Exclamation Coldplay star's 'classical plans' *needs to be locked*

Coldplay star Chris Martin has said he is considering becoming a classical music student when he is "too old" to be in a band.

"When I'm 40, too old to be a rock star, I plan to go back to college to study classical music," the 29-year-old told the New York Post.

He spoke at a New York Philharmonic concert featuring music from the films of Steven Spielberg.

The director is the godfather of Martin's wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

The couple attended the event three weeks after the birth of their baby Moses, a brother to 23-month-old daughter Apple.

Martin offered no further explanation as to his classical aspirations.

Last week Coldplay received three nominations at the Ivor Novello songwriting awards, which honour British songwriters, composers and music publishers.

The group's song Speed of Sound was shortlisted for international hit of the year and most performed work, while Fix You - also taken from their current album X&Y - was listed in the best song category.
