Same here--I'm more obsessed with Muse than I've ever been before. :smug:

Matt Bellamy friggin' rocks. :wideeyed:

I'm still hung up that I missed them at the KROQ Inland Invasion that was held 20 miles from my house. :(

Hi guys i found this awsome quotes hope you like :

A selection of stuff from old Melody Makers:

"one time I was supposed to do a festival in Exeter on my own and I couldn't do it, because I had a fear that Dom or Chris would come into the audience and realise that I wasn't very good and not want me in the band anymore!"

(asked about getting into trouble)

"Many time. I've got into a couple of fights this week. I always know i'll lose, but that's what eggs me on for some reason. Once was when someone threw some beer over me at the Elle Style Awards. Another time I went into a pizza place near Leicester Square and it was closing, so the woman gave me some pizza for free, but then the bouncer just grabbed me and threw me down the stairs. I was really fucked off with that beacause it hurt! So I got the whole pizza and threw it into the resteraunt and then ran a mile. I think that's a real blue hair thing - people thinking, 'who the fuck does he think he is?'"

:D ------ > "I think i'm crap. I'm a crap guitar player. I'm really not very good. And i thought I was a good singer until I met Coldplay. That guy's got a real voice. He can sing ."

Aww those quotes are great. Matt's just soo sweet!! As for the last one - he said that about Chris? :nice:

^^ Glad you guys liked them , found some others

Quoted from her LJ entry about the Fall Ball in Arizona:
"About three-fourths of the way into the show, one of the security guards pissed off the lead singer. OH MY GOD, IT WAS HILARIOUS. Sad, but hilarious. Y'see, along the front of the stage, there's a barrier. Between the barrier and stage, there is a space for security guards. They retrieve the crowd surfing bodies, put them on the ground, and send them on their merry way. I guess one of them plucked one up and just dropped him on the ground.

This is where Arlynn and I swooned the most.

I think it was the drummer who initially stopped the show. Afterwards, the lead singer got in on it. They turned British on us. ::melts::

He was like, "Oi, what's going on down there, mate? Who is in bloody charge? I'm preparing to give them a piece of my bloody mind!" And then they said other stuff, but I can't remember.

The lead singer actually left the stage, went down into the security pit, and had a chat with them. It was so freaking great. I love them; they care about their fans. Yay."

Dom: They're beating up some of the crowd. Hopefully that'll get him fucking sacked right now.
Matt: Is he kicking the shit out of some fan? What's he doing?
Dom: He was kicking the shit out of some girl, I noticed, as well.
Matt: Who's in charge of these guys down here, do you know?
Dom: Whoever it is needs to fucking sort them out.

From Q magazine:

Chris Wolstenholme is the youngest member of the three, turning 26 at the start of December, but also the most settled. Back home in Devon, he has a wife and three children, which means that the band's Herculean commitment to the road brings with it considerable conflict.

"But I'm really lucky, because my wife really is very understanding," the bassist says. "She knows what this band means to me. But I miss my children terribly. I miss my wife, especially after a few weeks when I'm desperate to get laid..."

:rolleyes::laugh4:

Thanks for the Dark Shines vid : it's the best guitar part of the whole concert in my opinion...

no problem, I seem to bump into these 'unreleased' vids these days.. the guy who put the video on youtube said that darkshines was on the Japanese edition of the dvd. guess it's one of these extra things for Japanese releases, again..
still it's a bit strange that the song is there on the cd version of the concert, but not on the dvd

this song has really grown on me, haven't seen that many live vids yet

:wink3:
Who could possibly be mean enough to attack the angelic frontman of the world’s most inoffensive band - Coldplay? Well someone’s got to do it. I recognise that he’s an all-round Lovely Bloke who really wants the world to live in peace and harmony. Unfortunately he’s doing a pretty good job of ensuring that this won’t be possible.

