No, I haven't, although I'll do it - youtube -
In my opinion should be "Meds" (first place) or "Drag" (second place) 'cos they're the songs that I love the most of the whole album but we will see...
Yeah, I've seen Infra-red. I like it, all this political stuff in songs and videos.

As i've been listing to them since some weeks ago i'll post here.
I expected that we will have like a 50 pages thread or something, and we have just 20 since 2003. :(
I began to listen to them from their last album, but i knew of their first album when was realised in spain, i wanted to buy it but as i was a child (i was like 11 or 12 at that time i think) i didn't bought it  and now i wish i've done it. :(
I begun to listen to them 'cause Song to say good bye that was played on the shops where i use to go... then i begun to like infra-red... love molko's haircut there and his dark clothes (i love him on dark clothes).... and now recently i knew that he did every you and every me (which is played on one of the films that i love most "cruel intentions") since then i can't stop my placebo addiction, althought i must reckon that i was scared at first for molko's style... you know he is so androgenous, but i love his voice.
I've just listened to:
Song to say good bye
infra-red
meds
every you and every me
pure morning
special needs
taste in men
because i want you
gonna listen to more songs of them, the ones that the founders of this thread recomended. ;)
pd: sorry for the long post, but at least placebo's thread is bumped since almost 2 months ago. :o
don't let placebo's thread die.

oh well they need to take something during concerts, be playing during hours with the lights must be tiring.
oh may be.... as you said he is quite excentric so... if he spent much money on it, he must be so hooked... i think
i also thought it was about the cereals but never listen that music on the adverts, and if you've seen the clip.. someone is checking steve (i think is the drummer) and brian get into his body driving something....
that's the thing i don't like of artist, as i read an article that says that main drugs are on our brian, and we use them when we think, so if we are in a creative mood we are taking them... and if they need to take them to be creative, is a bad thing
but as i told to my dad somedays ago, i can understand that being on a tour must be stressing and so you need "help" to go on with a concert almost each night.

i beging to think that they take a different look when they are on the tv and touring, different of their real look, so they can have a life when they aren't on tour, i mean it would be so stressing to have to stop to sign autographs all the day...
wow, quite funny.
when i went to madrid with my class i saw a famous actor here ans shouted like a crazy is *his name* and so all my classmates when to chase him and asked for pics and stuff... at first it would be funny but, so stressing.

i've read on a last group that steven, the drummer is leaving Placebo :o  why? :(
well he wasn't the first drummer that Placebo has had but anyways, i like him. I suppouse that is because he feels that is a period of his life that must close (he has been playing on that band for 10 years or so i think)..
good luck Steven, we will miss you.

good.. but hey i want to see you live this year, so c'mon and play again boys :p (nah i'm joking, better to wait till they have a great new album and a new good drummer), hope it don't take them a couple of years, if so be aware i'll go to all your concerts in Spain and Portugal then :wink3: jk :p

PLACEBO(debut) > Sleeping With Ghosts > Without You I'm Nothing > MEDS > Black Market Music
well where i looked for is not a music store at all, is a supermarket...
lucky you ;) not in the chronological order but i think that you have all them. :D
I hope i can buy at least (this year i hope) Sleeping with Ghosts and Meds. But i would like to can buy the 5 of them.
had you read the previous post? Steven is leaving.. you know if they are working on a 6th album? i don't knowif they had finished touring with the Projekt revolution..

I guess its a chance for placebo to take a break again. haha
well, i think a new drummer might be good, i'd really love to see them going in another direction in music. trying out something new, a new drummer might make it happen.
though there's always the possibility of them retiring. :(

well if they will stop working now, for a short time, find another drumer and prepare a new album, they i think they will try new things, brian said he likes to try new things on each album and improve himself on lyrics.
so may be they can go to one side or to the other one.... electronica or acoustic, an album with songs of both styles would be good... :)

according to a board (the owners say that they had talked with the bassist (Stefan Olsdal)):
he has confirmed us the latest news published on the official site. After the long tour they have been doing for Meds, Placebo are still enjoying their holidays. Stefan is working in Hotel Persona's project enthusiastically, the album is already finished and they are now on negotations with different labels to release it. Even so Hotel Persona will give their first live shows in the next months.
Hotel Persona will be touring till Spring 2008, when Placebo will be back to the studio for the recording of their new album. The boys already have some new songs to work with. In that moment the band will have too to choose a new drumer to work with in studio and live. There won't be any solo album by Brian Molko, the songs he is preparing will be for Placebo's new album.

