Tell them that they have obviously not experienced the music gods that are Muse (which is kind of funny, since the Muses were gods of music. . . anyways). :phu:

Although that does suck for you.

But really, don't worry about it too much- you're seeing the last of Muse for a while until they go back to writing new music, finish the album, do European tours, then finally head over to the US. But you're only missing the very, very beginning of a loooooooong Coldplay touring time. You'll most likely be able to see them bunches of times.

Well, reference baby names... I was supposed to be a boy so my parents prepared boy names only and then I ended up being a girl, so I was unnamed for like three days. They didn't make the same mistake with my brother, but they thought my brother didn't 'look like' any of the names they had picked out, so he went nameless for a week.

So we could be waiting FOREVER.

And, I think, you're very right to go for Muse opposed to Coldplay. Muse are heading into the recesses of music for a bit whilst Coldplay are just coming out... So you'll be able to catch Coldplay again in the year. Muse are a bit of a rarity right now.

HAHAHAAHAHAHA

It's not funny! :bigcry:

 I've never heard of that before... At least it would've been unique?

I was almost named Bart

My dad got it from the movie "I Remember Mama," which is about this Norwegian family. Dagmar is the name of the youngest daughter. :|

It wasn't that big of a deal, and I believe my mother said he was half-joking when he made the suggestion. But only half-joking, not a complete joke. So yeah. :|

Actually, if I were a boy, I'd have my brother's name. They almost named me Paula, but then they found that Violet meant the same thing and sounded much prettier, so they went and named me that instead and saved the name Paul for the first of my two brothers.

Okay guys, it's Dom story time:

I was on my way to the venue when I got a call from a friend who was already at the venue. She had already caught up with Dom and talked with him for over 5 minutes, so I was really disappointed that I had just missed him since I was about 15 minutes from the venue at the time. So I was a little mopey when I got there. So I just talked with friends for a bit beforehand and they started lining up people a few minutes before doors. I'm toward the front of the line, then suddenly the door creaks open and I see the backside of who I'm positive is Dom walking the other direction. After hesitating for a few seconds, I decide to bolt from the line and completely lose my spot in order to creep behind Dom.

A couple other fans caught up with him from the other side who luckily stalled him for me. I asked him to sign Absolution and take a picture with me, which he kindly agreed to, although I had to beg for my sharpie back since he was using it to sign like 10 other people's items. (Yes, my sharpie is now infamously smeared with Dom germs.) I got a quick few words in with him about how I'm looking forward to the show and the upcoming festivals, to which he mostly replied "Yeah, yeah, cheers, yeah, cheers, cheers".

I got back in line eventually because other fans were bombarding him, having completely lost my spot near the front, but totally worth it, especially since much of my time inside was spent in the lounge. Talked with some fellow Musers, then chilled around for Support Act 1 (awesome, chill band) and Support Act 2 (crappy generic rock), then finally Vicky Cryer, who, quite honestly, were a bit of a disappointment. Other than taking pics of Dom, I was not really enthralled by their set.

We waited around over an hour afterwards thanking the band members anyway as they crept out to their afterparty. Dom was the last one out, so I got one quick final word with him at like 1:30am, which consisted of me calling him a cheater for using the main Muse Twitter, then repeating that I'll see him at the festivals. I could have gone to the afterparty (manager gave us the exact location) but I was really tired and I'd already accomplished what I had set out to do anyway.

I'll post my other Dom pics soon enough. :)

Bingham Bellamy Parents: Matt Bellamy and Kate Hudson Why? Apparently the name has 'family connections'. That was the dog's name wasn't it?

offtopic but on apple's name
Apple Martin Parents: Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow Why? Possibly to encourage a future of adult alcoholism, "Hi I'm Apple Martin, can I have an apple martini please?"

OKAY, MY FELLOW MUSERS. I have questions. I know I could easily look this up online, but I wanna ask you people too. I've never been to a Muse festival gig (or a concert), so I don't really know what to expect. Tips? Warnings? Ways of making it out of the pit alive and in one piece? Ways of making sure your bag/wallet doesn't get stolen while jumping around to Muse? What's the barrier like?

