, laughing. "Alright, alright! You took drugs behind your family's backs and ran away from your loving wife!" he said. "I know, I know, I got it all wrong!" I replied, starting to cry. "I've got an option for you" said God. He continued, "I can send you back to your old life on the condition that you look after your family. They will not be able to recognise you and you have got them to love you again, that is your task, You need to marry Gwyneth again and when you do that, you stay. If you do one bad thing, you will come straight back here!" he said, smiling. "I'm not sure!" I replied, looking at the floor. "Chris, you can either make amends and see your family again or never, ever see them again" he said, putting his hand on my shoulder. "Okay, okay. I'll do it!" I said, smiling. "Good, good, when I clap your hands, you will be back where you died, everything will be like what it was before except no one will know who you are, your children will also still be alive but they don't know who their father is and neither does Gwyneth. "They are my favourite band" he continued. "Thank you!" I said, smiling. "Why did you say thank you?" he said, looking puzzled. "I'm Chris Martin, the lead singer!" I said, looking proud. He laughed. "Haha! Who the hell is the Chris Martin?" he said, continuing to laugh. "Are you joking with me here?" I asked, my head in my hands. "How many members are there?" I continued, shaking my head. "Four, everyone knows that! There is Will on drums, Guy on Bass, Jonny on lead guitar and who can forget the lead singer, Bono!" He proclaimed. "Bono!" I shouted. "BONO!" You can, I can and everyone can! We are humans!" He proudly said, taking a right turn. "STOP THE CAR!" I shouted. The driver stopped, and turned to me. "What is it, son?" he asked. "Can't you read my mind?" I said, smugly. "Yes! You want to know what's going on, don't you? You want to know what has happened since you died, and who God is exactly. You want to become the lead singer of Coldplay again and you want to get back with Gwyneth!" The driver replied, stopping the engine and putting the handbreak on. "Well, yeah! Yeah I do!" I said, in awe. "I think you better get out of the car and follow me!" replied the driver, opening the car door and walking out. What am I to do now? I have killed my spirit guide and done a bad thing!. But that car came out of nowhere, it did, it wasn't my fault. I checked in Cupid's pocket for a mobile phone of some sort. I should have immedietely called an ambulance but for some reason I was drawn to his contacts list. I glanced at it. There was one number- God. In shock, I threw the phone onto the seat. "It is me, Chris Martin!" I replied, smiling at the sight of my best friend. "Who is Chris Martin and where are you?" he shouted. The door of The Bakery was still open, without saying anything more to Jonny and a tear in my eye, I ran in and there he was, the most pompous and arrogant irish man in the world- Bono. Come Back And Look For Me [CHAPTER TWELVE] Spoiler There he was, one of my idols, the great Bono sat on the sofa talking to some of my best friends, Guy was there, Will was there and so was Phil. "So, Bono, is the new song ready yet?" asked Phil, waiting anxiously for Bono's reply. I was still in awe of what I was seeing. In his broad irish accent, Bono replied "Yep, almost, just have to make some finishing touches!". He was grinning, everyone else was smiling, sucking up to him. It made me sick. "You bastard!" I said. "Who said that?" Bono proclaimed, standing up and looking around the room. I ran in and pushed him over. Will was behind him. "Will! Why the fuck did you push me over?" shouted Bono. That was a mistake, a genuine mistake. I ran into another room and looked around, the room was full of posters. Posters featuring Will Champion, Guy Berrymen, Jonny Buckland and Bono! I tried to look away but they were everywhere, I just walked back out. "Why the fuck won't you admit it, Will?" Bono screamed, knocking over a lamp. "If you don't admit it" he continued, "I will sack you!". "You can't sack me! Without me the band will fail!" Will demanded. "I will!" screamed Bono, staring angrily into Will's eyes. "You can't sack me if I quit!" Will replied and stormed out The Bakery. What had I done? I ran after him. "Will! Will!" I said. Will turned round. "Who said that?" he asked. "Will, I know this is probabbly hard to believe but I am dead and have come back! Before I died, you were my bandmate and I was the lead singer of Coldplay! You have to believe me! I know this seems wierd and I know I am a kind of Ghost but I can see you perfectly!" I said, smiling. Will just stared at the ground and didn't say a word, shook his head and walked off. As he turned round the corner I heard him talk to someone. At that moment, a tall, blonde women appeared. Guy was sullen; absolutely silent. He just sat there with his arms crossed on the table, resting his head. Chris seemed to be overcompensating for Guy’s silence...he talked nonstop. I tried to listen to him, but half of what he was saying sailed over my head. Will was the only one who seemed normal. He was talking to Guy and Chris just the same as he always did, whether the response from them was nonexistent or overwhelming. I stayed quiet, chewing slowly on my food and trying to figure out what was going on. “Are you okay?” I asked Guy, hoping I wasn’t interrupting Chris. For a moment, there was silence. Guy looked up, frowning, and Chris turned to stare at me. Will had just taken a large bite of food, so he couldn’t speak anyway. “Yes.” Guy said darkly. I knew I wasn’t going to get another syllable out of him, so I turned to Chris instead. “What about you? You seem nervous.” “What? I’m fine, Jonny. Really.” muttered Chris, drumming his fingers on the tabletop. “They’re pissed at each other.” said Will, swallowing his food. “Why?” “It’s none of your business.” “Chris was annoying Berryman here, and Guy got pissed.” “Will!” “Really?” “Oh yeah. It was horrible, mate.” “Will!” If looks could kill, Will would have been a smoldering pile of ash. Chris was sinking down in his chair, his face flushed. I looked at him apologetically, but he didn’t notice. He was watching Guy, who’d grabbed his things and walked away from the table. “Well, I guess he’s pissed at you two.” I muttered, pushing myself up. I hoped I was doing the right thing by following him. “I’ll be right back.” Guy was halfway up the stairs when I caught up with him. “Sorry,” I said. Some of the tension in his shoulders eased and he turned around to face me. “Shit, Jon. Don’t be.” “I just want to know what’s up with you.” “Nothing’s up with me.” “What did Chris do, anyway? I’ll beat him up for you.” I smiled, and Guy chuckled. “Thanks for the offer, but it was my fault.” he said, looking down at his feet. “I’m sure you didn’t do anything wrong; Chris is just sensitive.” “Is he?” “Come on, just come back and talk to him. I’m sure he’s forgiven you already.” Apparently, that was asking for too much. He shook his head. “Sorry, Jonny. No.” said Guy, looking at me defiantly. I guessed he was too proud to apologize. “Okay,” I said, shrugging. “You’ll be back at the table tomorrow, right?” I asked hopefully. To my relief, he nodded. “I’ve got nowhere else to go, mate.” With that, he waved briefly and continued up the stairs. With a sigh, I turned around and made my way back to the cafeteria. Chris was looking anxiously at me, and Will was also peering in my direction. I sat down in silence, and Chris leaned forward, his eyes big. “Oh, relax.” I muttered. “What did he say?” “He said he'll be back with us tomorrow.” My words seemed to bring some comfort to my best friend, because he leaned back again, looking a little less worried.
