Two of the greatest voices/lead singers, EVER.

And, hell, both from the same band, just different times.

It's quite simple. I hate Radiohead, and love AC/DC.

their different genres

ACDC all sounds the same
annoying 80's ear bleeding guitar riffs kind of get old at 0 songs

CityandColour

yeah, they are different genres. Yes, ac/dc's songs sound alike, but different too. I can tell a difference, and they surely aren't that 80's horse crap like Metallica.

Radiohead is just boring.

Yes, ac/dc's songs sound alike, but different too

different bridge maybe?
different lyrics in the chorus?

and they surely aren't that 80's horse crap like Metallica.

im not sure i agree with all of that
i do think metallica is horse crap
except for ride the lightning ( about 4 songs off of it )

I agree, the guitar sounds like some other songs..but, oddly enough, it sounds but different and alike.

the only metallica songs ill admit to liking are
in order:
1 - call of the ktulu
2 - fade to black

The only Metallica songs I'll admit to liking...oh, wait, whoops. None.

well i have had enough ACDC for awhile
oh quick story:

my cousin plays guitar and usually brings it over for thanksgiving.
so he brought it over and i play bass so we played together.
except neither of us new each other's songs to play.
he said "do you know any van halen?"
haha
i didnt realize van halen had guitars
i thought it was an orchestra of synthesizers and guitars with distortion
bah

i don't like van halen, but eddie van halen seems to be really respected by other guitarists as a really great lead. i always tended to believe their accounts, and when i listen to van halens big songs i do hear some classic riffs.

im just not a fan of 80's guitar what can i say
they totally abuse the distortion pedal

I tend to agree. I don't like the 80s rock stuff. I tend to lean more towards the 80s music that, at the time, was referred to as "Modern Rock."

mycdplayerisbroke

yeah it was pretty computerized
i wasnt around but thats besides the point
werent there alot of european influences on american music at the time?

There was this divergence in rock music. American rock was really at a low point. There was Van Halen and a bunch of medicore bands (Bob Seger-type stuff). The good stuff was starting to trickle over here from Europe and slowly made it's way onto MTV and the radio. But for the most part, the European music had a pretty distinct style for most of the eighties.

The American rock scene that can to the forefront in the early 90s was domant, giving rise to college radio as bands like REM couldn't find other popular outlets for their sound.

Aside from those bands on college radio, there really wasn't anything American that was incorporating what was going on in Britian and the rest of Europe. It would be the 90s before the music of bands like U2 really started to influence musicians here.

At least, that's my view.

I still don't get what that has to do with anything.

Even though still around, and around in the 80's, AC/DC is still pretty much considered a 70's band as I recall, considering that's when they actually started getting more well known and making records.

The real original band though started forming as I recall in 69.
