I skipped school today so I can study for tomorrow's physics exam.
Now my classmates told me that the exam is postponed for Tuesday.
My math teacher forgot that she still needs to have 3 marks and now we have to do 1 test + 2 interrogations in only 2 weeks time + we have tons of other tests of the other subjects

Kinda. If it's algebra you have to demostrate formulas and do some exercise at the blackboard. If it's geometry, you have to demostrate theorems instead

We have this big project at school. We're in groups of 6 students, and the project is for an organization or a company. It is also chaperoned by a teacher. In my case, the project is for a company (that makes cool gloves  check out their website http://fsthandwear.com ) and our tutor is the head of my department, so kinda the big boss. For some groups, their project only last til one event months ago, but mine lasts all school year, because it's not related to an event (it's more of a market study, and we had to pass questionnaires to students and meet students organizations and stuff). Anyway, since the project is done alongside school, and that we have lots of presentations/projects to do all year for our classes, and that we're not in the smae class, it was pretty complicated to finish it. Actually it's not finished. And right now we're in the middle of our internship, and we're supposed to finish everything alongside our internship, because it ends on June 1st and the presentation (and the report we have to give) is due to June 4th. The whole situation could have been better if our analyse of the 340 questionnaires was over already (which should have been). But it's not. Why ? You see, when you analyse results to studies of that kind, you can use a software that does it for you. You just have to put in the questionnaire and all the answers. The thing is, when we mentioned it to our teacher, he answered: "no, it will only take you an afternoon to analyze the results". Which we interpreted by: "no, you don't need to enter the results and use the software, you can analyse it yourself". So it took an afternoon to collect all the answers and make one "standard" questionnaire, that would have been our base for the analyse. We discovered a few weeks ago that our interpretation was wrong. Our tutor looked at us like we were dumb, like we didn't show up in class at all this year and that it was some kind of joke, and told us that he said we should use that software, and that we should have asked him properly anyway. So we have to do that thing again. Except that, as I said, we're doing an internship. And, amazingly, I'm the one who seems the most available to work for this project, despite the fact that we're all supposed to work the same amount of time. So I have to do plenty of shit by myself, and we won't have a good grade (the tutor judges us not only on the result, but also how we got there) on a project that's very important to me and I'm just sick of it.

So, today my teacher went to show us some poem in fornt of the class and when he turned on the screen he had pandora open and was listening to "In Rainbows". This is the same teacher who let us listen to Pink Floyd's "Time" in class. Totally awesome!
I also did a ~12 page research paper on "The Effects of Underground Rock Music on British Culture" for said class.

Am I the only one who feels that some teachers are purposefully trying to make their class hard when it's not necessary?? My chemistry teacher is insane. She gives us mounds of work that she doesn't even grade sometimes and she never teaches us but instead tells us to "read the book, it's a pre AP class" I even noticed that she purposefully tries to fail kids who she thinks don't deserve to be in her class. When you ask her a question, she gives you this smart ass response that just makes you feel so stupid. Then when you don't understand a topic she's like "really what's not to understand. This is pretty easy stuff" BITCH YOU WENT TO COLLEGE AND GOT YOUR DOCTORATE IN CHEMISTRY OF COURSE IT'S EASY TO YOU. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME TAKING CHEMISTRY. Gosh teachers like her are the reasons why teachers get paid little. She's not worth my parents tax money

Most my teachers are pretty chill. My chem teacher is awesome and makes it fun.. My history teacher is awesome too. I was talking to him after I went to radiohead and was wearing a fancy concert tee about how they are better now than they were Ok Computer time. He thinks theyre weird now, but that's okay cause he's okay.
But, my psych teacher is so terrible and condescending and says the weirdest shit in class. Oh and he gets me confused with my friend cause we both have long brown hair and that's as much as he actually looks at us and respects us. He's actually such an ass. I'm amazed he's married with kids. But I'm thinking he dumps all Tue weirdness on us so he can be normal with his family.
Omg I just typed thay whole thing on my phone, you all should be proud of me.

I agree with both of you. I'm on college now. This shit happens here as well.
I fucking hate it when a student asks a question or makes a mistake while trying to answer a question the teacher made and the teacher treats him/her as if s/he were stupid. Acting as if the issue was obvious and/or regarding your students as morons won't help them understand the subject the least bit.
I also hate it when the teacher goes 'Well, I won't dwell long on that part because you read the textbook and...'. Well, each student learns on his own way. Some like to read a text before the classe, some afterwards. The fact that some read it only afterwards doesn't mean they're lazy. Besides, if reading something was a guarantee that the students would understand it, what's the point of going to class? I know it's important to read at least what the teachers assign, but they shouldn't take it for granted that everybody is the same and that doubts or misunderstanding won't happen, even they read the textbooks. It's not because they read it halfheartedly (though it does happen). If you're acquainting some subject for the first time, for example, you're prone to miss some details and not pay enough attention to significant parts. It's only a human feature.
What I hate most is teachers whose ego is so inflated that they can't stand when I student confronts some claim the teacher made: classes shouldn't have anything to do with individuals; it should be all about the subject itself, irregardless of the person standing in the front of the class.**
I have absolute respect for decent teachers, but they should realise that students learning the subject they are teaching is more important than their egos.
I also can't stand when teachers make up an answer when they don't how to answer a question. Being bold enough to admit that you don't something and trying to find an appropriate answer should be a pre-requisite of being a teacher.
Just a reason why im starting to just not give a crap anymore.
I think you should put yourself in the first place. If you don't agree with some of your teachers behaviour, then study for yourself, not for them. What you learn at school will probably be relevant throughout your whole life.
edit: **I just realised what I said can be interpreted as 'students and teachers aren't people'. Far from that; I only meant that people shouldn't think they're untouchable or way smater than everybody else.

