Trust me Showbiz after a while of playing muse songs (they are really addictive to play, e.g. plug in baby, dead star, supermassive black hole, new born, knights) it's hard to pick up a guitar without doing some muse riffs.

I'm trying to learn Exogenesis 2. I got everything but that middle section of the intro is really hard, I SO understand why Matt doesn't play it.

Back to the songs...

Apocalypse please :dozey: atm

I think it's because I'm in the middle of my exams I'm re-loving this song :laugh3:

Reaaally? I found electric was better to learn than acoustic.

I've recently got rid of the fret markers just because Matt does it. It's surprisingly easy to know which fret is which. That will be the only musefanboy thing I'll do. Promise.

I already can put my fingers on the third fret without looking down.

It's hard though, because I mainly play clarinet, and to play clarinet your fingers need to be perfectly flat. . . the exact opposite of what you want with guitar. :freak:
So that messes with my mind a bit. :|

I was trying barre chords this morning, and I was all "No. :wreck:" Maybe in a few weeks. :P But I can play about 8 chords so far. :awesome: I can change between about 5 almost perfectly (okay, for a beginner :P), and then the last three I can do very slowly.

Me too! :wacky: Too bad they didn't play bliss when i saw them but maybe next time  They played dead star though :awesome:

Hahaha yeah, but you have to play at least 15 mins everyday or you'll lose those callouses and it'll hurt again :P I stopped playing for a few months cos i was way to busy to pick my guitar and i tried it again and it hurt like when i was a noob and the tip of my fingers were all redish :disappointed:

Good for you! :awesome: Bar chords are harder and your fingers will suffer a lot but you'll master it after a few weeks, just try to press your fingers against the strings as hard as you can so you can get used to the pain  It worked for me haha.

Ahh strumming can be frustrating, you need to do lots of fingers stretching and excercise and try it very slow at first when you play a solo. Random but i love doing a few solos tapping the strings like matt when he plays the new born solo :wacky

Haha yeah, my guitar role model back then was johnny greenwood from radiohead, i read a music magazine back then where he was mocked for being a super bad guitar player and even his band members told him he should pick a different instrument but he kept practising and became a guitar good :wacky: And then years later when i got into muse, i read that matt taught himself how to play the guitar so woop woop!

I took formal piano lessons for seven years. Even now, I still play it every now and again, and I start to miss it. Then I'd remember, "Oh yeah, I'm a horn major for a reason" and forget about it.

D: That's terrible! If there's anything that bugs me, it's people who show no respect for musical instruments. This is exactly why I hate it when rock bands (yes, like Muse) destroy their equipment at the end of the show or whatever. It makes me angry. Instruments aren't cheap, and some of them take a good amount of time and effort to make properly. The least you could do is care for it.

I can do it! :awesome: I learned most of it by ear, too. The thing with "B&H," though, is that you need endurance if you're going to play the entire thing straight through. The left hand is in octaves pretty much the whole time (with the exception of the prelude), and given that's the max that I can reach somewhat comfortably on the piano (I can only reach as much as a 9th, perhaps a minor 10th if I REALLY stretch my hand out), it hurts like crap after a while.

MK Ultra got played a lot in the spring and basically disappeared in the fall (didn't get to hear it :()

Bliss and Take a Bow were the other rarities. Bliss got played once (my show, yay!) and TAB only got played a few times.

Best live track off The Resistance by far, so I dunno why either. And looking at some of the later setlists, it doesn't seem like they found a replacement for it. Really odd.

Yep. I wasn't able to get a ticket for LA1 (had tickets for Anaheim and LA2), but I think I picked the right night. :awesome:

Not as few as IBTY, but not many at all.

They just keep shortening the setlists. :ninja:

But IDK, I won't be sad to see Dom's scuba/wetsuit go... Just because, as we all know, I get irritated because it is most definitely spandex/lycra/polester mix... Not neoprene like wetsuits.