Let me begin by admitting that almost every environmentalist I know - and I include myself - is a hypocrite. We all want people to live by codes rather stricter than those we apply to ourselves, which is why real action on climate change isn’t possible without intervention by the government. But Chris is in a league of his own.
In an interview for the Guardian conducted in Las Vegas in 2005, he spoke about the songs on his album X&Y.
Twisted Logic is an intense, angry track encouraging people to make the right decisions about how they live their lives and how they treat the planet.
A few paragraphs later, he revealed that he was about to fly by private jet to Palm Springs, 35 minutes from Las Vegas. The band can now afford to fly wherever possible, and the increased privacy and speed mean that Apple will be able to join her father on tour more often. “I certainly don’t want her to stay at home all the time,” Martin says. “As she gets older, hopefully she’ll come out as and when she wants. I always thought it’d be cool to be in school and say, ‘I’m not coming in today - I’m off to Costa Rica to see my dad play.’ I do think that wins you a few points.”(1)
The following week, Alison Goldfrapp told an interviewer that, during his tours, Chris flies home between gigs. “We supported Coldplay and Chris Martin used to fly home on his jet, go home, write songs then fly to the next gig. “I thought, ‘What? Are you insane?’”(2)
As Goldfrapp suggested, his trips back “home” (this could be one of a number of places) were plainly unnecessary. While the rest of the tour hopped from gig to gig, he must have travelled twice or even three times as far. But even if it was absolutely essential, for some reason, that he went back to Gwyneth and Apple and Mangosteen, why couldn’t he travel in a commercial plane?
None of the accounts I have read give the make of his jet, but I will assume it’s that standard celebrity vehicle, the Learjet 45. The reports suggest that even if he is not the sole passenger, he is the sole beneficiary of the journey: those who travel with him - minders, servants or crew - go only for his convenience. So I will place the plane’s carbon emissions on his account.
The Learjet 45 has a normal cruising speed of 846 kmph. Its fuel consumption at this speed is 579 litres/hour, which means it burns 0.68 litres of kerosene per kilometre(3). The Airbus A321, a standard medium-haul commercial plane, travels at 853kmph and uses 3000 litres per hour, or 3.52 litres per kilometre(4). It seats around 189 people. Assuming that average occupancy is 70%, or 132, then every passenger is responsible for burning 0.027 litres per kilometre, or one 25th of Chris Martin’s consumption. But, as Heat shows, even one return trip across the Atlantic on a commercial airliner equates to a person’s entire sustainable carbon ration for a year.
It’s probably fair to assume that he flies at least 100,000 miles (or ten return journeys averaging 10,000 miles each) in his private jet each year. If so - and even before taking the rest of his activities into account - he would be exceeding his fair share of carbon by 250 times. If we were to take the other climate changing effects of air travel into account, we would multiply this by 2.7 times.
As if to prove that making the right decisions about how to treat the planet really is for lesser mortals, in December 2005 Chris Martin pranged his car, whereupon we learnt that the model he drives is a BMW X5. This is one of the thirstiest 4×4s on the road. The US Environmental Protection Agency reveals that in cities (he rammed someone’s hatchback in Belsize Park in London) they manage just 16 miles to the gallon(5).
Chris Martin claims to care about the poorest people on earth. Why then does he seem to be mounting a one-man campaign to sweep them off the planet?

As for Assassin..I love the "uncut" version...it sounds way better than the one on record...it sounds more...rock-ish? I've just got to post this random quote I found

Matt: Apparently men go into a cave when they get stressed and I think that's probably true, although, personally, I tend to let it out. I did have a bit of a tantrum in my hotel bathroom last night, but I managed to repair the toilet, so that's OK.
I: You trashed a hotel toilet?
Matt: Um sort of. Everyone does that, don't they?

(Matt's rockstar tantrums - Melody Maker December 1999)

:laugh3:

Somehow I doubt he does that very often these days.. not sure he used to do that so often before either.. sure he used to trash his guitar after a show every now and then but for some reason I can't picture him trashing hotel rooms.. at least I think

Cirrus Minor
23-10-2006, 07:00 PM
I think this feature of Rock lifestyle is ridiculous : trashing your hotel room as well as destroying the instrument has led you on to this wonderful rock-star life. I mean, yeah ! he's allowed to think as a teenager all time and earns a lot of money : he does what he loves the most and many people are fond of him and his work, thanks to these bloody guitars he's used to breaking every now and then. God, Matt, grow up !!

linnea
23-10-2006, 07:42 PM
yes he used to have those tantrums on stage..

talking about interviews, I remember reading or seeing one where he said that he stopped trashing the stage after the show, so I guess he DID grow up at some point and doesn't do that anymore..

and if I'm not wrong I think trashing the stage was something they did together after the show.. and I have no idea how often that happened.. I guess their excuse was that they had a 'bad show' or something like that.. at least I think it was often Matt and Chris trashing Dom's drumkit..

luckily they're all grown-up now (I think..!)

