I hope they release a DVD too, partly because i want a better look of the visuals.

Yeah, Matt's voice has changed so much! I kinda wished it was still high pitched like before but i don't anymore; he sounded so good on Dark shines and Micro cuts.

So I'm hearing the Leeds crowd near the front was absolutely terrifying and made Wembley Night 1/Sydney/Outside Lands crowds (according to my traveling friend, the 3 worst crowds of the tour) look like chumps.

Also, Chris singing Hyper Music. DAMN.

They're gonna play some traditional hits after they complete Origin. That'll be interesting, but probably standard fare.

*Megalomania ends and crowd cheers*

Matt: "Thank you! That was Origin of Symmetry! And now for some newer classics."

BOOMBOOM. BOOM BOOMBOOM. FWOOOOOOSH.

*crowd promptly leaves*

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Everyone who is at Reading and/or Leeds cannot complain about future setlists. That should be some kind of rule. :P

Yes.

THIS IS THE MUSER CORNER OF DEATH.

THEY BETTER GODDAMN DO A SPECIAL ABSO SHOW WHEN THE TIME COMES.

Also yes.

But Matt's voice. Ohmygosh, so deep in comparison to what it used to be. Hahaha. Wow.

It's so much richer now than it was back when the boys started. I love it. <3

Uh...yeah. NME is freaking stupid.
http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=120&title=muse_at_leeds_festival_2011_review&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Vibe: Matt Bellamy likened this run-through of 'Origin Of Symmetry' to "drawing a line under one phase of our career". But despite his sparkly red guitar (not to mention his even sparklier jacket), the lasers, the fireworks and smoke machine, it underwhelmed slightly. Thank goodness for the post-album run through of the hits.

Best bit: 'Feeling Good'. A signal that 'Origin Of Symmetry' was coming to a close and that we were zoning in close to the run of classics ('Supermassive Black Hole', 'Knights Of Cydonia','Hysteria').

Low point: Post-'Plug In Baby', we delved into the middle section of the album and it felt that we were there for a bit too long.

Banter: Minimal. There was an opening "WUUUGLOOOOOOO!" (we think it was "hello!" but can't be sure) from Matt Bellamy. Then he stated: "We're playing the whole fucking thing, we've never done that before."

Verdict: Playing the whole of the album felt a bit much but things really got going when they opened up a can of megahits on the crowd.

^ RAEG.

How the hell can you call SMBH and KoC "classics" when they're not even 5 years old? Or, better yet, how can you say that when you have an album like OoS that's just better in general?

Post-"Plug in Baby?" That's "Citizen Erased" and "Micro Cuts." And "Megalomania." MY GOD. What more does a Muser want? Jesus Christ.

UGH. These people make me sick.

So I've found out there's two catches to the BBC3 "live" stream, if you can even get it:

A) It's not actually live. They record parts and play them an hour later in between stupid interviews with the BBC people.
B) That's right. PARTS. They said a "chunk" of Muse's set would be shown, which probably means all the non-Origin stuff. BASTARDS.

They only showed 3 or 4 songs from Friendly Fires before cutting to another dumb interview, for crying out loud.

I am back from Leeds Festival and if I am honest...Muse were disappointing! :(

Now...Muse are one of my favourite bands and when I saw them in September, they blew my mind!!! However this performance didn't and I feel really sad to say this :(

During New Born and Bliss I was pushed about by the crowd lots and I got crushed, I had to move back where I had a terrible view of the stage!

And although I love Origin of Symmetry...some of the songs such as Megalomania just didn't work live :/

I did enjoy it but it was disappointing...

Corkus
29-08-2011, 07:21 PM
I heard the crowd at both fests was the worst thing ever. My long-time barrier friends ended up getting pulled out at Leeds and waited toward the back for Reading and ended up having a better time there because of it. I don't know how much validity this has, but I've heard a few people say that Reading/Leeds typically have a much more immature crowd than other festivals like Glastonbury because they're typically many kids' first festival and attract more party-seeking teenagers than Glasto. Again, don't know how true that is.

Nattatouille
29-08-2011, 08:03 PM
^ Very true. With Glasto being earlier in the season most teenagers are still in school/college doing their exams-- so the audience tend to be university age and above. Reading being in the summer means that the other younger audiences can go, it's also easier to get to via train than Glasto. And it is also cheaper.

Audience tends to be 90% 16-25

My concert, Nijmegen 19th June 2010. One of the best setlists Muse did during the whole tour (don't count R&L now)

:Uprising
Supermassive Black Hole
New Born
Map of the Problematique
MK Ultra
Bliss
Guiding Light
Hysteria
Nishe
United States Of Eurasia
Feeling Good
MK Jam
Undisclosed Desires
Resistance
Starlight
Time Is Running Out
Unnatural Selection

Encore:
Citizen Erased
Stockholm Syndrome

Encore 2:
Take A Bow
Plug In Baby
Knights of Cydonia

Still can't describe the feeling I had when Citizen Erased started. I was a bit disappointed with Bliss, because I knew then CE wouldn't been played. And on the moment I awaited Exogenesis there was CE, still can't describe the feeling.

