Somewhere up above my heart a tiny little seed is sown, a government is overthrown, who knows when we'll be coming home at last

And I heard it on the radio that one day we'll be living in the stars / and I heard it on a tv show that somewhere up above and in my heart

They'll be tearing us apart, maybe moving us to mars / past the satellites and stars, maybe moving us to mars

We won't see the earth again in these seconds just remain unchanged / 8 to 9, 9 to 10 / we are meeting for the first time

I am betting on a slow song. The lyrics are amazing!
Also, I think this is the final version of a song that was initially known as SPACE SYMPHONY.

Who wrote something against the new Lyrics of CM? Sorry, but the Lyrics of MTM, MM, CB (!!!!), Us Against the World etc. are incredible good! Better than most of all Coldplay-Lyrics. (Except ETIAW).

Are there any lyrics you consider as good?
BTW: I love the way they give us the impression of this situation... I love it when Lyrics create pictures of situations in your brain and you can connect these situations with the music.
As CM said...there is a secret story about a young couple, who are outsiders...really like that kind of litte background history.

Can't help but think of a few songs on X&Y (Speed of Sound, White Shadows, Square One). Similar lyrics. Probably a bit of spacey synth to help guide the song like those LP3 songs.
Charlie Brown and Us Against The World still has the most cracking lyrics though.

Really, your not so important for me that I take your opinion personal.
I said, its just my IMPRESSION of you and I asked you a serious question... that was all. So, now I have to say: Why you are so personal if someone asks you a question?
Surely, the kid of us three is you with regard to your silly joke above...

I posted my opinion, you and the other guy jumped to criticize me "ARE YOU CLAIMING THIS OR THAT" "YOU'RE DEPRESSED" bla bla bla, of course I'll reply. If you don't care about me then why you reply to all my posts and ask my opinion about things? It doesn't make sense.

Read carefully. I wrote: You are not SO important for me to take your opinion personal and I wasn't personal. Please, if you write you just wrote your opinion than you have to accept that others also say, they just wrote their opinion.
And trust me, I said also: Its just my impression of you. For sure, I was so relaxed in this moment I wrote that posting, so please don't tell me I was personal...
*Off.
PS: The joke was against a certain user, you knwo that and this implies the question who is actually the kid of us. Its not a good style to insult other users... but maybe this is a matter of personal taste.

No, I wrote my impression of her last postings. Thats all, and they were in my eyes quite pessimistic and depressed about everything new.
Thats ok for me, maybe she doesn't like that. No problem. But because of my impression of her, I asked her a simple, but serious question, if she like any lyrics of Coldplay. End.
I have no problem, that she doesn'nt like the new style of Coldplay, the new songs, the new lyrics...this is very personal.

Don't take every comment that isn't 100% :awesome: as a personal insult!!
Not everyone MUST like everything the band do and it's not necessary that you "defend" their actions and diss people not agreeing with you and provoke fights.

I think "Moving To Mars" is the end product of what we thought would be "Space Symphony".
Me too, as it says "Space Symphony" in the lyrics posted on twitter. I think it's great that a song from last year seen on the white board has survived and changed to now and we are finally getting to hear it. What kind of song do you think "Moving To Mars" will be?

My thoughts EXACTLY when I read them. To me, the lyrics sound like a reject track from X&Y that got a slight facelift and is being released. I also feel like this ETIAW release is going to be like Prospeckt's March. Not exactly a b-side but a mini album.

So, seems like they're ripping off U2, Muse, Radiohead and Paul Verhoeven with this one.
Just kidding, the lyrics seem awesome this time. They seem to have an actual meaning and there's hints about what's happening in the world. It's not like:
"I turn the engine up, I got my space suit on"
"Moving to Ma-a-a-a-a-a-a-ars!"
Most people are thinking this will be a slow song. Could be, could as well be a speedy song. Could be great, could as well sound like ETIAW. But I'm looking forward to it of course.

Sure thing ;)
This song in particular, I think, is about two people that are being turned out of their home--maybe because of a war? They are forced to relocate as refugees to a strange new place (Mars) in order to survive.
The lines 'wreckage of a universe' 'a government is overthrown / who knows when we'll be coming home at last' are a reference to a country that is torn apart by war/rebellion. Maybe one of the pair is a soldier and the other is a refugee?
'And I heard it on a radio we'll be living in the stars' --> They heard via an emergency radio broadcast that people need to evacuate and move to a safe place (another country, or, in this case, planet)
'We won't see the earth again in these seconds just remain unchanged' --> They are afraid that they'll never see their homes again. 'we are meeting for the first time' --> They are so concerned for each other's safety that they've forgotten all of their previous disputes and fights and it seems as if they've just met because of this.
~
This meaning also coincides with the movie 'Moving to Mars' which was directed by Matt Whitecrest (coincidence? Probably not :P )
So maybe this album won't be so much a 'techno alien love story' but a story of war/rebellion and the effect it has on not only the soldiers, but the refugees and civilians and society in general. Based on some of the other songs we've heard (Major Minus), it may also explore the psychological effects that the war has on people. I think of it as Viva, only exploring what goes on under the surface instead of the actual war/battle/rebellion/uprising in itself.
. . .
Did it work? :awesome:
Oh . . . sorry for the monster of a post :/

^^^
I am trying to Decifer it when I first read the lyrics. I thinkt the background could be a "disaster" [could be wars - as Mars in astrology or myths standing for wars] threatens a first union etc. I wonder whether there is a chance to avoid this "earth disintegration" if we know the exact date/time? I also think, together with the other two songs - should have a bigger/clear picture. But still confused with the following - seems like the most important clue - the numbers:
"We won't see the earth again in these seconds
just remain unchanged 8 to 9, 9 to 10 ===> meaning "9"?
we are meeting for the first time
we might never meet again you and me
we are meeting for the first time can't you see
76543 we are meeting for the first time ===> would 76543 be divided by a number like 365 days/year etc.
"
The numbers seem like Code embedded in the context for the Date/Time? As someone said, 21 is another clue as well. Maybe it is about an anniversary for a historical event?
Like to see how the whole picture can be revealed gradually. So far, the theme of LP5 is quite heavy...no less than Viva La Vida

The lyrics to this song literally made my morning. :D I'm absolutely loving it, space symphony indeed.