Con-science

just have to say, I randomly went to see a thread (in another section) which was about some entirely different subject and surprise surprise, it soon turned into a Muse bashing thread.. I know I shouldn't really be bothered to get upset, but I did.. Earlier Muse was a band which was hardly mainstream and just strange I guess so it was very uncool to like them. Now they've apparently become hugely popular in the UK and Europe which of course is not cool, just another good reason to hate them. Oh well.. Luckily(?) in Finland they're neither cool nor popular, so I can continue appreciating their music in peace. Big minus is that since they're not popular here, makes it almost impossible for me to ever see them live, unless I win the lottery.

And then there's the age issue, it's true that there are many 'new' Muse fans who are teenagers, but since I can hardly be counted into that age group (oh God I'm so old :dozey:), it's annoying that all Muse fans are labelled as being teenagers (wait.. what's wrong with being a teenager? you tell me..) Visiting more than one Muse forum I've noticed that many Muse fans are over 20, many are closer to 30 or older. It's true that there are people on every board who seem or/and act stupid and Muse boards (and this board) make no exception. So I guess I have to learn to live with that. Tough for me..

It must be frustrating to see that a band who once were seen as copycats have refused to take the easy road and instead went their own way and developed a style of their own. This has brought them new fans, which should be a good thing. Or ar least one would think so..

so this became an essay.. sorry but I just had to get that out of my system.

if there's anyone who managed to read through or otherwise just skipped to the end.. Muse song of the day *drum roll*

Linnea, how could you live without having ever listened to Con-Science ? This song is wonderful !

linnea
26-10-2006, 11:22 AM
It truly is a wonderful song :) I only realized I didn't have it when someone mentioned the song here. Thankfully they did mention it and Jake kindly uploaded it, been listening to it many times already.

btw, a friend of mine asked me to make her a compilation cd of Muse songs, she'd like to get to know Muse better. I'd appreciate any sugggestions you musers might have as to which songs I'll put on the cd. She's more into heavier music, not a pop music type of person (whatever that might be lol)

I thought I'd include at least New Born, Citizen Erased, Bliss, Hysteria, Showbiz and KoC, plus some other album trakcs and some b-sides too. Don't quite know what to choose, they have such a great collection of songs.

Any suggestions?

amsterdam528
26-10-2006, 11:51 AM
Butterflies and Hurricanes, Plug In Baby, Time Is Running Out, Starlight, Muscle Museum...all the singles would be good for that matter. ;)

linnea
26-10-2006, 12:23 PM
thanks, yes I thought I'd make it so that it begins with some Showbiz tracks and then goes through OoS and Absolution to BHAR. think you're right, if I take the singles they would in a way demonstrate how the band has progressed and the songs are quite diverse. might still include some b-sides too, for example Fury and Hyper Chondriac Music.

haha I might have to make a double cd! :D

bonita
26-10-2006, 02:10 PM
since she's into the "heavier" music, i guess these songs would appeal more to her;

showbiz = muscle museum, uno
oos = new born, hypermusic, citizen erased
absolution = apocalypse please, stockholm syndrome, hysteria, butterflies & hurricanes, the small print
bh&r = assassin, knights of cydonia

hullaballoo = nature 1 (most awesome-est muse song ever), ashamed
other b-sides = deadstar, in your world, eternally missed, host, house of the rising sun, the groove, fury

that's a good 21 or so songs? which can make an entire cd on its own.

certain songs like sunburn, time is running out, exo-politics, supermassive black hole, etc have more of a 'pop' element to it... not that it does to listeners like us; but to someone who listens to the heavier stuff, i guess it's much more ...'tame' for want of a better word.

if i were doing a compilation on muse songs, i definitely would include others like city of delusion and showbiz on it, but i think those can come after she appreciates these.

hope it helps :)

bonitaaa! :)

great to hear from you, it's been a long time! you must be so busy with those exams.. :( I'm sure it goes well for you! best of luck! *hugs*

and thanks for your suggestions! yes she's quite into 'heavier' rock music, so it might be good to skip for example supermassive.. I'd want to put it in but I guess it might appear a bit... well, strange at first (if a person's not so familiar with all the strangeness that is Muse lol)

I made a song list but I'll have to listen it through to see how it works.. for example I don't think Stockholm Syndrome works that well if it's right after Hysteria.. so this takes some organising.. but I'm loving every second of it :D

