2011 TICKETS ON SALE ON OCTOBER 3RD
Hello again. We're pleased to confirm that tickets for Glastonbury
Festival 2011 will go on sale at 9am on Sunday, October 3rd, costing
£195 (+ £5 booking fee and P&P). You will be able to book your tickets
by paying a £50 deposit per person, either online at
http://www.seetickets.com/g2011
or on the booking line: 0844 412 4635.
There will then be no further UK payments taken until the booking site
re-opens on April 1st 2011, when you will have a week to pay your
balance of £145 per ticket, and to book everything else you might need
(tipis, campervan tickets, parking, insurance). To clarify - it will
not be possible to pay for a ticket in full in October, when only
deposits will be taken.
This extension to our deposit scheme will allow people more time to
save for their tickets, knowing that they have a secured booking. It
will also help the Festival to reduce costs, allowing us to give more
to our joint charities.
Please note, the balance payment window for international buyers will
be for one week from February 25th to March 3rd 2011.
Anyone who decides not to pay their balance in 2011 will be refunded
their deposit, minus a £10 administration fee. Those tickets will then
be put forward to a re-sale, which is likely to be in April or May
2011.
To buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2011 you will need to be registered.
To register your details please click here
http://www.glastonburyregistration.co.uk/
. Or, to check whether you're already registered for next year, click
here http://www.seetickets.com/see/getglas.asp
. And for full 2011 ticket information, please click here
http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/information/tickets/2011-ticket-info
-----------
So put your money down on the 3rd and only have a week in which to make the final payments in April time?
The deposit system is a brilliant idea, but only having 1 week to pay your remaining balance and getting other bits is stupid.

If you do the deposit thing, and you decide not to go, you'll get 40 pounds back. So you'll only pay 10 pounds.
I just hope it's after my finals, but I won't know till November. :nice:

Interesting deal, indeed! :nice:
That would be such a nice way to begin summer! ^^
That's the same question for me, but if I organize my work, I could be free from uni around mid-June *crossing fingers*

That's the thing with Glastonbury, you buy tickets not knowing whom will be playing. Glastonbury is very much more than the music, which is why it will sell out in record time this year without a single band being confirmed as playing.

Who knows how many tickets will be in the resale, it depends how many cancellations they get (both from not-paying reminder of balance & cancelling the tickets due to various reasons).

Generally at festivals like this there's so much to do/see/hear you don't necessarily need a great line up. But most of the time Glastonbury's line up is pretty drool-worthy.
@Acquiesce: Do you know Lowlands? It'll be like Glasto this year in terms of tickets selling out with only a handful of bands confirmed.
Anyhow. I've been dying to go for years and this year I'll finally have the money/means/time to go. But I'll probably go by myself because apparently my friends don't like festivals as much as I do.
By the way, last year a Dutch band self confirmed in August, but I guess nobody in the UK noticed.

You need to set up an account for you and the person you're going with before you can buy tickets.
If you plan to buy tickets for other people, they all need to be registered - and you will need their registration numbers to purchase tickets on their behalf.

They are Sunday tickets available, but they are for local residents only.

I think rock Werchter is also very expensive ...
I would be okay to give that much money , but only if I at least know who's comming :o
and the names would have to be very great
I mean , 240 Euro for Glasto , with NO names !
I find that really wierd ...buying festival tickets , and not having a clue who's comming...
You go to a festival for Music right ?
Black Rose
05-09-2010, 06:50 PM
Put your deposit down, if you don't like any of the names which leak out before 1st April (chances are by then 2 of the 3 headliners will be out), you don't have to pay your reminder and get back £40 :)
It's a bit like the other major festivals whom sell a small number of early-bird tickets for the following years festival the week after the current years festival, people buy them not knowing a damn thing whom will play in 2011.

You go to a festival for Music right ? :confused:Only partly in my experience. I'd rather go to a festival where I know I'll have an amazing time with an inferior line up than go to a festival that's crap but has a great line up. The music is important but things like atmosphere and how the festival is run are at least equally important. For example, Rock Werchter is almost as expensive as Glastonbury (usually pretty good names too) but from what I heard the festival itself isn't all that great.
And most of the festivals that sell out in a day aren't just known for the bands they book. :nice:

1 - It was sunny this year
2 - There is no festival in 2012
3 - People have money in the banks

So did anyone get tickets?
After all of this hoopla, and some convincing from friends, I think I am going to register on Monday to be able to get some tickets during the second round. That is, assuming there are tickets left! Is there any way to find out how many tickets have already sold, and how many are remaining?

It's tomorrow morning.
Based on this year the tickets will go pretty fast, than in a couple days under the cover of silence any failed transaction tickets will go back on sale. Then that will probably be it until Mid-April time when any cancelled/non-paid-up tickets will go back on sale.

I read some comments online that last year some people were complaining about the seetickets site. Some people got tickets just fine, some people were trying to get on the site all day last year and couldn't get through and didn't get tickets. You'd think they would anticipate the high amount of traffic that would be on their site. Anyway, hope you get through!

The seetickets site was utter shite. I spent over 4 hours right from the start refreshing 4 different browsers (with about 4 tabs each) on 2 laptops, so I must have refreshed a zillion times. Didn't get a ticket though. The first time I could go onto the seetickets site was when it had sold out already. Grrr.
Pisses me off. :mean:

Glastonbury 2011 tickets sell out within four hours
All tickets for Glastonbury 2011 sold out within just over four hours of going onsale today (October 3).
The tickets, which were made available online through Seetickets.com/g2011 and a phoneline from 9am (BST), were all snapped up by 1.15pm (BST), according to the event's official website Glastonburyfestivals.co.uk.
In a statement on the site and their official Twitter account, Twitter.com/glastofest, organisers thanked punters for the patience with the booking system.
They said: "We're very sorry to those of you who didn't get tickets, and acknowledge there were some issues with the website/phoneline due to the sheer volume of people trying to get through."
The price for each ticket to the Somerset event is £195, plus postage and packing and a £5 booking fee.
Glastonbury 2011 takes place at Worthy Farm, Pilton. Billed music takes place on June 24-26, with the site opening on June 22.
Founder Michael Eavis has previously said that he will announce the three confirmed Glastonbury headliners once all tickets have sold out.
He also denied plans for retiring from organising the event, stating he has got "another 10 years possibly left in me."
