Greetings fellow fans and aficionados!!!
I have been struggling with some questions as of late. If the info I have gleaned from the "official" Coldplay website states that the band will never compromise themselves by lending their music to advertisements, then please explain why we hear "Clocks" as the theme of the recent HBO
campaign? Why has their music appeared in the background of various
TV shows?
I am studying to be a paralegal (legal assistant) and have a great interest in intellectual property law, so the use of music, thought and ideas in a commercial arena intrigues me. Please enlighten me, if you can, how these snipets of songs end up on the airwaves without the so-called blessing and personal enrichment of one of my favorite bands.

P.S. I saw them on 1/31/03 and can say that I preferred their show last year at the Bronco Bowl.

I think maybe they mean the title track to films, programmes, things like that. It puzzles me too because the BBC have been using Clocks to promote their digital services, but I can't actually think of a program that has Coldplay as its main theme tune.

yes i to am confused by this, but wat is confusing the most is how coldplay are going on every show and programme. i think they are the best band in the world (after oasis)!!! but it is starting to annoy me how they are everywhere. is there not surly a point wen people wil get sik of them or are they so great that they wil never be fogotten!!!!

My other question is how the hel do coldplay relese a better album than arobtth. will they go down oasis root of releasing a poor third album and never quite recovering

I also heard Clocks on a recent episode of ER... but I can't complain... it fit really beautifully.

yep... Dr. Romano was standing at the top of the roof contemplating suicide (because he lost his arm in an accident and can't work anymore), but he decides against it and just stares off the roof in sadness. Clocks is playing as he looks out over the edge.