I think you should add Futurism to your list of B-sides there... I'm basically addicted to that song and it's awesome bass riff. :cheesy:

Futurism actually is on my list ;)

the list so far:
1. Sunburn
2. Muscle Museum
3. Uno / Showbiz
4. New Born
5. Bliss
6. Dead Star
7. Hyper Chondriac Music
8. Citizen Erased
9. Plug In Baby
10. In Your World
11. Futurism
12. Eternally Missed
13. Nature 1
14. Stockholm Syndrome
15. Sing For Absolution
16. Hysteria
17. Fury
18. Butterflies & Hurricanes
19. The Groove
20. Assassin
21. Glorious
22. Knights of Cydonia

I'm still not quite happy with the list, there are so many songs I'd like to put on the cd and don't know about the order of the songs either.. and I just couldn't leave Sunburn, SFA or Glorious out.. I still have couple of days to re-arrange the list..

I must be missing something here, all I hear first is Matt's voice and then Gwen Stefani's.. and to me they're complitely different

There're many Muse songs where Matt sings much higher than in Invincible, maybe some of those had been better in this clip and their voices would be more similar.. or is that the idea behind this? sorry, it's Monday morning, haven't really woken up yet :snore:

Noiseniks Muse beat its path through the British Rock scene. SHANNON TEOH recounts eight years of feet firmly on distortion pedals.

To be honest, I too number among those who dismissed Muse as a sort of Radiohead-via-metal derivative. Impressive though the musicianship of Mathew Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme was on the Muscle Museum EP released in January 1999, the timbre of Bellamy’s voice was too reminiscent of Radiohead’s Thom Yorke circa The Bends.

It just seemed so un-British at the time, when Britpop’s swagger was slowly fading and serious pop musicians were taking a bit of Radiohead’s mojo but plugging it into melodies that were irresistible. Coldplay, Elbow, Doves to name a few, they were all moving British Rock towards a new age of subtle romance.

No surprise then that British labels were reluctant to back the band from Devon, England. It was left to an American label, Maverick Records, to line up a few gigs and sign it in 1998.

Of course, when Maverick (founded by Madonna, and launched the careers of Alanis Morissette, Deftones and Michelle Branch) comes a-calling, people start to think maybe they should’ve paid attention. Upon the band’s return from America, Taste Media arranged deals for Muse with various record labels in Europe and Australia.

The result was the choppy and inconsistent debut album Showbiz. Produced by John Leckie (who had also produced the aforementioned The Bends and also albums from the Stone Roses, “Weird Al” Yankovic and The Verve), the album showcased the band’s aggressive style, and featured obscure lyrical references to the difficulties the band faced in its hometown scene.

The year 2001 saw the release of its followup, Origin of Symmetry, which was a turn for the darker, with Gothic pianos vying with Bellamy’s incendiary guitarwork for the leading role in a much stronger effort from the band.

The distinctive piano playing brought the band much critical attention, drawing comparisons to the work of pianists of the Romantic movement, particularly that of Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Bellamy’s operatic falsetto, whilst clearly enjoyed by fans, was a point of contention with Maverick, who refused to release the album with that vocal track, thinking it unsuitable for the American market.

Unwilling to replace the vocal track, the band left the label and Origin of Symmetry was only belated released in 2005.

Plug In Baby, New Born and Bliss kept Muse in the singles charts all summer long. But other tracks off the album became fan favourites. Sitting right in the centre of the album is Citizen Erased and Micro Cuts, songs that guarantee a rapturous reception at live shows.

Muse’s tours were some of the most impressive around, especially given its three-man lineup. Muse released Hullabaloo Soundtrack both in DVD form and as an audio CD which mainly featured a recording of its live performance at Le Zenith in Paris in 2001.

The double-CD album did not feature all the songs on the DVD but instead put together a collection of B-as well. On the stage, Bellamy’s high-pitched vocal lines and arpeggiated guitar were dynamic but exacerbated a slight problem with Muse’s music in that it seemed somewhat disjointed and staccato.

Absolution, released in 2003, bridged this gap and was a quantum leap for the band. The album yielded the band its biggest American hit yet in its poppiest single ever, Time Is Running Out, and went platinum across Europe and Britain.

It was an album so full of ideas that it did the band a kind of disservice. So ambitious it was that the grandiose it affected was a bit too far-flung for many fans and critics alike.