and I just realised I have missed Placebo in Singapore last year. :/
They came for some little 'showcasing'. HMV was issuing out tickets for those who buy Placebo's MEDS + any other album. It was very vague so I didn't know they they would actually come IN PERSON. I thought it's just some album showcase. So when I finally went back to HMV thinking I should go no matter what cos I love them, THE TICKETS ARE ALL GONE.

PLACEBO - THE RETURN!
Good news friends - Placebo are back in the studio working on a new album!
The band finished the last touring campaign in September of last year in the USA (on the Projekt Revolution tour with Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance) and since then took some much needed time out, and over the past couple of months have been hard at work writing and demoing the new material in London.
The boys are now recording with producer David Bottrill (the man behind Tool's 'Aenima', 'Salival' and 'Lateralus' albums, Silverchair's 'Diorama' and dEUS 'The Ideal Crash'). Engineering the album is James Brown who worked with the band on 'Meds'.
……….And on the drums with Placebo……..?????!!!!! Introducing.…..Mr Steve Forrest! From Modesto, California. Previously the drummer with the American rock band, 'Evaline'. Some of you may have spotted Steve playing with Evaline supporting Placebo on their US tour in October 06.

NEW ALBUM "BATTLE FOR THE SUN" Release Date: June 8, 2009
The album, entitled 'Battle For The Sun', is the group's first new studio effort since 2006's 'Meds'.
The album's title track will be given a world exclusive play on BBC Radio One DJ Zane Lowe's show from 7pm today (March 17th).
'Battle For The Sun' was recorded over three months with producer Dave Bottrill in Toronto, Canada and mixed in London by Alan Moulder.
Singer Brian Molko said the band had made an album about choosing life, about choosing to live, about stepping out of the darkness and into the light.
He added: Not necessarily turning your back on the darkness because its there, its essential; its a part of who you are, but more about the choice of standing in the sunlight instead.

Placebo announce full album tracklisting
Brian has explained the thinking behind the collection, as well as the tracklisting.
Molko said: "I believe 'Battle' to be the first of our albums to tell a story over the course of its 52 minutes. Our previous releases were really only collections of songs and even though the songs are ordered according to the musical flow, I hope that if you listen hard enough to the words that some kind of discernible thematic unity will begin to emerge."

The tracklisting is:
'Kitty Litter'

'Devil In The Details'
'Bright Lights'
'Speak In Tongues'
'The Never-Ending Why'

no big surprise, the album is released in june, so summer time has a lot of festivals everywhere, good way to tour/promote the album the first months.
and well they use to play in festivals, not only on this tour... pay attention to 17th July, two concerts on the same day? :o
anyways i would call it a festival tour if they would come to any festival near to were i live :P (those are not very known ones, although two years ago they were seriously rumoured for one of them :stunned: ).

Good stuff! Restored my faith a bit after being worried by the title track. This looks like a good album, and even if not this is still a mighty fine Placebo single leaving that trend unbroken.

Good stuff indeed! I heard it this morning on the radio and they interviewed Brian who said the 'Placebo split' rumors are bullshit...He said that the band have many things to achieve musically and that a split is out of the question for the years to come ^^

BRAIN MOLKO GREW HIS HAIR!! LONG!! REALLY LONG!!!
i love the song and annoyed at the negative reaction to it. its a much more mature sounding placebo and i'm really looking forward to this upcoming record.
but the little mario kart bit is an epic fail.

