Moonlight Sonata ftw

Moonlight Sonata ftw

THIS. I like his Pathéique Sonata, too.

Honestly, I don't care much for Classical era composers in general. Composers like Mozart and Haydn generally stayed with the times. Beethoven strayed from all that. This is why some people (and I agree) dub him the father of the Romantic Era, which is much more to my tastes.

Besides the fact that I feel obligated to vote for Beethoven because he was from my hometown, I also prefer his music. Easy decision for me. :D

Tough tough decision. I'll go for Beethoven. 6th Symphony 1st movement!

Mozart, Lacrymosa ftw my friends. Actually, all of Requiem, that's just freaking awesome music.

Mozart was a genius, perhaps the greatest musical genius of all time. His skill and hability to create symphonies out of nowhere have n't been topped yet. However, general classical era composers were kind of predictable, their music could be kind of accesible in some ways, something catchy and not complex, lack of spirituallity and emotion, just like if it was a soundtrack or, like most of the time, fill up music for operas. Of course Mozart's requiem and several other works are heavenly. But Beethoven's music is superior in my opinion, in the way that it is something fresh, it moves you, the music can change your mood and transport you to other place, Mozart too, but LV's music had a higher spirituality and emotion, he put heart and effort in his compositions, and that's what's music is about

His music is very English countryside-ish.

It really is. I rather like it. His "English Folk Song Suite" is like, essential concert band repertoire to have.

Beethoven.

Mozart was a genius but so was Beethoven. I always loved Beethoven for the power in his music and the huge differences he put in almost every single piece. He started a revolution in classical music and he wasn't really taken seriously then with the new things he came up with.
Sure, Mozart died way too early but Beethoven lost his hearing and what worse could happen to a musician / composer? I guess both would have prefered death over deafness.
Some people maybe thought he was insane because he kept saying he was a gift of God but if there's a God, definetely both men were gifts from him.

I love Beethoven and don't really like Mozart so much.

I voted Beethoven. His symphonies are much more fun for horns. I'm not really that big a fan of Mozart, but I certainly do appreciate his work....Beethoven is more my style, though.

Beethoven. Most definitely. He didn't follow all these classical rules and my taste prefers his music in general...aaand he grew up in the town I live in...

Yes, and I hate every one of them! :D I really like Beethoven's Sonata for horn. But...my favorite horn solo is by Reinhold Gliere. I performed both at my Bachelors recital along with a few others when I graduated college.

Mozart's symphonies are absolutely genius.Love Beethoven but Mozart comes first for me.
Also like Verdi and Bizet in terms of opera
Strauss, Wagner (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg)...

I loved the movie Amadeus. I don't know how true it is to how Mozart really was.

From what I heard, some of it is accurate. However, my Music Lit teacher made it clear to us that the real Mozart did NOT wear pink wigs. Just sayin'.