Muse continued to blend classical influences into its hard rock sound and with lyrical references to the end of the world, the entire effect was apocalyptical in nature.

In was at the hallowed festival of Glastonbury in 2004 that the band wrote themselves into rock’s history books. A defining performance and experience for the band earned it the acclaimed Q magazine’s award for Best Live Act, an accolade reaffirmed at the 2005 Brit Awards.

They also won two MTV Europe awards, including Best Alternative Act. The Absolution tour sold like hotcakes, forcing the band to play extra dates and finally, releasing it on DVD in 2005.

Whilst the band’s output could be said to be intensely passionate previously, Absolution struck an emotive note that rode on the lingering post-millennial tension.

A sense of political paranoia pervaded the album which could possibly explain the high turnup at live shows — people just needing that level of connection to an unexplained disorder.

Three years on, Black Holes And Revelations landed in a totally unexpected fashion. Muse received airplay on Malaysian format radio. Amazing.

Supermassive Black Hole had a long run in recent months and Starlight looks set to continue on that for a bit.

Moreover, the album somehow found its way to No. 9 on the Billboard charts, finally planting its flag on American soil.

Black Holes And Revelations has since received both widespread acceptance and critical acclaim. Thematically, it is a sort of sequel to Absolution, with references to conspiracy theories, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse and God knows what else on this multi-faceted effort.

But its sound has taken a completely divergent path. Synths blast in somewhat 80s-like but coupled with a sense of restraint on the part of Bellamy has resulted in something quite epic. It’s a far more inviting effort than anything it has done before, forsaking somewhat its aggressive and jagged past for something a bit more harmonious and rollicking.

This is the album Depeche Mode has been trying to recreate, the one that Garbage will never be able to make, and just maybe, one that Queen would’ve made had it come around a couple of decades later.

Uhhmm dunno if anyone is interested or if it is already been said...anyway I've read an article here on which Matt says exactly where he's living with his girlfriend here in Italy: the place is called Tavernola "a piece of heaven facing the Como Lake between the towns of Moltrasio and Cernobbio" (his words)...so if anyone is coming to see them in Milan maybe you can go around a bit and meet him there, I know some people who plan to do this :nice:

I think he probably knows he's not that famous to find hundreds of people waiting for him outside his house, so if someone is going to meet him is just to have a chat, nothing more ;) otherwise he wouldn't have said that

linnea
05-11-2006, 11:13 AM
I think one of the reasons he moved to Italy was that he wanted to get some privacy and so I guess he expects fans to respect that if he isn't that secretive about it anymore.. I remember reading one interview where he said that he lives next to George Clooney and if it's such a small place people probably know where these 'famous' people live anyway so it's not even possible to keep it a secret.

but then again, he's also said he has a habit of talking before thinking when interviewed, so maybe that has something to do with it too.. :D

anyways, here are the vids from Jools Holland show (November 3)
the quality is ok but I had to turn up the volume, the sound is not that good.. I might be able to upload the vids (in better quality) if anybody wants them.

Starlight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utDPOwVpgig)such a lovely song

Map of the Problematique (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gB5KAe5vRek)a brilliant performance, this has got to be the fourth single! My absolute favourite from the album. The riff at the end is amazing and Matt's giggle there in the middle made me giggle too

Knights of Cydonia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxHPoEZwY3c) another great performance, they used a trumpet! Only wish there had been the Space Dementia outro, other than that it's one of the best performances of KoC I've seen.

hello everyone im going to see muse for the first time this friday at manchester and i reckon i can arrive early enough to be right at the front of the queue so that I'm right at the front, against the barrier. however im not sure if given the opportunity i would want to be- reading some of the things ive heard (like that person breaking their hand above lol) would i have more fun being just behind the barrier people and being able to have the freedom to jump up and down etc.? ive been to a few concerts but none really that i felt worried abt being at the front. what do you guys think?

Ermmm...well it really just depends on how much you can personally cope with being mega-crushed. I'm pretty good with it, but even I have had to be pulled out from the barrier one time 'cos I thought I was gonna get seriously injured, which just isn't worth it no matter which band it is.
Also the first sort of 2-7 rows are always horrible if the crowd is nuts, almost worse than being on barrier, as you have nothing to hold onto.
If you don't mind the risk of having to be pulled out and getting moved to a shitty place, then go for it. Seeing Muse from front row would be incredible.

