As someone who was actually there, I can confirm that nearly every person holding onto a balloon was carrying it out of the festival. They continued flashing rainbow colors after the show, so it was funny walking through the campgrounds and seeing giant glowing orbs through lots of the tents. (I don't know how you sleep with one of those things in your tent, though.) I also wondered how long they continued glowing.

Yeah it's effectively the courtyard ie the esplanade where the Royal Military Tattoo is held every year. It's the first concert to be held there by a band so expect more in the future.

In fact I'm pretty sure Edinburgh's their last tour date. Anyhow this is the venue.