Anything is much appreciated! :D

Maybe I should also add the fact that I'm 5 ft. and 2 inches tall. :blank:

Outside Lands? I'll be there too. I also don't intend on letting anyone get in my way, even people I know. ;)

But I can shed some advice to help you compete. Since Muse plays on Day 2, you can get the feel for the festival and learn the layout on Day 1. Plan your day. Honestly, Muse pits are tame compared to hardcore bands. The majority of the crowd will be jumping up and down and fist-pumping, but Muse doesn't attract moshers or shovers. So you don't have to worry about getting knocked down and you don't have to worry about losing pocket items. Still, I'd pack as lightly as possible for convenience.

Barrier is ideal for both viewing and having space in front of you to move your arms, but getting there takes dedication, namely camping out all day by the stage. Wait for the day-by-day schedule to be released to determine whether camping is worth it to you. As a warning, I am hell-bent on getting barrier and I have a few psycho friends who are the same (though only like one-tenth of the amount of Lolla Musers, so should be easier than Lolla).

You'll have fun no matter what! :)

All joking aside, thank you so much! Your post is really helpful. :nice: That's a good thing to know about Muse crowds. I think I'm going to go for barrier, since my friend, who is pretty much in love with Matt, is determined to be there on his side. That is, if waiting by the barrier doesn't conflict with other bands we want to see. :anxious:

Hahaha, well, I'm the same height as you
My advice would be to try and get barrier. Or at least second row where you can hold onto the barrier. I've only seen Muse twice but both times involved lots of moshing! The first time, I didn't have a position on the barrier and ended up being pushed waaaay out the side (at least it was a bit quieter there, though )
The second time, I'd learned my lesson and got a spot on the barrier, right in front of Chris. I still got squashed by a girl behind me (she kept trying to push in beside me and I wouldn't let her because that would've pushed me off the barrier, and then she got angry and just leaned on me... and she wasn't small, either :P) but it was much better.
Watch out for creepy people too... throughout the gig someone kept holding onto my waist (like, under my shirt, it was weird) but I thought it was my friend trying to hold on because she was behind me... but when the gig was over and I asked her about it, she said it wasn't her... :uhoh:

I'm 5'2ish too! :awesome: Probably closer to 5'3 I think.

Anyway, besides the point, I haven't had experience with barrier at Mooze, but I have has experience with festival barriers so this counts, non?

My advise is that if you're unable to get barrier or second row, then put yourself some space between you and the person in front. When the acts come on, people tend to surge forward-- so if you've given yourself some space in front then when they move you don't get crushed. Just squashed.

Try and make friends with the people around you. If you amass a bigger group, it's more likely you'll all stay in place and help each other. Plus it means they don't tend to look at you so grumpily when you bash in to them.

Bag wise, I'd always advise that it is better to put your bag on your front opposed to your side. My friends went for the bum bags on the front, whilst I got a waterproof pouch that went over my neck. That way it's less liable to get sniped or get caught in the crowd. Plus, if you're at barrier, the barrier will hold it in place and protect it.

If you're further back another tip is to just go with it. If you put up too much resistance then you'll probably get hurt. Also, try and keep an eye on your friend so you can stick together. If not, arrange a meeting point for after.

Hahaha, well, I'm the same height as you

I usually steer clear of moshpits cos i'm of pretty slight build so i'm not really built for them and fear of being crushed, but since i'd just survived Biffy Clyro and was maybe about 8 or 10 rows from the front and had a fantastic view, i thought i'd be OK staying there for Muse - how wrong i was.:stunned: As soon as they came onstage and started playing everyone went ABSOLUTELY MENTAL. I only managed to stay upright by clinging onto whoever was in front of me for dear life!! I was on my own too, and honestly i was so scared - about halfway through SMBH (the second song) i knew i had to get out of there and somehow managed to escape - the rest of the night after that was absolutely EPIC, apart from when i realised i'd lost my coat that'd been wrapped around my waist in the moshpit.

Ok, first off, the closer to the barrier the better- if nothing else, security is there to keep an eye out for you and can pull you out if you break a rib. :awesome: (I'm just teasing about the rib, you'll be fine :P)

Also, watch the security. If a security guard comes running at you, cover your head and duck. Most likely there's a crowd surfer behind you, and you really don't want to get smacked in the head by them.

Mosh pits- stay away. :uhoh:

Befriend the people around you, so you can watch each other's backs.