I'd love to see Muse live one day but if that ever actually happens, I'd probably stay away from the front too. It would definitely be the ultimate Muse experience to be there in the front but I value my life too much.. But then again I might feel differently if there was a real chance I could see them live. So who knows.

news from muse.mu:

Knights of Cydonia single

CD

1. Knights of Cydonia (album version)
2. Supermassive Black Hole (live from Campo Pequeno Lisbon)

DVD

Full length video of Knights of Cydonia
An extended making of the video
Knights of Cydonia audio

Vinyl

1. Knights of Cydonia (album version)
2. Assassin ('Grand Omega Bosses' Edit)

Download
1. Knights of Cydonia (live)

WHY???!!!

I was really looking forward to buying the actual cd single with the extended version of Assassin and now it seems there'll be a live version of Supermassive on it. I love Supermassive but in all fairness, many people already have quite a few live versions of the song and Assassin would've been something bit different. And sure I'd love to buy the vinyl too if only I had some way to actually play it..

I'm sure it'll be amazing to see them, gig or festival.. I'm trying very hard not to be jealous of all you seeing Muse and I'm failing miserably..:( but at the same time I'm happy for you, so very mixed emotions :\:D

still hoping they'll do another European tour next year.. unless they're totally exhausted after all the touring they're doing now. but still, fingers crossed!

oh and thinking how they've all grown up and are so well-behaved these days (or so it seems at least), it was fun to watch some old Matt craziness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHQ7JzxXM24

Assassin was extended and something was wrong with Matthew's megaphone during Feeling Good so he threw it down. Aaaaah, Muscle Museum! Sadly, no CE.

linnea
11-11-2006, 12:44 PM
That is a very good setlist, the only thing I'd change is to replace Invincible with CE. But since this is a tour to promote BH&R, it's understandable why they want to play as many songs from the new album as possible. And maybe I'd put Starlight and New Born the other way around, New Born would be excellent as an opener of the encore. But still, this is an excellent setlist. And since they're always amazing live, it's no matter what they play, it's still good.

haha I'd love to have seen Matt throw that megaphone towards Dom, glad it didn't hit him though. The other night Matt broke one of his guitars too (I'm not exactly sure if he broke it or if it just broke..) Lots of stuff gets broken these days apparently.

linnea

I took piano lessons too but I never had the patience to practice so I quit..

Matt didn't take piano lessons, his parents let him play as much as he wanted and what he wanted. So he just played for fun. If I say he is talented it seems like it's an understatement of the century. That sort of talent must be very rare. Still he's very modest about his playing skills. Here's an extranct of an interview for a Finnish music magazine (and this is my translation so if there're some sort of strange words and grammar mistakes they're mine:D)

"I don't think I'm a very good rock guitarist, but with piano I can play some things that might sound complicated. I don't practice technical stuff with any instrument. So I don't knowingly or consistently improve my technical skills. But it's still nice that there's enough skill in our band so that we can do more than just the usual stuff. If you want to do something that is different, it's good to have a command of your instrument."

That's one of the reasons I love Muse.. they do something which isn't ordinary or conventional. There're some people I know who are not Muse fans but still appreciate the talent and skill they have.

that is being very very modest. :stunned: but what a legend he is!:D

Cirrus Minor
18-11-2006, 09:18 AM
Yes, he is very modest, but if you compare with other great guitarists (Hendrix, Vaughan, Clapton, Page, Gilmour, Greenwood, Morello, and even Molko), it appears that he is actually no very good rock guitarist. I love what he does, and God knows I love Muse, his performances are impressive, but it's rather because of some "feeling", or "presence" he has than talent or skill. For example, if you see some Bliss performances where he ends laying on the ground, madly scratching his strings, I find this great, but the guitar actually sounds ugly !

linnea
18-11-2006, 03:52 PM
There's an incredible 'feeling' and 'presence' when he plays, like you said. I'm no expert when it comes to playing the guitar, so I have to admit I don't know anything about the technical side. But I do believe he is very talented and he could develop his technical skills if he wanted to. But clearly that's not so important to him and in a way I think the way he plays is exactly how it should be for Muse (that sounded bit strange but you know what I mean!) For me, it's the 'feeling' that matters. ;)

Here's the setlist from last night (Nottingham 17.11.)

1. Take A Bow
2. Starlight
3. Supermassive Black Hole