You should go as a blind Coldplay fangirl from Coldplaying. As in blindfold yourself, wear rainbow Viva bands, write "I LOVE CHRIS MARTIN" on your clothes (make sure your shirt is yellow), put on MX-style graffiti facepaint, and write crappy lyrics all over your skin.

Two days ago, I found a white pickup truck with a white Muse logo sticker on the back window at a music building parking lot. I promised myself I would find this person and become his/her friend.

Yesterday, I found out who said person was and swore I would let him know how awesome his sticker was.

This morning, I found him in the music lobby and had a VERY nice full-out Muse conversation. This is the first person who I have met personally who has Muse as their favorite band like I do. Needless to say, I'm in an awesomely good mood right now. :dazzled:

The irony in that is that they are both as unoriginal just ading 'ers' to the end. It's just that Musers works better because yeah, as you said, it rolls off the tongue. I don't mind Coldplayers... But I think The Scientists would've been cooler, although these days most fans might be like 'that song sucksss cuz it's not poppy like ETIAW'. (Ohhh can we tell that I'm smarting, I'm blatantly smarting)

I quite agree.

And Coldplayers get much more nasty when you say something negative about Coldplay, whereas Musers just kind of get annoyed at you.

Word to this. Coldplayers are like lions in comparison to Musers who are just kitties. Musers are more likely to indignantly puff up and have a short spat before being like 'w/e' whilst the Coldplayers will rip your eyes out and insult your upbringing before they call it quits.

Maybe coldplayers are more defensive coz coldplay gets so much shit in media

I have no doubt that this is the reason. Coldplayers have never been supported and have been the butt of all jokes. So yeah, I can understand getting a little prickly.

But I do not support the way they get so angry and offensive. They need to find better ways to cope. I used to be like that, don't get me wrong, but that was when I was thirteen. I have since learnt to deal with it in a decent manner and I think a reality check is needed on this board as a whole.

Jesus fangirls calm down. Muse are not that great. In real world their albums are perceived as rather weak. Between 6-7/10 would be accurate for their best OOS, since then they are recycling the same old shit and Resistance is real piece of turd and just for people without any taste for music. All Coldplays albums are better than that. New Coldplays album could attack position of TR though.

STFU with troll remarks. VLVO...is everywhere perceived as better album, check acclaimedmusic, rateyourmusic or whatever source you wish. TR is absolutely horrendous and yes Muse are recycling same riffs, same chords, same melodies only they set it in ocean of pop balast to apply to blinded fangirls such as you. There are tons of better music FFS.

VLV (only add the O if you're going to give it its' full title, hate to be pedantic) may have been critically acclaimed to be the better album... But it was only Coldplays' fourth album.

If we take it this way and look at comparative 5th albums... In what I have termed, fifth album syndrome, they have seen a decline in quality by this point. But MX is significantly worse than TR thus far.

I'm a worse coldplay fangirl but sadly this album or at least the songs I've heard till now just don't work for me, it feels like the X&Y era whc i hated...

The only song off of VLV that hasn't ever appealed to me is probably 42. TR just seems extremely cheesy in comparison, especially lyrically. But I will say that is probably has nicer melodies... maybe I'm just biased to VLV because of sentimental reasons and I'm not as exposed to some of those songs on the radio as much as Uprising, Undisclosed Desires, and Resistance are. Sure Viva La Vida got HEAVY radio play for a while and I let go of that one, maybe Violet Hill too, but they came back to me a lot better than Resistance or UD are.

Muse is much more talented than Coldplay though.

It's the opposite for me, Coldplay's music gets. . .old. I never feel the need to go back and listen to one of their albums (except for Parachutes )

I seem to live in the only area where Lovers in Japan got EXTREMELY whored out on the radio, which is weird because a lot of singles never even make it on the radio here. That was the biggest victim of overexposure on the album for me. The only two songs I outright hate are 42 and Yes, but I'm still lukewarm on a lot of the rest.

Like I've said time and again about The Resistance, the first 5 songs on the album are cheesy as hell and range from average to outright bad. Then the album hits Unnatural Selection and suddenly becomes awesome the rest of the way through.

Right, it's one of the 5 "average or worse" songs I mentioned. Guiding Light in particular is their worst non-B-side ever (though I really hate "Overdue" on Showbiz).
I personally like GL but quality wise it's not that good and cheesy as hell. :dazzled:
