Mylo Xyloto: Coldplay: Amazon.de: Musik

It says it will be available from October, 21st... it's a Friday, usually all the records are to be available during weekends in order to be properly charted...

Weird

Why coldplay indicated release the 24 ?

That's...weird . Either the retailers have it wrong or Coldplay has it wrong. Big artists can usually get away with releasing records on "untraditional" days of the week, and Coldplay definitely fits in that criteria, but I don't know why they'd tell us that most of the world will get it on the traditional Monday if retailers are listing it as the Friday before. I feel like the 21st would be the ship date of the record when ordered from places like Amazon and HMV, but why they'd list it like that if that was the case...I have no idea.

Random bump: I just looked up the old Viva release dates for another reason, and it turns out that Viva was released in the UK on a Thursday back in 2008:

JAPAN: Wednesday, June 11, 2008
UK: Thursday, June 12, 2008
EUROPE: Friday, June 13, 2008
AUS/NZ: Saturday, June 14, 2008
USA: Tuesday, June 17, 2008

So even Coldplay's done that before--I guess the weirdest part isn't the day of the week, it's that the official site's release date doesn't match what online retailers are saying

Why does Capitol have to suck so bad for America! I wish the album just come out on one day, October 24th like the rest of the world. Good for the British since Coldplay's giving their home country a bonus releasing it "early". Maybe.......

This may be a really stupid question but say it is actually released on the 24th worldwide, does that mean on the 24th your time or in GMT?

It will be available on October, 21st even in Australia!

The page says every copy of Mylo Xyloto has the two artworks, so each copy is identical, just displayed differently.

The rest of the world will be able to hear it before October 24th too. Somebody's going to upload it to YouTube after it's been released in Europe. Hopefully you'll be able to listen to it before EMI take it down.

Quite a lot of big bands that I like (at least, those based in the UK) announce their release date for a Monday (in this case, 24th October) which tends to be the UK release date, and promote it as being out then, whilst they give other places earlier releases but don't really announce it. I don't know why, but I can think of a few bands who've done this.

so i gave Debs a few links and asked her what's correct since we have different dates and well, Debs replied:
I didn't click the links but just looking at them it seems they are for different territories, which explains it. You'll have to wait for nearer the time for full territory by territory date details. If you're in the UK/US, the dates we gave are correct.

PS: i had a dream about mylo xyloto xD amazon offered it for preorder there, but sadly my dream has not become true as of yet :P