On the other side of the extreme, there are dumb "Jewish Studies 23" or "Art History 163" teachers who think their subject is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WILL EVER LEARN and make the course full of reading 3 textbooks and material online, tests every week, cramming every detail that could be possibly read into the final, etc.
No I'm not making this up, well not entirely.
It's even dumber at a community college, because almost everyone there has a kid or a job or two jobs and they don't have time to focus on some insane teacher who thinks "The evolution of clay scuplting in the 19th century" will change their lives when everyone is just taking it for the general education requirements.

I won't say anything about these specif subjects because I wouldn't choose them myself (and they wouldn't be obligatory on my course), but I'd rather my teachers were enthusiastic about their own subjects than assign something way too basic, something that only gives you the idea that this or that exists and end of story.
Having said that, I agree with you when you imply that sometimes teachers exaggerate the ammount of reading and of tests.
I can't stand teachers that think all their students are geniuses and can do anything by theirself too. Like I remember when we had to draw the Pantheon in assonometry for our technical drawing hour our teacher told us that he didn't have enough time to explain everything because he had to interrogate some persons and we were good enough to do it by ourselves. Seriously, we have to draw such a complex thing (he also told us that to get a satisfactory mark (6) we had to draw at least the main shape, which isn't already that easy) without a f*cking complete explanation?

I'm writing a ~formal complaint~ to my principal about my music teacher. She's an awful teacher and she's head of music :( we had a student teacher this week who completely showed her up...he was helping us all out individually, explaining everything, showing us techniques to help us remember things etc but she always just stays at the front of class, writing things on the board and telling us to hurry up...
^Wish you luck. It's better to try to change it and don't waste time with "teacher", who does nothing good. Now I regret that my class didn't do anything with our teacher. We had 7 hours per week, but everybody had to have extra lessons to pass exam. Sad.

Okay, better explanation:
My school posted the supplies list on the district website. I checked it and it said "English/Spanish and English/Italian pocket dictionaries." The problem is, this year we have the choice of Spanish, Mandarin and French. I'm taking Mandarin. The Italian teacher was chased out, per se, by last year's eighth grade class, leaving no Italian class and Mandarin taking its place. So what is the need of these pocket dictionaries??

I know. You should've seen us seventh graders last year. We drove out the French teacher (I actually yelled at him once for touching the back of my chair, the very low back, on several occasions because he thought I wasn't listening) and one semester drove the Mandarin teacher crazy.
And all the teachers called us "the worst seventh grade class ever."

Why is that?
Because my school, being the unimaginative people they are, are trying to copy a blue ribbon school two towns across from here.

Talk to people in your classes, join a club etc.

Wow, I want to go to your school... Welp, just find people with some of the same interests as you. Or the something in common. The way I found my best friend was because her mom and my uncle both work for Delta Airlines.

^It´s pretty cool because i dont have to wake up so early but i still have to wake up pretty early for homework and things you´d normally do after school.
funny how you met you´re best friend, i do end up making good friends (atleast i did in middle school) but i had to hang out with justin bieber fans for a couple of months until people saw how COOL I AM and i dont want to go through that i just want to find my bff now

^ I see. I have the same situation but the majority of my friends listen to Japanese pop and the minority listens to One Direction. But my best friend tolerates my obsessiveness. So I guess if you find someone who likes you for who you are, then BADOOM, best friend.

Similar situation here, having an awful time making new friends
Every time I ask for advice... "find people you have things in common with" "find people you have things in common with"
Unfortunately people don't have massive flippin neon red signs on their forehead that say 'I LIKE THIS BAND' etc.
It's amazing how in a school of 3000+ kids, how few people will have the decency to turn around and pretend you're there when you say "hi, I'm new here and I wanna make some friends"
And it sucks because I have such a tough time making new friends so it insults me personally a bit
I've been meaning to join some other clubs / learn some sports but I'm exhausted enough as it is aghhhh
Also I don't know how to play any sports because I'm a lazy ****
This isn't really giving you a solution but just me complaining as well hahah :anxious:

^I´m sorry you can´t find cool friends like me, I already found a bunch of friends who listen to neutral milk hotel
No, but you´re right. It would be great to find friends that you actually have things in common with, but most of my friends don´t really have anything in common with me other than humor, what we find stupid etc. But they´re still my best friends. So I would imagine that I will find good friends or more bffs throught that and not musical interests.
I made some friends around the first days but they were so dumb and I couldn´t even be myself and now I hang out with these other people and sometimes they make me laugh.. so thats good
Still though I´m getting tired of pretending to like Chris Brown´s new song or whatever.

So I'm British and therefore have no idea what any of you are talking about when you write about eighth graders etc,but I do know that I'm in my last year of high school and it's driving me absolutely mad. It doesn't help that I'm quite lazy with my schoolwork (although thankfully I still manage good grades) but the thing that is annoying me most at the moment is the other people! There are so many tiny immature 11-15 year olds in our school, and it doesn't help that quite a few people in my year are also immature. They are so cliquey and awful. I can't wait to get away and go to university because I think there might actually be people I can have an intelligent / interesting conversation with there. Also, really hoping I can find a group of Coldplayers :P

Think of it this way: your "years" are one number higher than our "grades." :)
