Yeeees *clapclap* everything s right! great!
the next Ill tell you are the indefinite articles, those are easy:

for male and neutral nouns, you use the article 'ein' (uno; a/an)
for female nouns you use 'eine' (una; a/an)
for plural we don't have any words, you just say the word without an article or the numeral in front of it.
next time Ill explain to you how to form the plural.

unfortunately you have to learn the genres of all words. they have no specific characteristics.
in the sentences you wrote the article of the word that you describe doesnt change, like:
Der Bleistift ist neben dem Heft.
Der Taschnerechner ist zwischen dem Stift und dem Bleistift.

the genres of the words you used are:
    Bleistift: m
    Heft: n
Gummi: n ( if you thought of an eraser it is called Radiergummi, otherwise germans would understand it as a condom )
    Schultasche: f
    Taschenrechner: m
    Stift: m
    Hund: m
    Tisch: m
    Lampe: f
    Gitarre: f
    Katze: f
    Tür: f

because you used very many male words your sentences are very good! well done!
now you can correct your sentences!
    I'm impressed!

i could teach you some prepositions:
    over/above: über
    under: unter
    next to: neben
    in front of: vor
    behind: hinter
    between: zwischen
    in: in

with these sentences you can describe easily where something is.
for that you need the dative of the noun.
luckily the word doesn't change its ending. only the article changes.
if the article is: die (female) it changes to der
if the article is: der (male) it changes to dem
and if its: das (neutral) it changes to dem, too.

ill describe now where the bird (vogel) is Haus is neutral, so the articles changes to dem. / Baum is male.)

Der Vogel ist über dem Haus (house).
Der Vogel ist unter dem Baum (tree).

(Eiche is female, so the article changes to der.)

Der Vogel ist neben der Eiche (oak).