02-05-2009, 08:30 AM
yes hehe i've noticied that from another vid from their channel some months ago.
so strange how it can be that long when not long ago he has it very short.
what do you mean with the mario kart bit?
Famous Old Painter

but the little mario kart bit is an epic fail.
That bit is pure genius. You die now.
Also on Rage last night, they played this clip next to Kasabian's newbie Fire. Two formerly short haired now way too long hair singers in a row. Is this the new style?

on the adverts it says that today they will play 4 songs for xfm.
too bad i didn't knew it earlier :\

There are vids (youtube) with the songs they played for xfm (ashtray heart, wouldn't it be good, battle for the sun, for what it's worth) radio and of their show played in Sheffield.
user bullydayz seems have more songs played live on his channel:
Julien
Happy you're gone
devil in the details
speak in tongues
ashtray heart
Btw from what i've read their new song: Wouldn't it be good, is a reprise from Nik Kershaw from 1984.
Well sincerelly when i've listened that one i thought the video was a rick-roll as i thought... :uhoh: don't that song is from the 80's :uhoh:

hehe asthray heart has some part in spanish  that has made my day.
cenicero, cenicero, cenicero
mi corazón cenicero.
(means:
ashtray, ashtray, ashtray
my ashtray heart).
i would say the accent of the spanish part is mexican, i'm not sure thought (the C sounds more like an S in spanish that is not typical from Spain).

Hey! I'm new on Coldplaying.com so hi everyone! I'm a huge Placebo fan. I can't stop listening to BFTS since it came out. It is so much better than Meds!;)
I was lucky enough to see them twice last month, at the Pinkpop festival and at the Cirque Royal in Brussels. The CR gig was awesome. It was really weird to see them play such a tiny venue, especially just after seeing them at a festival. I've already ordered my tickets for Antwerp in December. I'm negociating to go to the Pukkelpop in August too. Seems like I can't get enough of these guys :)
I'm glad to see some people here also like Placebo. I always feel a bit isolated cause not many of my friends like them. :laugh3:

I have been listening to them for 12 years or so? I mean, they were the craze here when they started cause Brian was born in Belgium, raised in Luxemburg, and the medias here used to describe Placebo as a "local" band getting famous at the time... They were like a national pride, and we don't have that many. Of course, Placebo was in fact everything but a Belgian band, but that's basically how I heard of them first ;) I kept listening to them since then, with ups and downs, alterning periods of fangirlness and periods of disinterest. (As you can tell, I'm in a fangirlness period right now, doing many many of their gigs ;))
My favourite album... I know it's not a real album but the CD I listen to the most is Once More with Feeling lol. Usually,I ain't fond of compilations, but this one is just perfect. And BFTS is not far from becoming my favourite cause I like every single song on it but maybe Battle for the Sun.
Songs... 36 degrees, Special K, Special Needs, Song to say goodbye, the Bitter end, Nancy Boy, there are so many of them actually! :D
And you? How long have u been listening to them and what are your favourites?
Darlene_Ihnfsa
07-07-2009, 10:39 PM
wow that's great. lucky you :D
so you are from Belgium?
well about from where are they, i've read press said they are britpop, because they were like formed in London... i can be wrong.
Once More With Feeling is great, right that.
Well, when i first heard of them, back in 1996 or so, i considered very young as to get into a band (i was 9 or 10), .... for what i listened of them back then i liked it.
sincerecely i got more into them like 4 years ago, due to some reasons i won't explain.
when i firstly heard Song to say goodbye i turned to listen them a bit obsessively as to say.
and same i can't choose just a song, it depends on the mood.

I am from Belgium yes :) I think they're 100% british, altho Brian likes to introduce himself as an international character. In Landgraaf he said "we're sons of the Netherlands", 2 days later in Brussels he said "We are sons of Belgium" lol.
I agree with the mood thing, it's probably why I can't get bored of them. They have a song for every state of mind I can be in... They either calm me down when I need it or give me energy when I'm a bit under the weather. :)

my bad i missed those two :shame:
two new vids from the last album:
YouTube - Placebo - The Never-Ending Why (Official Video)
YouTube - Placebo - Ashtray Heart (Official Video)
a bit too "psychedelic" for me, i prefer Meds vid... but well..
btw is just my impression, or Never-Ending Why vid is a bit similar to Coldplay's SS (in some parts)?
btw about the concert they did in my city (which i couldn't atted), was so bad, they had technical problems and left the stage on the 6th song (the setlist was meant to be of 19 songs). :(
definitelly i see Nancy is back :uhoh:
