MYLO XYLOTO,
THE NEW STUDIO ALBUM FROM COLDPLAY,
SET FOR OCTOBER 25th U.S. RELEASE
Coldplay’s fifth studio album, Mylo Xyloto (pronounced my-lo zy-letoe), will be
released in the U.S. on October 25th by Capitol Records. Produced by Markus Dravs,
Daniel Green and Rik Simpson, with enoxification and additional composition by Brian
Eno, Mylo Xyloto follows 2008’s Viva La Vida, which charted at No. 1 in 36 countries,
including the United States and the United Kingdom.
Mylo Xyloto will be released in digital, CD and vinyl formats. The 180-gram vinyl
edition will include a 12” x 36” poster. A special limited edition Pop-Up Album version
will also be available, which will include a 12" x 12" hardback book containing graffiti
pop-up art designed by David A. Carter, vinyl, CD and exclusive content including
photographs, excerpts from the studio diary and the band's personal notebooks. The
“reversible” cover art was just revealed at http://coldplay.com. Half of the CDs will be
packaged with the full color artwork as the cover while the other 50% will have the CD
booklet flipped, showing the silver initials “M X” via a die-cut sheet placed over the
color image.
“Paradise,” the follow-up to Coldplay’s current single, “Every Teardrop Is A
Waterfall,” will be released as a commercial single on September 12th. It will ship to
radio the same day.
Coldplay – comprising Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion and Chris
Martin – is featured on the cover of the latest issue of Billboard, which is out today. The
band has sold more than 50 million records worldwide and won numerous awards,
including seven GRAMMY® Awards, six Brit Awards and four MTV Video Music
Awards.

:thinking: Well that's weird. I wonder what the point of that is?

So all the booklets are the same, but half are just put in the case backwards so a different part of it is showing outwards? If that's not true and there really will be two different covers, judging by what people say on this board, I think the silver cover is going to be the most coveted by fans.

And I guess it really is pronounced "-zy-le-toe" :confused:

erm, i'd be pissed if theres really only ONE cover each, if you cannot flip it around to have the other one - i mean i don't think amazon will care which cover i get will they?! but i do care and i wand the myl oxyl oto one... not MX...

well the phrasing used makes me think that you'll be able to choose whichever cover you want once you own it, at least that's how i see it.... that's the point of something reversible, isn't it?

1 thats the same as the mx pop out, but has a hardbook with notes and pictures

I think the two versions are exactly the same, just one with the booklet flipped out or something. I'd prefer the MX one, but I think you can convert one into the other when you feel like it after getting it out of the plastic (that's why it's called reversible). No need to worry about those things. :)

Im probably going to buy Mylo Xyloto 2 times if the two versions are different. :\ It depends on the pre order bonus on Itunes, but anyway i am definitely getting the limited edition. I wish they would say where its being sold already. Does anybody know if the limited edition is only Coldplay.com or if it will be sold in stores and everywhere.

I was going to get the normal MYL OXYL OTO edition and the pop-up special edition. But it depends on how much the pop-up version and I still don't get how they are doing this thing with the MX cut out and flipping the booklets or something!

It sounds like they are reversible... But am I the only one who would like two different versions? So you can pick the one you prefer.

The website very clearly says reversible cover...which makes me think that maybe the artwork is... reversible