Pedantic!Natt is pedantic

While I remember:

Dom's been spotted around a drum sale/convention thing this week. The thought made me laugh mildly.

Corkus

I really wish Matt wore the LED suit stateside, though.

A bunch of my friends purchased some blinky glasses and wore them to the shows. Me? I passed since didn't feel like lugging them around. (Not that it mattered in the end when one of my friends actually caught Matt's glasses and we all took turns wearing them and taking awesome pictures with them on. I really don't know how the eff Matt sees out of them.)

And yeah, I'd count on Resistance for the Grammy performance. I'd definitely take it over Uprising, seeing how Uprising has been performed on TV quite a few times. (IMO they should just flip off the Grammy folks and play an extended medley consisting of Citizen Erased, Dead Star, and Fury. :awesome:)

In their GRAMMY special preview issue dated January 8, 2011 Billboard asked 20 music industry experts their predictions about who they think will win awards in various categories and they decided the GRAMMY for Best Rock Album goes to...

SHOULD WIN: Muse - The Resistance

WILL WIN: Muse - The Resistance

Voting by Recording Academy members has officially ended.

Speculation about additional artist performances at the 2011 GRAMMY ceremony - Do they want big names like Britney to promote their new music and attract huge ratings or invite talented nominees to sing live even though they may not be as well known to the viewing audience?

Rock and R&B need to be added to the six acts already announced. Possibilities include:

The Black Keys
Mumford & Sons
Florence + The Machine
Kings of Leon (They should have performed last year)
Muse - The Resistance medley including Uprising & Exogenesis symphony excerpts
Bruno Mars
B.o.B.
Haley Williams
Jay-Z
Sade
Usher
Janelle Monae
Drake
Lady Antebellum
Justin Bieber
Ke$ha (she is not nominated for any awards but was a presenter a year ago)

As do I. I can't help but think whoever worked on Toy Story 3 was a massive Muse Stan.... Just because they have him Dom styled (as above) and then they have this number:

http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx330/sheerpoetry4/vlcsnap-2010-12-27-01h11m55s215.png

Which makes him look startlingly like:

haha Matt and Ken have the same style :P

Basically, she (and I) were getting very irritated at some negative comments made over and over again about Muse, and when she expressed her annoyance, there was an argument. She felt really bad about the arguing, but I can totally see why she did it and I completely agree with her. It starts here (http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75178&page=12).

If I remember rightly, someone slagged off his opinion of the Christmas Lights single and so instead of taking it up with them in that thread-- he went to the lounge to get their input and wrote a philosophical borderline spiritual take on why this person felt the need to say that to him and why he had those views in the first place-- that he aired for discussion. It was so awkward because I felt it was a little risky material to take to the Lounge-- but he didn't deserve the utter bashing he got.

The lounge really isn't too bad if you make friends with the right people. . . like, you may get trolled if you don't have anyone you know in here. If you know a few people though, they'll generally back you up and you won't have a problem.

I'm surprised there are a number of Musers that don't love Coldplay as well.

Yeah Anna was at Wembley 2010 so I could have met her there as well! but then I didn't know about CPing till October.

hi I'm Daniel :)

seee :P we all could have met and moshed to Neutron Star Collision.

I went on both days because I did not want to miss any rare songs just because I wanted to be cautious with money. I'm glad I went Friday as well. Butterflies and Hurricanes, New Born, Soilder's Poem, IBTY :awesome:

:laugh3: Totally should have done this. Aw well, there's always next time

I could only get tickets for the Friday. My uni internet was being dreadfully slow that morning and Saturday had sold out before it even let me get on the site. I missed an exam for it and all :\ I would have gone to both if I could have got the tickets.

:wideeyed: Epic.

So, I had a dream last night that Muse were headlining Reading festival and I got to the barrier. I got a setlist which had Host, Twin, Spiral Static and most of their b-sides on it. :freak: then Matt gave me Glitterati and asked me to come to the afterparty with him. :awesome: Then I woke up as we went backstage. :bigcry:
