yeah im really impressed by this Main Square festival. it only has a daily attendance of 30 000 so it pull a line up like that is very impressive.
seems like coldplay might get very well acquainted with kings of leon this summer haha. they're at about 5 festivals together.

That's what I thought too. Plus they cancelled it last year because in 2009 the weather was terrible. I was there and I had to throw out my shoes they were so covered in mud. Even so they really should have it. Honestly there is no good festival here in the tri-state area, nevermind the northeast. I loved APW in 2008. I got to see Radiohead, Andrew Bird, and Grizzly Bear and honestly it was awesome! 2009 was good (I saw Coldplay, Mogwai, Echo and Bunnymen, The Black Keys), but I guess the weather kind of hindered the experience from being as good as in 08. I still hope they have it.

And so close to the city, they probably got a lot of traffic in and out of NYC. . .

well I got a ride in both times and yes it was hectic, and also looking at the trains going out I can only imagine how crazy it was. But even so when I went to Osheaga this year the lines were also crazy getting out since almost everyone was using the trains. I hope at least if they don't have it in Liberty State Park, it's in Central Park, which would be probably a lot more convenient for so many people.
Either way they need a festival for NY. I mean California and Chicago get one... so why not one for the most popular city in (arguably) the world?

Yeah, I can only imagine. :anxious:
Where's Osheaga?
Yeah, the one positive thing about Bamboozle is that it's in the New Meadowlands Stadium parking lot, so no mud! :awesome:
Meh, I'd have to argue that Central Park is in the heart of Manhattan, which makes it really easy for anyone in NYC to get there. But it would be really crazy for anyone to drive there. It takes me 45 minutes longer than it should take to drive into NYC, and I can only imagine how much worse the traffic would be if there was a festival there. Especially since everyone in the area is festival-deprived; it would be crazy.
Although I do agree that NY needs a festival.

so who will get bottled at reading n leeds this year? i can't think of any at this point. maybe if they announce a hip hop act it might be easier.
MCR got the treatment last time they played, they're headlining this time so thats less likely.

i can't read a word of german but i get the impression from that website that you can watch the stream there of coldplay's headlining performance. as well as Interpol, Gaslight Anthem and a few others.

optimus alive added :)
Primavera took place last week. it was broadcast by radio station WFMU. you can listen to their recordings here. http://wfmu.org/playlists/SZ includes sets from animal collective, deerhunter, battles and interpol.
Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park as you all know was last weekend. the line up was very very poor. i had a look at the set times and i would've been very bored had i gone. anyways here's a bit of footage.

next weekend is probably the biggest of the year with Pinkpop, Bonnaroo, Isle of Wight, Jammin and Download Festivals taking place. fingers crossed for some good webcasts and tv coverage. Pinkpop almost always has decent radio and tv coverage with 3VOOR12? Bonnaroo i fear might be a Vevo only webcast meaning only those in north american can watch. Isle of Wight is usually covered by one of the british tv channels.

Bonnaroo is webcasting for all here - www.bonnaroo/webcast
good line up of performances!!
no such coverage for Pinkpop or Download. although Isle of Wight is being covered by Sky TV.

so anyone watching M&S? holy crap these guys have become one effing huge rock band!
Grace.

Just tuned in. Loove M&S. Most awesome 'rock' band with banjoes around :P

12-06-2011, 02:29 AM
and they're doing a 90min set!! i've seen bands with 4-5 albums who only do 80min sets *cough*phoenix*cough*
not a huge fan of their album but probably one of the most impressive live shows i've ever been to. great muscianship, great stage presence, great chemistry.....great everything really.
Grace.
12-06-2011, 02:50 AM
naww I love phoenix!
But yes, I agree, they were definitely a highlight for the third day of Splendour last year. Just awesome.

i guess when it comes to live music i'm a firm believer in quantity= quality.
annoyed that i'll miss AF's entire set thanks to freken work.
Grace.
12-06-2011, 03:00 AM
Haha, really? I'd rather have an amazing 30min set than a dull 90min set. (Not sure that's entirely what you meant, but hey).
Stupid work. But hey, Sunday pay :awesome:
Grace.

Also, the banjo player's beard is horrendous.

hahahah and he's a tad weird too!
well the thing is i usually only go see a band if i like their albums or a ton of their singles. and i'm talking about major bands here. for example if i go see arctic monkeys tomorrow and they decide to play almost every song off their new album and a few from each other album and end up doing a 30 song set. in my mind there's no way that could beat a 18 song set regardless how intense it is.
for example this M&S set here. 70mins in now, only 1 album behind them and there hasn't been a dull moment yet.
Grace.
12-06-2011, 03:16 AM
Awwwww  they're singing to me! :P
Grace.
12-06-2011, 03:17 AM
Seriously though, I understand what you mean. But if a band's good live, they're going to be good regardless so of course a longer set is going to be better.

nice watching with you Grace :)
and can i just add. imo Bonnaroo is the only festival in the world that can hold a candle to glastonbury.
Grace.

So, when's the next webcast? :awesome:
deaths_friend
13-06-2011, 02:23 AM
next good one is Lollapalooza. but in the meantime i'll be looking for a place to stream Glasto off bbc. rock werchter used to have an awesome multi stage webcast so with some luck that might return but it might be a regional only thing. i'll post footage from all the other telecast festivals as they happen.
but Pitchfork Fest in mid july is usually webcast. so thats the next stop for us :)
Grace.
13-06-2011, 02:30 AM
Sweeet. I'm really going to be relying on you when it comes to these things, I'd really have no idea about any festivals going on outside Aus besides the lineups!
Thanks for doing such a great job so far though!

oh yeah that was a very very small sample of what i want to do. Glasto is my number 1 and i will be sure to be there in 2013. 2014 at the latest!! i gotta do a few more aussie fests first just to get the hang of the experience.
Grace.
13-06-2011, 04:40 AM
^ *Aussie camping festivals? Have you been to any yet or will Splendour be your first? :awesome:
Wahhh that's so close! That's awesome, going to Glasto will be such an amazing experience!!
Going there one day would just complete my life. It definitely won't be happening as early as 2013 (that's the year I'll graduate) but one day, I will go!