I'm waiting to listen to the song to hear the lyrics rather than reading them.

Maybe this is the song which getting faster and faster...? It begins slow and then the end is speedy!
And maybe also the tune getting louder?
Like AROBTTHH? That particular build-up is fantastic.

I hope it's a slow song. :wacky:
I really like the lyrics. To me they sound like something we would have seen back in the X&Y era.

This looks like a Muse song, and not in a good way. I mean the lyrics are weird :uhoh:
I honestly can't think of a single Muse song with good lyrics. Not one.

So far I find these lyrics the most promising of the songs I've heard, so that's something!

Coldplay - Moving To Mars
Somewhere up above the stars
The wreckage of a universe floats past
Somewhere up above my heart
A tiny little seed is sown
A government is overthrown
Who knows when we'll be coming home at last?
And I heard it on the radio that
One day we'll be living in the stars
And I heard it on a TV show that
Somewhere up above and in my heart
They'll be tearing us apart
Maybe moving us to Mars
We won't see the earth again
In these seconds just remain unchanged
8 to 9, 9 to 10
We are meeting for the first time
We might never meet again
You and me
We are meeting for the first time, can't you see?
7, 6, 5, 4, 3
We are meeting for the first time
Singing this space symphony
They'll be tearing us apart
Maybe moving us to Mars
Past the satellites and stars
Maybe moving us to Mars

Beautiful lyrics, fitting with the theme of Major Minus. I love them, even though I find the theme a tad bit depressing, but then re-appreciates ETIAW all over again as it sheds hope and light to an otherwise very dark subject matter...

One of my favorite Coldplay songs. Of all. It sound unique, familiar and part of me. I don't know and can't explain why.
About the lyrics, I believe it fits with both MM AND ETIAW. The difference is on the approach. The first sounds like a pursuiting, some of a dictature (is this right? damn not-my-native-language thing ) that's being established.
On the other hand, ETIAW is a celebration song. Like saying "We're going to win! And, even if we lose, WE'LL KEEP SINGING!!". And, even though the lyrics are a little silly in general, I like and respect ETIAW. Because they fulfill the meaning they're intended to.
And then comes this FREAKING MASTERPIECE. This... Monument. MTM. That reminds me of Wall-E. Anyway.
It fits the other two, like a following to MM. They escaped, at last! So now they have to fit in their new place (Mars here being a parallel to weird-and-unknown place), until they can go back to their real home.
Beautifully related, beautifully played.
That's what Coldplay's about.

^ THAT'S what I think of when I hear Moving to Mars--Wall-E! :freak:
I could not think of what that song reminded me of, and that's it!

It's just what I thought! The planet all destroyed, and Wall-E singing that to Eva... :/ LOL

The first part of this song may be the most coherent, lucid set of lyrics Chris has written. Even some of his harshest critics should be able to connect with what is said. Really brilliant, surprising even, the imagery Chris creates.

Lyrical content is still pretty subjective...
For example, if the Every Teardrop is a Waterfall lyrics were in a song like amsterdam, you guys would still think the lyrics were amazing. I think the feel of the song has a lot to do with your perception of the lyrics.

^ I agree. I think an acoustic of ETiaW would sound great! :nice:
But back to topic! :P
Chris does a really good job of projecting the imagery of the song through the lyrics. When I listen to MtM, I think of lying out under the stars in dead silence. When 1:32 comes, I picture the moon rising and Jonny's solo makes me think of meteor showers.

Lyrically, I think this is a strong song. And now after hearing the song...the lyrics are epic. But, that's just my measly $.02.

That's the Right lyrics after listening to the song. I am thinking of
"We are meeting for the first time -> 2, 1 - to one; maybe
Singing this space symphony"
the lyrics and the music are quite fit to each other; I love the cool-old-jazz style opening [some notes are quite "shivering"], then taking off to the outspace. I feel a reappearing of "early coldplay [doesn't like some B-sides...]" in this song - floating freely in a dream atmosphere, quite imaginative.
Look forward to what would happen after Moving to the Mars or not - the first meeting, the flashback of scenes before the "explosion" when Home is still Home...I think it is not necessarily a physical one - could mean a place in your heart, an existence pervasive in the universe, safe and warm, being real and true, kind too - it is about "lovemanity" connecting all.

"somewhere up above the stars

Is it just me or does it sound like Chris is saying "path" here?
It's probably just the style of delivery they chose for this song... I notice also that Chris doesn't annunciate "Government" and "overthrown" very clearly either. It's understandable what he's saying, but it almost sounds like he's delivering some of the opening verses with his last bit of strength.
I'm not criticizing the song for this as I think it somehow seems to fit the tenor of the song at that point. I think the music and the lyrics are brilliant.
