That song samples Peter Allen's "I Go to Rio", as does "Every Teardrop".
Allen is officially credited on Coldplay.com and in the iTunes file.

Allen is officially credited on Coldplay.com and in the iTunes file.As far as I'm aware, Ritmo de la Noche does not sample I Go to Rio. It just builds on the beat.

Some of the instrumental parts in the beginning reminded me so of Wing's song "Mull of Kintyre" from 1975/76 - one of my favourite songs from that time.

I like the new song - and in particular the first two times because it reminded me of Mull of Kintyre. But having heard it a few times more my enthusiasm is falling somewhat.