And then for the rest I'd say just go with the flow. :awesome:

I'm 5'2ish too! :awesome: Probably closer to 5'3 I think.

We're all :awesome: heights.

My Dad likes Muse too. He sat there and watched HAARP too and decided he'd like to see them too

Wemblayyyy was insane though.

5'3 and a half. :disappointed:

Lucky! My mom respects Muse but I wouldn't call her a fan (she is a Dom fan though hahahahaha, when we saw them live she kept commenting about how strong he is )

don't worry im 5'6

Woah, the title of this thread is quite angsty.

Hai Emma!

I made the title. :ninja:

And it comes from this song:

and because on occasion we'll have someone come in here and bitch about how awful Muse is to us.

I don't like the name Bing, but Bingham is ok. Will his last name be Bellamy or Hudson? Or Bellamy-Hudson? :anxious:

I haven't either! :awesome:
But I know from my seat, waaaay up in the back, what to look out for and such.

Welcome back, Christina! According to Matt's twitter, I think Bing will have just the Bellamy surname.

Matt in a suit? :wideeyed:

Thank you for those tips! Haha, I'd love to have all my ribs intact by the end, yes. I'll definitely keep that in mind about the crowd surfers, which is also one of my main worries.

He still likes Muse :D

True. :D

You can always ask Chris Wolstenholme. He already has to look out for five children. I'm sure a 6th wouldn't hurt.

I could never ever ever ever ever ever do that. You don't ask potential husbands to adopt you. Nope. :|

Lucky! My mom respects Muse but I wouldn't call her a fan (she is a Dom fan though hahahahaha, when we saw them live she kept commenting about how strong he is )

A leprechaun? He's too tall to be a leprechaun. :wtf:

I don't really know what it is about Dom that I don't find attractive. Usually, I can explain why, but for some reason, Dom is just...I don't know.

But but...Dommeh is HOT! :dead:

I remember one of my Facebook friends using his status to proclaim his eternal love and devotion to Matt Bellamy, along with how hot Bells is. Turns out his friend "hacked" his FB account, but I still approved.

Ahhhh I hate timezones sometimes, I miss all the fun! :bigcry:

WTF YOU GOT IN FRONT OF CHRIS? ASODFJSADKNBGAHPSIADJRAGIASNDFDA I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU RIGHT NOW IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY.
...Sorry. My inner Wolstenfan got in the way. :shame: But I'm still jealous of you.

Ewww. Creeper got his creep on. :anxious: At least nothing worse happened.
Pretty sure creep was a she, which makes things a bit better, but still... and yeah, got in front of Chris :cheesy: don't worry Violet, you'll get to experience the same one day. ONE DAY :D

^Of course :awesome: We're all amazen.
:awesome: *high fives*

I'm short too :bigcry: I had to be on tiptoes (is this how you say it?) during the whole Muse concert!! It was painful! :|
I know that feeling!! The first time I saw Muse I was in fourth row, right on the edge of the little metal platform that comes off the barrier, and if I stood on that on tiptoes, I could see Matt, and if I didn't stand on tiptoes then I fell off the little platform and couldn't see at all! My feet were not in a good state after that

I had a similar experience at a non-Muse mosh... it's scary, huh?

Oh, my dad always loves to try to have music discussions with me, but they always end up with me leaving the room out of sheer frustration. :shifty:
My Dad sometimes tries to be cool and get into new music but he usually just has no clue. HOWEVER, he loves Muse and Florence, and he introduced me to Pink Floyd, therefore all is forgiven :wacky:

Huzzah for being 5 ft. 2-3 in.! :D

Thank you so much, Grace! Lots of squishing in the Muse pit, it seems. :uhoh: But what weirdo would put his/her hands under your shirt?! Gah.
That's so awesome of your dad! And that's so nice of you to buy him a ticket. :D He must have had an amazing time.
It was the first concert he'd been to at least since I'd been born, so I had to make it an epic one :awesome:
And no problems!

Also, watch the security. If a security guard comes running at you, cover your head and duck. Most likely there's a crowd surfer behind you, and you really don't want to get smacked in the head by them.

I got smacked in the head by a crowd surfer being pulled over the barrier once, and his weight made me smack my head into the barrier :|

Last time I was measured, I was 155cm, which I'm pretty sure is 5'2...
