Dude, I know you've heard the great news, you'll probably be going to Pearl Jam when they tour Australia soon! I don't listen to enough of their music, tbh....

A massive week back for me in terms of music. Of course, we had Splendour up in QLD which I missed because I was away, so I got to enjoy some tasty sideshows this week! Tuesday night was the Doves, which was an average gig. They didnt play a couple of songs which they could have, and the set seemed quite short for a band that has had 4 albums behind them. I think it was 16 songs long... Wed night was much better, a sold out crowd saw Friendly Fires in St Kilda, I got front row, and it was crazy. Short setlist but every song went off. That was one of the most fun gigs I have been to. Thursday night I backed it up again with White Lies, got front row for that again, and they did a superb job. The songs sound a lot better live than they do on the album, less polished. I have eskimo joe next week, and then nothing for a long time. Still waiting for Oasis to announce a tour here, it's taking them forever!!

Not much on the physical CD front, Arctic Monkeys, Jet and Athlete albums all out mid-late August. I might go and get Yves Klein Blue's album, they supported White Lies and sounded decent enough. Uni started, second week starts tomorrow. Meh. You back this week?

Well, Pretty Visitors is classic Arctic Monkeys.

I really like my propeller, especially as an album opener. Its still growing on me, but its a fantastic, grungy tune.
Crying lightning is incredible. Full stop. I love it. Already can sing all the words from memory. It's got loads of great hooks.
Secret door, I actually don't mind. It's very shadow puppets, which is probably why I like it.
Cornerstone, is VERY David Bowie. Average.
Dance Little Liar and Pretty Visitors, upon 2 listens, sound like old-arctic-monkeys. They'll keep the fans happy.

I still can't pick singles from this album. Possibly Secret Door? It's a 'plesant' progression from LP1 and LP2. What do you think?

sorry for the quick message. I will reply to your big one soon.

Alright. I have just read this news on the demos, so freaking amazing. But I am on holiday, miles from home, so something like this just had to happen, didn't it. Can you please PM me the good quality download link/links for all the demos for me so its easier when I get home later in the week? and if u have time, VM me what the hell's been going on!!!

Cursed? Odd. I know this site plays up a bit, but I didnt know about curses, lol.

Perfect. You're a MU fan too. A real one, you got to enjoy the treble! I was actually 'brought into' the Man United fanclub.. you see half my family lives in England, and I have cousins in Manchester. So every Christmas and birthday of my childhood I was sent Man U merch, and thats what made me a fan.

Yeah loving the success at the moment, not too fussed with Ronaldo going, he had a massive ego which isnt really welcome at the club, (chelsea on the other hand...) and if Tevez goes for a nice sum then we should be able to make a few decent purchases for next season. I dont really follow the Italian games, we have foxtel so I make an effort to see the EPL games live and the EPL highlights show each week.

As for the cricket, I think it will be 2-2. I think England have anough talent this time, I dunno about the self belief. Australia will lose the ashes if Brett Lee plays. I think he's a liability at the moment. But it should be a good series.

Had my last exam on Thursday. Had some good celebrations last night, so I might be going to sleep a bit earlier tonight... Good too be free, I did not like that semester. The micro exam was hard but it wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.

Yeah, the whole itunes thing is interesting, I like building up a physical collection, I listen to CDs all the time at home, but I also like collecting B-Sides in my itunes library. And I know you have pretty broad musical horizons, so I guess you would be the same. Nowadays most new bands are discovered online, because its just so easy and convenient. Although, I am a purist.. would love bands to go back to their old ways and release physical singles with 3-4 tracks (that arent remixes)... I think itunes has destroyed the physical single. I still collect all the Oasis ones, I buy them from the UK because I am a dedicated fan, I guess.

Oh and another thing about the ashes.. I am disappointed, I will miss the first two tests because I go overseas to Malaysia and Vietnam in 2 days for all July. I highly doubt that Asian television covers the Ashes. May have to rely on internet cafe's.

    Anyway, enough of my rambling.

Oh, a sanity voucher would Not last that long in my wallet. Yeah 22 is expensive, but it is sanity. I get everything from JB, I am in love with that store. I finally bought the CD of Vampire Weekend cos it was on special at 12.99 this week. I had the itunes version previously, but I am completely anti-itunes music store now. I buy my albums, and get singles and EPs online. I think its fair, right?

Anyway, the new metric was 22 in JB, thought that was a bit steep. But after listening to it, I it was worth the money.

Temper trap: over hyped. Not brilliant as it could have been, I agree with you, sweet disposition is the strongest track. And the subtle change in Science of Fear is noticeable. Id prob give it a 7 or 7.5/10 too.

Havent got into Bon Iver, I must admit. You listen to modest mouse? I hear them mentioned by ppl who have similar taste in music, wondered if they had any decent material?

Love my sport. Cricket, Premier League Football mostly.

Sorry for the late reply. Swamped with study at the moment, got two in three days this week, including finishing with micro on thursday. And its going to be bloody hard. Have shelved the radiohead for a while - my study music consists of the calming tunes of travis and also jack johnson. Hope you're enjoying your break already.

I can understand why people like it. I like velvet, but the other one isn't as good. And a september release for their debut album. This august/september is pretty massive for uk albums!

Of course, everyone has different tastes! I kinda think parachutes isnt brilliant, Viva was such a great idea in terms of the whole 'image' of the album, and theme. It hadn't been done before. And I dont dislike any of the songs, so thats what I based my judgement on.

Hope the rest of the study is going well.
