Same here; it's quite a surprise, working backwards through their discography. The style is more . . . smooth and mellow? (I'm really bad with descriptions. ) It's a really nice album, though.

It is very different... It's less upbeat I guess. But I still have to appreciate it, overall it is a good album. I heard Alphabetical first and so it was a bit surprise when WAP and NBLT came out and were more towards sunshine and rainbows.

You're definitely right with "upbeat" and "melancholic".
The first twenty seconds of Napoleon Says got my attention the first time I heard it. Great opening track.

I also listened to the first two tracks off of Alphabetical and thought, "Whoa, this style is a little different. "

Yeah. Phoenix are like that... Sometimes they make me feel really upbeat and other times they make me melancholic. But they have the energy and enthusiasm live that just oozes that all away. Ahhhh Napoleon Says is one of my fav tracks on there too!

Hiya! Finally got around to listening to It's Never Been Like That. I think I'll need to give it a few more listens, but I like it! The melodies put me in quite a cheerful mood (even if some of the lyrics are kinda sad . . . ). So far, my favorites are Second to None, Napoleon Says, and Consolation Prizes.

Ha. Your schoolmate sounds like me. I have the same problem. I started to go when I lived at home, but now I don't I shouldn't have the money to... But I still manage it

S'cool to be there. It's like electric. Each one is unforgettable.

    Yep, I'll be sure to.

That reminds me of my schoolmate who said "I should really stop going to so many concerts since I'm going broke, but I just can't stop." I have to content myself with YouTube videos, but it looks so amazing and fun to actually be there.
