I went once...it is the coolest thing....we only stayed for the day cause there were so mnay people and nowhere to stay...but they had the best costumes and there were so many people there for carnaval

mardi gras is fun! i went last weekend in the states.........i went to mobile though where mardi gras actually started...not new orleans

What a lot of people don't realize is that Mardi Gras (pronounced Mar-dee Graw) is a church holiday. Fat Tuesday is in preparation for the fasting of Lent. So... ya... that was pointless. :D

It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive. I used to live right outside of NO though... fun times.

Yeah, it gets crazy... but that's why I love it!

It wasn't pointless...I knew that...so what are you giving up for lent...I am still debating...I have given up meat and chicken products for the last couple of times...debating if I should do the same thing or add to that

I'm not sure exactly when people start celebrating, but they start early, and it lasts until Fat Tuesday of course!
