Yeah, it has grown on me. Actually I can't get the melody out of my head, and the Para para part is literally jammed in my brain and I can't get rid of it. Say what you will about the song, but it is catchy as hell. Probably why it is the single.

When I heard the 30 seconds preview I loved it, then when I heard the song I was a bit disappointed, but now i'm starting to like it a lot! I would change some things though, I would have liked it to be more stripped down, but this is what we have, and I like it.

We all learn from our mistakes. And I think we are all guilty of rushing to judgement often enough and seeing only the negative. (and in all areas of life, not only music!). I am glad you like it: itīs much more fun to like it than despise it. That we can all agree on!

I know but I'm not gonna force myself to like a song by listening to it over and over to find a small part of it I can tolerate. I find it painful to listen to, it upsets me, so it's best I just pretend it doesn't exist for now. I'll deal with it live when I next see them :)

I meant you could sing over them or something like that :) But yeah hard to like this song if you prefer a more stripped-down style, I can see why it would sound confusing.

The chords aren't bad, but I hate the way the music was arranged. That electronic sound sounds forced to me, sounds like want more airplay. And the para-para thing is ridiculous, I can't believe they couldn't find lyrics for the chorus.

^This. I didn't hate the song when I first listened it, but I was displeased. It doesn't have the same emotional impact Coldplay songs have on me, even ETIAW did. It sounded way to tech-y too (sorry for the poor description). But tonight, I blasted it in my car driving home from rehearsal and it sounded great. I love the bass, and the chorus is pretty catchy. I'm still singing "It could be paradise" in my head. However, I don't think it has the same emotional spark that most Coldplay songs are like, and another thing I noticed, I don't think it suits Chris Martin's voice very well. I love his voice and all but I think he's capable of a more dynamic range, and there should be some sort of cool music riff playing in the background when he sings the verses.
Overall, not Coldplay at it's best. But it's very catchy and will most likely to be pleasing to a radio audience. However, I think Charlie Brown will overthrow that. ;)

firstly, i never hated it and i don't think many people hated it, they just disliked it.
I disliked it from the start and after a day and a half of trying to like it, i still can't. it just has no......passion or there's something missing. the only part i like is when chris sings "in the night, the stormy night".........those few seconds are good but i don't like the rest of the song

- Change the lyrics para-para-para oooooh on your mind...
- Hear it with an open mind...
The thread should be entitled "Methods to help you listen to paradise"!
or on youtube:
- Try to ignore the 'pop' part and then enjoy the real music!
- Show you're a real fan of Coldplay and LOVE ALL THEIR MATERIAL
Hm, I am still waiting and still listening to the song hoping that it will hit me and I will love it. Hasn't happened yet, but it's Coldplay so I want to try. And it is for sure hell of a catchy song.

Then I think it would be fair to say you like/love the song but dislike the arrangement and production. I hear this point of view often, even though I can not relate to it. I can not think of a song I dislike because of other reasons than a melody I donīt like...I guess it all comes down to what you focus on in a song

I like the melody which is different from liking the song, the song is a sum of melody, lyrics, instruments used, production and so on. Therefore I can say that the song, which is the result of this sum, is not of my liking.

Yes, there are quite a few songs I never really listen to and some songs even on the setlist that I never grew to like. At first listen wasn't sure - but then again listened it through a crappy computer speaker at work - but when I used a nice pair of headphones (P5 Bowers and Wilkins for the 'philes) - Wow! There is so much going on and it's glorious - the synth strings, and that blazing fuzz bass is incredible - and at first wasn't too sure about the lyrical melody or his choice of words, but it is catchy as hell - can't get it out of my head. Also, like the dubstep influence where the strings kind of stopped very briefly and keeps growing, gets mellow and then boom! Beautiful - it's amped up Coldplay ethereal gloriousness. Love the first interlude after the verse - this is going to epic live. People are hating now, but watch it will be a favorite for sure. Impressed.

First time I heard it, I was a bit disappointed. But that happens with every single Coldplay song I listen to. I'm not kidding. I didn't like Yellow the first time I heard it, or Yes, or The Scientist...but I love all of them now. It's because I never like their songs the first time I hear them.
Paradise was a 6 for me the first time, but after many more listens it's moved up to a 7-7.5. It's a beautiful song (not Scientist beautiful or anything :P) but still good. The catchiness bothers me a little bit. I cannot get it out of my head.

I don't see what's hilarious about it :P, I think it makes sense. Why would you listen to a song over and over again if you don't like it? Its good to give things a break, not just music, so you can perhaps have a different and fresh perspective on things
Wether its coldplay song or not, its good to listen to music with an open mind!, otherwise you could end up just keeping yourself in a box and not experiment different music. I think its a good excercise to do and it helps you discover new music :)
Anyways guys, if you don't like paradise then don't like it, or don't feel forced to lol. Maybe it will happen naturally...maybe not. You can just skip it anyway, plus there's still the rest of the album to discover! :D

It Is a great song an some songs are growers
yes it grows i think the people who hates this song they aren real coldplay fans they dont like that coldplay are changing and the radiohead camparisons are dessapiring the album til today its great we have a lot of styles in this album the first two songs doesnt fit with the taste that they have. Coldplay is getting bigger each day and in their own terms i like so much that the albums are turning to a way when in the future the radohead comparisions will be just history. i dont like radiohead per example and im glad that they are changing.

This song has definitely grown on me since the first listen.=! I was completely and utterly disappointed the first time I heard the song (when it was played on the radio for the first time). I really wanted to be able to like it so I played it again and again. I'd probably say it was around my 10th listen that I though 'Yes, this is a great song!'. However for me, it doesn't even make my top 20 Coldplay songs, but that doesn't mean that I still don't really really love the song! (Does that make sense?)
