They were probably just trying to choose release dates and since they like 42 so much... interesting discovery though! Today is also the 12th which is half of 24, thats probably a coincidence though.

To get back on topic I didn't really notice anything new but I really like the middle part of the artwork with all the red/yellow/white/blue paint. Kinda makes the shape of a heart actually. Also the 'under 1 roof' thing is in the bottom right corner. Thats shown up on the piano, the website announcement, and now this. Wonder what it is.

Remember, just because there's a song title or lyrics form it, it doesn't mean it'll be on the album. Think about the booklet in the last album, it had the lyrics to Glass of Water and Prospekt's March in it, also it listed Postcards From Far Away.

Is it just me, or have there been a lot of references to UFOs? One of the first promo pictures of the band had it in the background, it's all over their threads and their gear when they tour, and it's on the website in the 'live transmissions' icon. Album or EP track?

Yeah - coldplay's obsession or reference to the number 42 is taken from the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams. A classic sci fi novel. one of the themes or subplots of the story is the Ultimate Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything. The answer was 42 which led to so many theories by fans of the book, but in the end Douglas Adams said it was just an arbitrary answer - my guess is that his point was that it's something different for everybody, our purpose, our goals, and our experiences which shape our journey in this so called life.

Thus coldplay's fascination with the 42 (Those that are dead, are not dead, there just living in my head - perhaps the question of whether people are ever really dead, or always alive in one's mind and memories. Hence it's inclusion in Viva La Vida and Death and All of his friends. It's a brilliant track, and i hope they develop an arc to that song, perhaps a trilogy of sorts.

There's quite a bit to find in amongst all that graffiti, I love it. The colours are wonderful. And I love the use of the grey on the alternate side of the album cover -- certainly fits in with the whole concrete canvas/graffiti thing.

I think it's so insanely exciting that we got all this news and EMI came through for us in delivering what they said. NOW. All we need is the tracklist! (; :P Also. I noticed of lack of anything relating to UFO's. Kind of disappointed about that. But it's still the coolest album artwork I've ever seen.

I can't help but be bogged down and I'm surprised no one else mentioned this. Chris seems, just, "missing the mark" in the interview. Maybe it's all the intense pressure and frustration getting everything done but he said it could be their last album? But he always says that doesn't he? I remember after X&Y they were supposed to talk off like 2 or 3 years completely away from making music. And I think there's definitely a lot more directions out there they could go. I feel really bad though. I can't imagine how exhausted the guys are and it's all for us. But I don't see that they should break up- they're four best friends. They definitely deserve time off with their families and to do with they please though. I think if they're going to do a tour it should be a short one in Europe (as much as I would like to see them) and take a year or two to relax and have some family time. I never get tired of new Coldplay music but, if there's any band out there who deserves it, it's them. I really hope Chris feels better and gets his spirits up again. :\ He partially doesn't seem himself.

And I know this probably isn't the place for it and really random but. I wish there would be an 'introspective' mood. I feel that one pretty much more than any other.

I think Chris does feel that way all the time, but his spirit and personality r such that he is just so naturally curious about existence and so many different things that end up inspiring him (for example Frida Kahlo's paintings and life for Viva, 9/11 which changed American's and frankly the rest of the world's view that we all can be affected events that seem unreal - politik, clocks. Trying to find meaning in a ever increasingly electronic world (x & y songs).

I don't think they'll be away for long, only so long as to make a quality album that people who buy it, enjoy the album per the billboard interview, and frankly each album has been amazing to listen to and you truly get your money's worth and then some with all of their albums. That's their style and goal, and i love them for that.

Yeah, I know what you mean and I aggree with you. It was very hard for me to read that they plan a tour between summer 2012 and LATE SUMMER 2013. Sorry, but then the next record is 2017?! If there is a new record...

Don't know, as much I love Coldplay live, I want to hear some studio stuff by them and for that it is really important that they can relax and find new inspiration.

On the album cover, it spells out Mylo Xyloto like...

OXYL
OTO

It may be very irrelevant, oxyl is a process when radicals bound to oxygen. I found it funny cause the word radical has kinda been used to describe Mylo Xyloto's theme, with the graffiti and stuff.

Radicals bounding to oxygen could be the guys of Coldplay that the movement of people who are tryin to change everything around them and daring to be different is becoming apart of everyday life (oxygen).

Maybe I read way into it, but when I saw oxyl, I kinda was intrigued.

Hmm . . . now that I'm really looking at the artwork it almost looks like it's made up of several different sections :thinking: For instance, there's the bottom left corner which is mostly black and seems to break off in an almost straight line--the same with the upper right and lower right corners. Yeah - coldplay's obsession or reference to the number 42 is taken from the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams. A classic sci fi novel. one of the themes or subplots of the story is the Ultimate Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, The Universe, and Everything. The answer was 42 which led to so many theories by fans of the book, but in the end Douglas Adams said it was just an arbitrary answer - my guess is that his point was that it's something different for everybody, our purpose, our goals, and our experiences which shape our journey in this so called life.

Thus coldplay's fascination with the 42 (Those that are dead, are not dead, there just living in my head - perhaps the question of whether people are ever really dead, or always alive in one's mind and memories. Hence it's inclusion in Viva La Vida and Death and All of his friends. It's a brilliant track, and i hope they develop an arc to that song, perhaps a trilogy of sorts.

Anywho, I noticed something that no one has noticed so far, I think.
In this high resolution picture that I found, you can see the word "hypnoflow" several times.
I'm thinking that might be the name of another song on the album.
It reminds me of the hypnofeed for some reasons.

I'm viewing this album as sort of a companion piece to VLV, a second half or outlook that we haven't seen yet. I don't know how to describe it, maybe like an OKC vs. Kid A relationship? Not similar to the sound of those but just a progression. I feel like VLV and MX will go hand-in-hand.

With this picture we can see "Hypnoflow" on the left side, "Hypnotion" under the 2nd 'Y', Major Minus lyrics in the yellow M on the left in between the M and O of Mylo Xyloto, "...times sunlight" in the gray streak on the left that goes into the O of Mylo, something above the blue vertical MX on the left (why is everything on the left?!!?), and the lyrics in blue are just ETIAW's.

Oh, and something scrathed in on that white blotch next to the M.
